  1. Civil Service Strollers - Season 2022/23 First Team Squad | Facilities | Transfers | Finances | Training | Attendances League Campaign We were terrible all season, and rightly finished bottom of the league - even if we were only behind Stirling on goal difference. Scoring under 30 league goals in the season will do that though. We were just clearly not good enough. If I had to pick 1 game that cost us, we drew 1 each with Cowdenbeath when we played 10 men for 70 odd minutes but just shat the bed. That said, there were plenty of games where we just weren't good enough. Hoping we can improve somewhat next season, as season upon season of being garbage is getting tiresome. We faced a playoff against Cove Rangers... This was the first time this season, and one of the very few times so far, when we've just completely outplayed anyone. A great performance, and a great result which gives us a very good platform to build on and should hopefully see us safe. If I was being critical, I would say we should have won by more, but Cove were never close to beating us here. Onto the second leg... Well, thank Christ for that. We just - only just - did enough, but it was far more nervy than it should have been. We took an early lead and then, I think, got complacent and Cove took a 3-1 lead. Thankfully, they gifted us a second not long before half time, and from then on we saw the game out relatively comfortably, and stayed up! Overall, job done but I don't want to have to have another playoff next season. It remains a distinct possibility, as not enough of my players are improving to the necessary standard in any rush, so I'll be one of the worst teams in the league, again, for the foreseeable. The Cups Fairly standard stuff in the league and challenge cups. The Scottish Cup, however, gave us this: We got a good draw, beating Deveronvale who we're better than and Queens Park, who were absolutely terrible at that point before a glamour tie with Killie, where we weren't embarrassed. Best Cup run I've had by a long, long distance. Youth Intake Big fan of Scott Currie, and of being randomly given a boy from Kosovo (guess which one). There's not a lot of talent, but: Scott Currie: The best individual to come into my youth set up, bar none. He's quick, can finish and has no really glaring weaknesses. Obviously, he has a long way to go to be the finished article, but with some work he may well be my striker for a while to come. Kevin Allison: Another potentially decent centre half. Has some obvious deficiencies, but could be a good option. Only problem is I'm still developing a few guys in his position, and I think they'll all be better than him so not sure how I'll work this one. Ryan Kelly: Might, with a lot of work on his technical abilities, end up a reasonable option in attacking midfield, but we shall see what happens. Other News Upgrades to both trainig and youth facilities. Pleasing, should help a lot in getting players capable of anything other than 9th or 10th. All of that needs paying somehow, so we've taken on board the Navy Blue Pound. I'll not be taking any players on loan from them, so it'll be 13k plus a home friendly for absolutely nothing at all, which seems par for the course for Falkirk's boardroom decision making these days.
  2. Actually that’s a plan. Manpreet, write “Get out our club, you Tory c**t” on a banner and I’ll chip in.
  3. Surely the notion that Clyde were in any way a rival was buried that time our under 12’s put 6 past them?
  4. Civil Service Strollers - Season 2021/22 First Team Squad | Facilities | Transfers | Finances | Training | Attendances League Campaign God, we were terrible, but somehow Stirling were worse, so we're staying up. The worst attack and the second worse defence was always liable to see us struggle, but we just managed to sneak enough points to see us over the line. Beating Stirling 1-0 in a game with only one half chance for either side was vital, and that saw us over the line. A 20 game run without a win was particularly bleak, but in the end it was all ok, and a 5-5 draw with Queens Park having been 5-3 down heading into injury time was brilliant, but was one of very few highlights of the season. Once again, threw in a lot of young players and relied on them a lot, and saw some improvements in a few of them which was good, and should be a good sign going forward, but I'd expect next season to be another absolute slog. Stirling beat Albion Rovers to stay up, while Arbroath will be joining us after relegation from the League One. The Cups Usual nonsense in the cups. I would quite like to not have to play in them, but c'est la vie. Youth Intake An alright enough intake, with a couple of very promising players. Scott Crawford: The best of the lot. A very decent passer with good vision. and could be a hugely important player for us as he's the only one who's really ready to step into the first team. He could do with improving his work rate and decision making in particular, but certainly could be a good player at our level. Andrew Sleight: Ok, he's garbage at the minute. BUT, he's physically alright and I don't have any other left backs coming through so might be necessary. Ally Sinclair: A pretty good right back (at our admittedly terrible level) and I'll throw him in plenty so hopefully he'll improve pretty quickly. If he does, he'll be a useful player to have. Dale McNeil: Another pretty ok centre back, which we seem to be getting most seasons, so presumably we'll be able to get a couple of them to turn out ok. McNeil is another one, with good starting points at most of the key skills so that's good. Euan Fulton: Can cross, dribble and has alright technique, so that's a good start for a left midfielder. He's determined as well, which is nice. Other News Our pitch was crap, so it's been relaid. Nothing else going on. We'll be appalling next season, and the season after but hopefully we'll end up an alright side in a few years time.
