  1. The photo was probably "taken out of context" and he was "misquoted" when/if he made any sectarian comments. That's probably the official line. It will boil down to how important a player he is for you, and I've no idea how he is perceived by the Club and supporters in that context. If he is a vital player for Falkirk and the story is accurate, then excuses will probably be made but if he is expendable then he will probably not be as well defended. Anyway, Innocent 'til proven guilty, but there's no place in football, especially for a player, who behaves like this. There's enough Neanderthals supporting the bigot brothers without players allegedly getting involved.
  2. It was the Manager's remarks that he decided to go more attack minded V Dundee United which suggests that prior to that he had favoured a more defensive mindset. Playing two up front doesn't always guarantee an attacking game if they don't get decent service or you're sitting deeper and relying on counter attacks which doesn't always materialise. Yes, United's defence was poor and we took advantage, the problem is that other defences may be just as fragile but we haven't been testing them enough.
  3. According to his after-match comments in today's D&G Standard our Manager said they decided to be more attack minded than defensive on Saturday as it gave them a better chance of getting a result. Whoda thunk it? He's finally realised that increasing your chances of scoring goals by playing your top two scorers together and two attacking wide men actually gives you a better chance of winning games. Pity he didn't have this "brainwave" about four games ago.
  4. Hopefully he can get up to speed fairly quickly and get more minutes on the pitch in the remaining games.
  5. That kind of attitude will never catch on. It would be a lot easier getting behind the players and management if they actually approached games with a positive try and win attitude rather than try not to lose mindset. That doesn't mean going all kamikaze obviously. Our defence is decidedly shaky so it makes sense to try and keep the ball further up the park. A bit of actual football would be greatly appreciated too rather than the ball spending most of the time up in the air and players playing head tennis. It's a bit more than breezy in Dumfries today and if tomorrow's the same then we can expect a dire game if the ball is just lumped up in the air at every opportunity. One prediction I will make is that, if Robinson is in goals, that he and Murray will have a pushing/shoving moment some time during the game. It's happened in every game so far. I would be delighted, and greatly surprised, if we picked up three points, a draw would not be too shabby but the team will need to be on their top game to get anything from this. Gerintaethem. Edit: This should probably be on the Match thread but the sentiments the same for every game.
  6. The beer aisle in my local supermarket in as far away from the entrance door as possible. Having to dodge past people with trolleys full of food and other non-essentials both there and back does my head in.
  7. Co-managers? Nooooooo! Have you forgotten the Rowe/Eadie partnership? One manager with an able assistant is the best format IMO. Dobbie's family still based in Fleetwood (?) would be another drawback also. Anyway, we've still got a Manager in position and I'm not sure he will be going anywhere soon.
  8. Without knowing any actual figures I would doubt if the "full time" wages paid to most players with clubs such as Queens, Raith Rovers, Livingston, Airdrie and the like are sufficient as the only income that the players have so it is possible that, given the amount of time they have free, some do have other outside income sources. Chris Higgins as one example runs a gym I believe. A few will obviously be undertaking work in preparation for their playing days ending.
  9. We are probably as "full time" as most of the other full time teams in the division.
  10. Apologies if this is covered elsewhere but is Hilson injured again, and if so what's the injury this time.
  11. Surprised to hear we've brought in another midfielder when it's obvious that the centre of defence was more of a priority imo. Maybe there's a bit of preparation for next season behind the decision. Still, I shouldn't really be surprised at any of the Manager's decisions.
  12. Not just him but the whole ITV commentary team and studio pundits during England games. They did at least have Ryan Giggs last night for a "neutral" viewpoint. I don't know how neutral he was as I tuned out when they were on. It's annoying I agree but would Scottish commentators be any different if we ever won a major tournament. (However unlikely that is under present circumstances.)
  13. Doesn't sound to me that you parked in the most sensible spot so share part of the blame.
  14. I thought you were meaning the tanning and female waxing salon but that's Waxy Aw' Corners.
  15. Petrol station at one of the local Tesco's is closed for a few days for refurbishment. Surrounded by hoardings. Do they put signs up telling you of the closure before you turn off the main road? Do they turn off the petrol price and opening hour signs? No! That would be too sensible, they'd rather have cars and hgv's coming in and having to turn away again. Problem is the hoardings aren't noticeable because of fencing and trees on the approach.
  16. You'll want a medium then, not in shirt size but to get in touch with Billy Smart. Piss even more people off, go for Dobby.
  17. Depends if Mercer has got his legs untangled following the roasting he took on Saturday. Mercer and Rankin are imho proving to be poor signings. They are here for next season too I think. Mercer may improve, and there's plenty room for improvement, but giving Rankin a two year deal was a poor decision by the Manager/BOD.
  18. Reconsider my earlier post, on today's showing a fuckin liability. (So is Rankin but that's a different story). Mercer taken to the cleaners more times than my demob suit.
  19. Personally for me just not good enough yet for this level. He's been at left back for last two games and looked a bit lost whilst at right back he was either good or shaky. Inconsistent probably the best description but our overall defensive displays have been poor so a bit harsh to judge him in that set-up.
  20. Agreed, but is our present goalie/coach not signed up for another season? Alexander may be out of our price range and probably has higher ambitions than mid-championship football plus I can't see him or Robinson happy to be bench warmers.
  21. Tourists in Edinburgh who press the buttons to cross at road juctions then cross before green crossing light shows just cos no traffic us coming. Result is when they do have the right to cross there's no-one waiting to cross and traffic is held up needlessly.
  22. I quite like Frank Skinner and Room 101 but it bugs me the way he turns every guest's item round to a story where he can talk about himself. Richard Madeley, who I detest, is the same when interviewing people. He'll ask his guest a question then butt in and start talking about himself and Judy. I know it's easier just not tuning in but sometimes he has a guest on that you want to hear about but he's more interested in talking about himself. Cretin of a man.
  23. So doing insurance companies out of work. You wouldn't have a job if everyone took this course of action. Good luck anyway.
