  1. Whilst I understand what you are saying I'm not convinced there won't be a fair bit of backlash on Clyde following this move. Whether it effects things on the pitch is another matter but it could have an influence for sure. I agree with everything else though. If anyone goes on a run of even 3 or 4 good results it could push them a few places higher in the league due to the inconsistencies across the whole table!
  2. I actually don't think it was, even though I'm not surprised. The situation is so, so different from what it was a couple of months ago. I always disagreed that he was being allowed to lay low and fly under the radar at Clyde. I very much doubt that will be allowed to happen now, and rightfully so! Should have been the case all along. That doesn't even take into consideration the way he acted in manipulating his move in January. Proper shitebag and horrible actions from Clyde.
  3. I agree with this and in particular the part in bold. I think it was Jan who mentioned the amount of draws Clyde have. But it isn't just Clyde. Every other team (except East Fife) have picked up more of these wee points and that is 100% why we are sitting where we are in the table. Between the Clyde game at home where we lost a lead and the Airdrie away game where we drew level and our 'keeper chucked one in we could be 3 points better off, above Peterhead and only a couple of points behind Clyde. Fine margins make big differences.
  4. Well, yesterday "looks" like a tough one in the situation. Coming back from 3 down and then the 2nd sending off as we are in the ascendancy. Then scoring again. The 9 men etc. The Airdrie march likewise. Clyde we scored late on and then conceded later. I didn't once say it is my opinion that we have been unlucky with lots of games this season. The point is that we have had too many almost results which basically means we have come up short. In a post last night I said we simply don't have the quality required and this is the main reason for it, IMO. Trying hard when you aren't quite good enough may appear to some like we are almost there.
  5. I've said in a few occasions this season and once again yesterday. We have had far too many almost results and not enough where we actually got a point or 3. On many cases we have felt hard done by or unlucky or we almost pulled level but not quite. This will ultimately relegate us unless we have a huge upturn in form.
  6. Depressingly, I had a memory flash up that we defeated "High Flying Hibernian" 3 - 2 at home just 6 years ago.
  7. It's not hard to see why the two teams are in the position they are after the defensive displays from both sides today. Unfortunately the red cards (correct or not), IMO, were the difference on the day.
  8. Checked back on the website and it definitely says he signed a 2 year deal so maybe not quite so easy as that.
  9. Think he also signed a 2 year deal if I'm not mistaken?
  10. An interesting point, I feel that all too often we have players who are too honest and don't go down when there is contact. But on the flipside, we have MacLean who spends way too much time on the ground.
  11. Yeah I don't think he has lost the dressing room at all. A mixture of terrible decision making (individual players and team selection from the manager) inconsistency and simply not being good enough (that is the managers fault but not him lost the dressing room). He doesn't select the best players in the right positions but I still think the players are playing for him. Your point about fan numbers is just absolutely bizarre and inaccurate. Peterhead is a hell of a journey and we never take mass amounts up to Balmoor. Attendances have risen since the start of the year, I think, with the re-emergence of the young sons in large numbers. The buses have struggled since they started trying to run them again this season. I reckon that is a lot down to COVID and perhaps down to finance in many cases too. My personal circumstances have changed and I can't commit to away days like I used to, for various reasons, but I regularly buy the stream and watch along at home.
  12. Yeah, football fans are fickle when it comes to these things. Murray had even let things go stale before he left. Aitken most certainly had overstayed his welcome and Duffy went when he should have. This isn't an improvement but I'm not convinced the likes of Stevie Aitken would have us any better off. His temperament and behaviour off the pitch was as much of a concern as the performances on it in the last year or two. That being said, the pressure is well and truly on Faz now. Nowhere near good enough today. The better performances in January look very much to have been a bit of bounce from a couple of new signings. Very much like how we started the season before being found out and struggling with no plan B (or plan A in many cases).
  13. Jeeez! Any other ref would have had a word and gave a final warning there. Guy just loves giving out cards ETA: It was a bookable offence but I stand by my point above.
  14. We literally cannot deal with the wind (again!!!). Just have to hope we cope better with having the wind. I don't expect much because we generally just end up overheating everything.
  15. Somebody better do it quick because I need to leave for my gig at 17:15 and I don't want to miss the end of the match* *unless we are losing 5 nil again... in which case I'll be delighted to leave early!
  16. Shame Josh isn't back but good to have Carswell in the middle again!! Hopefully we aren't bullied in the middle of the park and outfought like we were last week.
  17. Huge buzz around this game... especially considering the importance it could have on our final positions at the end of the season. We're really blowing hot and cold but have indefinitely improved since the last game up in Peterhead and especially in the last 6 weeks or so. Hopefully we see the performance of Clyde away a couple of weeks ago. It'll certainly be much easier to play football on the surface at Balmoor compared to what we have at the Rock currently.
  18. Wasn't any better in the first game at your place either. Even contributed a goal for us I'm sure!
  19. Just catching up but plenty of observations to make for sure. I said it at the time but Wright's hesitancy at the first goal has cost us. It wasn't really his ball to come for but if he starts coming out he has to get there. Yes, defensively we should have been better. Whether it is Boyle or Wylde should be tucking back and tracking the runner... we have gave them a free run in behind. But if Wright stays then I think he can do more to stop the easy tap in. The first half we lost 99% of the 50/50 battles. For the first 10/15 mins of the second half we seemed much better, but quickly reverted to giving Alloa far too much respect and every time we did get to the ball first we lost out to the second ball. Alloa just wanted it more, possibly the bounce from getting rid of Ferguson and things. The winning goal is wrong in so many ways for me. If Paton is playing the ball to the defender then it needs to be a better pass. If it is meant for the 'keeper then it needs to be a better pass too (in my opinion we should never be playing the ball back like that given the state of the pitch). I don't think we can forgive Wright's any responsibility with it though. I reckon he probably had just about enough time to put his foot on the ball and play an easier pass away. Im criticising Paton above but he was great overall yesterday and his finish was superb. Carswell and him have been brilliant the last few weeks and we missed Carswell yesterday more than we have for a long time. I don't think it is coincidence that those 2 were awful throughout our terrible run but as they have came onto a game we have been looking much better. Duthie deserves a wee mention again. I feel like I say it every week, but if he had better end product and decision making then he'd be the best player in our squad. He gives everything every week and I don't think you'd find a fan who disagrees with that. But he just comes up short on quality a little too often. Why did/do we give so much respect to other teams when we seem to be at our best taking the game to opponents and playing our own way? Also worth noting how the subs yesterday had little impact (other than Joe hitting 4 corners at the end). Hopefully we can get Josh and Carsy back next week and get back to it!
  20. Probably because we can't afford the luxury of someone who offers little to nothing in between the odd decent set piece delivery? Likewise young Wilson. Looks likes a boy in a man's game every week when he comes of the bench.
  21. I'm not so sure! Other than MacLean's shot and the 'keeper being pushed over the line I didn't think we looked like scoring at all today. Great finish from Paton though. Hasn't been much in the game but we're losing the midfield battle and Alloa are moving the ball around slightly better than we are without threatening too much. Hard to say but, Wright moved to come out and collect the ball in the lead up to goal we lost but hesitated and backtracked. Not sure if it cost us or just the horrific defending (bit of both perhaps).
