So here we are (if my count is correct) with 15 games to go . Six home games and nine away . Wow that is a tough run in   . If we are only bringing in only one or two on top of .Gandoh they had better be decent and they better be motivated . In short we need Drinan’s and Doohan’s rather than Anderson’s and Afalabi’s . Hopefully our recent history of brining guys up from England and getting performances out of them will continue .  So let’s try and be positive about the high possibility of Ben Dempsey coming in next week . Apparently he’s the holding midfielder we’ve been waiting on . This one move will get Aero back to his best position and probably McGinty out the team . Rumours are there is a second loan coming up from England , forward ? Or another midfielder ? Dunno . Either would be welcome .

So Accies away on Saturday on 4G . Must give O’Conner 90 mins , same for Tomi regardless of any alleged strop ! Tomi and his goals might just be the key to our survival .  Actually tempted to stick Gondoh up top with him for an hour . Murdoch and the new boy in the centre and Maxwell on the other flank if need be . Three points on Saturday would be massive .... so all aboard , it’s going to be bumpy and games will run our pretty quick .....

Do you just try to get almost every player’s name wrong or are you really that dim?

The English non League scene is certainly a potential source for players and one we've used relatively well in the last couple of years. We picked up Ayo Obileye and Nortei Nortey last season (& indirectly Izzy Jones). This year Josh Debayo, Udoka Chima and indirectly Roberto Nditi. Chima has been injured all season and Nortey was injured for a large portion of last year but the others have done pretty well. Obileye played every game and got himself a move into the Premiership. Izzy Jones granted had already been picked up by Middlesbrough but he was an absolute star and thats showing now with him English Championship Player of the Month for December. Josh Debayo and Roberto Nditi have played every game they've been fit for since signing.

With defenders in particular in short supply in the Scottish game at the moment its a good source of players. From the players point of view it is a far higher profile place to play and if young and no ties down South they can get themselves noticed and maybe pick up a bigger side up here or down South (see Obileye or Niuble for that matter).

I think people tend to write off non-league players without a second thought but there are plenty of players who have served their time in the conference who have gone on to have very successful careers, non more-so than Jamie Vardy.

Not suggesting that every signing works out but it’s got to be worth a punt rather than scraping around for Scottish Prem Rejects.

Got more experience than Bartley, McManus and O’Dea combined and played at a much higher level for longer

Kevin Thompson has not played at a higher level for longer than McManus. McManus made more than double the appearances for Celtic than Thompson made for Rangers and has almost 5 times as many international caps…..

. It’s not quite the same as Mark Kerr as I think there’s a difference from appointing from outside the club to just promoting from within but it’s along the same lines. Hopefully it works out very differently this time.

    Totally agree.

Mark Kerr was a wholly uninspiring choice. Can’t see how he was ever going to motivate a team and had limited coaching experience.

All the “inexperienced” names being mentioned now have far more experience than Kerr had.

Given the absolute dearth of decent available managers, what is the thinking on Sheerin? Is he another Mark Kerr (ie great player, probably thought too much about things to be good manager) or is he actually a good shout and Falkirk is just too much of a basket case for anyone to succeed?

Or is he too much north east to bother thinking about?

He was very highly regarded at Aberdeen as a coach. Not all coaches make good managers though.

I think we’d be crazy to consider him.

I was going to watch them to see what went wrong at the second goal but its on black and white tv meaning I have to go to twitter, because the web address doesn't work, find a direct link to a page on the website, try 5 times to log in, re-set my password and wait 10 minutes for it to load.

    So I haven't watched it.

But the problem is all yours because Black & White TV works perfectly well apparently 🙄

I feel it's worth pointing out that failing a trial with a different Scottish team is not an ideal harbinger. (This does not apply to St Mirren. Anyone who fails a trial at St Mirren should be signed immediately.)

Also that having a trial with someone else doesn't mean he'd get signed by Ayr immediately. He might get a trial with Ayr, and fail. Which hasn't exactly been uncommon this summer.

You seriously need to lighten up… 🙄

Has anyone checked that this O'Connor chap doesn't follow every other full time team in Scotland? emoji102.png

He follows Celtic, Livi, St Mirren and us

He’s Irish so naturally supports Celtic. Had a trial at Livvy and is mates with Jamie McGrath at St Mirren.

    Must mean he’s signing….

    Spoiler

    Or maybe not…..