  5. Alex Cole-Hamilton in being a complete dickhead shocker. He could campaign for literally every single thing I want, and he’d still be a total cock.
  6. 1. Dundee United 2. Dundee 3. Thistle 4. Ayr 5. Inverness 6. Dunfermline 7. Morton 8. Queen of the South 9. Alloa 10. Arbroath
  7. I didn’t realise Jacqui Low had been a Tory candidate. I’m fully on board with taking any opportunity to hound her out the club going forward.
  8. Civil Service Strollers - Season 2020/21 First Team Squad | Facilities | Transfers | Finances | Training | Attendances League Campaign 9th place, but with more points than last season, so I'm pretty happy with this. Cowdenbeath and Stirling both had horrific starts to the season (Cowden had 5 points after 16 games, while Stirling had 6). They both picked up, however, while we slumped completely for a long time. We managed to do just enough to get by though, and are safe. Played a lot of youth players pretty consistently as well, and they mostly did ok, which is positive. Our defence is hugely improved, but at the expense of our attack - we're the only team to score less than a goal a game on average over the season. That's not good enough, frankly, but we managed to get through in the end so I'm not too annoyed really. Cowdenbeath stayed up, beating EK, while Brechin are coming down from the League One. The Cups The League Cup was hilarious, I played as many youth players as I could, in every game, and it clearly didn't go well. Beating Spartans, who apparently I have a rivalry with, was great, as we came from 2-0 down and got a "moneyspinner" against Airdie (genuinely my biggest crowd of the season - comfortably). Other than that, the cups were uneventful. Youth Intake Another year with lots of potential, but not a lot of current ability. Grant Kerr: I'll be playing him, mostly, as a centre midfielder, and I hope that if he improves he should be decent enough. He's technically good (as 16 year olds in the League 2 go), so that's a plus. Reece Henderson: He can pass, which is a big plus, but a lot of work needed to make him useable. Still, could turn out to be a good player. Chris Graham: A good finisher, and a decent bit of pace, which could be very useful. His complete lack of composure is an issue, as is the fact he's got no technique or first touch, but if those can be improved then I could have a player on my hands. Bryan Marshall: The makings of an alright centre half. He's slow as a week in the jail which isn't helpful, but he can header and mark a bit, so a bit of work and he'll be ok - maybe. Other News Two improvements which should help us to produce better players. They won't have had much impact upon this years intake, but should hopefully start to show signs from next year. Our finances are looking pretty healthy, based almost entirely on having a squad of 16 year olds on 20 quid a week and playing friendlies against Celtic and Rangers repeatedly in pre season...
  9. UK's song was fucking shite tbf
  10. Why are they just letting Madonna ramble shite?
  11. Norway been the best, by a fair distance IMO.
  12. Shea Gordon is pretty meh, but at the same time having him signed up, along with Bannigan and Slater will hopefully eliminate the possibility of Ntambwe-esque panic buys that Archie was such a fan of.
  13. Oh well, I’m sure we’ll find someone else who can run around a lot and mishit crosses.
  14. Civil Service Strollers - Season 2019/2020 First Team Squad | Facilities | Transfers | Finances | Training | Attendances League Campaign 8th place, even if we were only a point ahead of those below us, is a pretty good result for a first season with a weak squad as far as I'm concerned. Fortunately, both Cowdenbeath and Stenhousemuir were dreadful (even if Stenny beat us 7-0 out of nowhere...). Cowdenbeath managed to only win 1 game from the start of December until the end of the season which, amazingly enough, was against us. You don't have to look very hard to work out where our problems came from. 96 goals conceded and only 2 clean sheets all season - we conceded 4 or more goals in 9 league games this season and in 5 games we failed to win where we scored 3 goals. Fortunately, we seemed to be relatively decent at actually scoring goals. I said at the start that Churhcill was one of my most important players, and he proved it - 11 goals and 9 assists from central midfield. Huge for us. I lost quite a few players from my squad at the beginning, which left us very short for a while, and we really struggled. Still, 8th place gives us a good platform to hopefully push on next year, now that we have some depth - even if, as you'll discover, that cover isn't very good. Brechin went up through the playoff and Cowdenbeath stayed up, beating EK. Forfar and East Fife got relegated. Cup Competitions Other than beating Falkirk on penalties, which was slightly amusing, and beating a now Lowland League Albion Rovers - absolutely awful. The cups are always awful in these saves, I get humiliated by enough teams in my own league without teams from higher leagues piling on too. Ah well, we got some money I suppose. Youth Intake Not what I was looking for, but it'll have to do I guess. Eddie Barbour is the best out of the lot really, but he happens to play in the one position where I have 2 fairly good options, so I'll focus on the others who I think will potentially make a difference: Andrew Dalziel: An attacking midfielder, he's garbage just now BUT he has a decent work rate, is fit and can sort of pass a ball a bit. Maybe he'll end up ok enough. Probably not though. Jack Smith: Will be very important, and is almost certain to play a lot. He can mark and has decent positioning, but everything else needs work. Still, my defence is shite anyway, so I've got basically nothing to lose by throwing him in. Derek Ritchie: Important, if only because he's the only person in the entire squad who can play right midfield, but he can cross a bit, he's quite fast and works hard. Should get plenty of games, and will hopefully improve. Craig Morrison: Might turn into a vaguely competent striker, where I actually have a couple of decent players already, but will see if he improves. Other News Nothing else of note happening, really need to improve the youth facilities as the intake this season wasn't good enough frankly, but I've got no money to do it. Hopefully we'll be able to get a nice wee cup tie somewhere and change that. Onwards and upwards. Or maybe downwards.
  15. The backheel goal v Hamilton in the 5-0 game was pure filth as well.
  16. All the best to McCarthy at whatever League Two side he ends up at
  17. Gutted about Doolan. I think the time was right, but I’m still absolutely gutted. Honestly think I’ll greet if I see him lining up against us next season. At least Storey is away. I’ll feel better once the club have confirmed it too, though. Edit: I’d like to hope that Caldwell didn’t know Doolan was away yet and didn’t just refuse to give him 10 minutes at the end to be a dick, but who knows.
  18. Civil Service Strollers - Youth Academy Challenge Right, I've decided to give this another try as I haven't really been able to get properly into a save on this FM, and the BSC Glasgow save from last year was the most I've enjoyed a save since FM12. For my second attempt this year, I've got Civil Service Strollers. As per usual, they've signed some players already and since I won't be able to release any of them I'll just leave it and make it no signings from here on out. My squad is pish. Like, total pish. Burt, Guthrie and Churchill are my most important players, but not one of them are good enough for league two. That and having 3 left backs in a 17 man squad, and only 2 centre backs will make it a bit challenging keeping anyone fit. But still, that's always an issue in these kinds of saves. Facilities are pretty poor, and the youth facilities etc will make it a bit of a challenge getting anyone decent through. Still, at least we've not sold a proper hilarious amount of season tickets...
  19. I’ve seen Blair Henderson play a couple of times this season, and he’s basically just a lower league Kris Boyd. Can’t recall him ever once doing anything in the build up, just him getting on the end of chances. Considering how poor we have been at actually creating chances, I’m not sure he’d be any good for us. That and I think he’s meant to have a pretty good job outside football, so may not be wanting to go full time.
  20. He’d be an improvement on Ally Roy and Lewis Mansell, and he has scored 7 goals in a fucking terrible Dundee side this season. I still don’t really want him though, especially if McDonald stays. Depends who else is available.
  21. He also has put forward the view that other teams don’t win the league because they don’t want it as much as Celtic, rather than anything else, and can’t understand why other teams don’t emulate Celtic’s groundbreaking transfer policy. All in all, I’d say that’s sufficient to ignore everything he ever says.
  22. Imagine the audacity needed to think you can have a go at another club, while simultaneously supporting Clyde.
  23. I enjoyed the suggestion that he'd been told he'll never play for Thistle again over this, as if that wasn't already the case anyway.
  24. Exactly this. Storey, to be as fair as possible, was far from the worst player for us on Saturday. The whole defence were a rabble, Harkins was absolutely abysmal, I don’t think Spittal played well, Fitzpatrick was pish when he came on and Gordon was, largely, anonymous. But I think the absence of McDonald, and his replacement with a guy who seems to have very little idea what he’s supposed to do may have contributed to some of the other performances being as poor as they were. It’s so frustrating because add just a wee bit of footballing ability and Storey would be a huge asset. The ease with which he got through on goal just with his pace for the first one on one he missed was great, but you just know he’s not going to score. Same with the one where he found himself free on the edge of the box and proceeded to not do anything at all with it. To his credit, he did some good stuff on Saturday but it gets cancelled out when he continually picks the wrong option in the final third, or just plain makes an arse of it.
