  1. Probably 'cause it's being mentioned on the Domestic Cup thread, you know the thread for discussing domestic cup competitions.
  2. It must have been frustrating for Hamill being dropped to the bench and watching Mercer faff about, then when Mercer gets dropped Naysmith pulls one of our best midfielders back to RB and Hamill doesn't even make the squad. I would think his release couldn't come quick enough for him. He wasn't perfect but was certainly a better option than moving Jacobs to that position. He should do ok with the cleyholers.
  3. You're spot on. Book me into the home now. Confusing Paton M. as a defender had me stumped. I think I just saw the name Paton and got the wrong bloke. I'll stop digging now.
  4. My memory is certainly playing up, I didn't think he had been with us that long. I'm sure he missed fairly lengthy spells during a couple of seasons through injury.
  5. ..... as well as a dodgy hamstring. Just when he looked like he was on form and ready for a decent run in the team you could bet his hammy would go. Having said that I also thought he was a bit special.
  6. I am admittedly old school in my concept of what is expected of full backs, primarily to defend but able to push forward when occasion permits. Obviously modern tactics dictate that so called full backs are expected to add an extra attacking threat but I still think defensive capabilities are just as, if not more, important.
  7. Guff wasn't too shabby a right back, certainly worth including given some of the other names being put forward. I have to chuckle when people say a player was a good RB but not very good defensively. Surely that's the minimum you expect from a defender, if he's good going forward that's a bonus.
  8. He'll need to fight for it. As a matter of interest how many votes did Robinson get in the Championship Team of the Season Thread compared to Martin. If Naysmith brings in an obviously better keeper and doesn't play him as first choice it will only confirm the doubts held by some that he is not up to the job. I also wonder what Naysmith made of the fact that a keeper who had been out of competitive football for a year managed to secure a two year contract as well as being made goalkeeping coach. I have no problem with Robinson's goalkeeping ability if he only concentrated on that and ditched the stupid behaviour. Regarding the earlier debate about Baird's departure, I would be surprised if Baird was actually directly involved in any discussions about leaving Queens and going to another club. I'm sure the player's agent would be doing the business, putting out feelers and even talking to other clubs if he felt that the player was unhappy and looking to move on.
  9. Indeed Lee indeed. Having great memories has nothing to do with it, it's how you perform now that matters. I don't get this view that just because you were part of a good team a few years ago (in a lower division btw) that you have a lifetime exemption from criticism. I sincerely doubt Robinson will be first choice next season, Martin was widely regarded as one of the best keepers in the division, but if he is then he has to concentrate more on his goalkeeping duties and forget the stupid antics.
  10. ^^^ This sums up a lot of supporters feelings as regards Robinson. If he concentrated on doing his job without the need for turning it into a sideshow he probably wouldn't get the negative reviews. The fact he is the "goalkeeper coach" with the responsibility that entails, he should be setting an example to younger keepers.
  11. TBF he did say Naismith and not Naysmith, so nothing to link it with Queens really. (If it did actually happen)
  12. What are you basing your assumption on that Queens will be clamouring to sign up Samson? We don't know what the Manager's opinion of Robinson is, and just because some fans are disappointed with his performances doesn't mean the Club share that view. With Atkinson gone we need a better backup than Leighfield I think, but finances may dictate if we can bring in someone more experienced. Neither Samson or Robinson will be happy to warm the bench I would imagine.
  13. A girl brings her boyfriend home to meet her parents for the first time. After about half an hour of embarrassing chit-chat and questioning the parents decide to leave the young couple alone in the living room but leave the door slightly open so they could secretly keep a eye on what was going on. After a couple of minutes the boy and girl started to kiss. "He's started kissing her" the dad reports to the mother. "Well we did that when we started going out" said his wife. "Dirty b*****ds feeling her tits now" the dad reports. "You had a feel of mine on our first date too" said the wife. " Now the dirty b*****ds got his hand up her skirt and she's starting to toss him off" the angry dad tells his wife. " We got up to that too" she replied. The dad goes back for another fly look. "Dirty manky b*****d" he says, " I certainly didn't do that in your parents house". "What's he doing now" asks his wife. " He's wiping his cock on the fuckin curtains"
  14. Those Just Eat type adverts where they say what meal they would like to order. They always want things like chicken teriyaki or sushi or quail in a white wine sauce. No-one ever orders things like a black pudding supper with a couple of pickled eggs and a can of coke. Pretentious arseholes. Also why do radio/TV announcers pronounce BBC Alba as Alaba?
  15. Separate counters for filled roll sales and chippy sales. Take-away only but it they do call it a café.
  16. In the chippy I go to there is a list of hot and cold filled rolls that are available. Included is BLT (bacon, lettuce, tomato). It annoys me that they think they need to put both BLT and (bacon, lettuce, tomato). If you go to the bother of saying what BLT is you don't need the BLT.
  17. If Robinson just cut out the Clown behaviour and concentrated on doing his job he would probably still be good enough as first choice. Whether he has the will or mentality to realise this is another matter. We definitely need a good back-up to keep him on his toes. Hopefully his antics regarding time wasting aren't encouraged or condoned by the management.
  18. I was out for a stroll along a quiet path this morning when a smart female jogger ran past me. About thirty yards past me she started to stagger about then she collapsed. When I got to her she was out cold so I decided to try and resuscitate her. I loosened some of her tight clothing, put my lips to hers and breathed in and out. After about thirty seconds she came round and sat up. "What are you doing" she asked. "Trying to resuscitate you" replies I. " But you're supposed to blow in my mouth lips not my pussy lips" she said. I replied "I don't know why you're making such a fuss, it fucking worked didn't it."
  19. You would hope with all his experience Naysmith would be able to spot a decent right back, or know which ones to avoid. He's had a good clear-out, whether you agree with some or not, and he may have been more ruthless but was hindered by some having another year left on their contract, but it will be more his team next season so he will have to stand or fall by the players he brings in. Hopefully he had put out a few feelers regarding replacements for centre backs before he chopped the two that we had.
  20. If we are even thinking about targeting players like Webster, who struggled badly in another Championship side, or any from East Fife, etc, it would show a complete lack of ambition by the Manager/BOD. There are good players in the lower divisions but it's a gamble if they can make the step up right away (Mercer as an example). If we don't at least try and bring in some quality players, especially in defence, I can see us relying on Dobbie's goals again to survive in this division. The Manager certainly has a bit of work to do in the summer and let's hope the BOD give him the backing (financially at least) that is needed.
  21. I felt Dowie was made a bit of a scapegoat for some collective poor defending resulting in him spending the last few games on the bench. A personal choice but I've always preferred Dowie to Higgins but there's not a great deal between them. They've both served the club well but I'm not too surprised they're going. As for Hilson, I think he played a major part in us leading the table early in the season with his pace and directness. Maybe just coincidence but we started to flounder when he picked up his injury, although some behind-the-scenes events were probably more or a reason for our plummet down the table. He would probably have been a risk to keep but as I would have taken the chance. Tapping has similar injury history but he has been kept on. Maybe the club has taken doctors advice regarding who to keep.
  22. Wouldn't waste my cash phoning in to this crap. Found out. I didn't have a decent sob story. Also all my friends and family had told me I was a born star and pushed me into it. Turns out they were lying b*****ds. If only some of the others that go on the show had been told the the truth too we would be spared a lot of crap acts. Besides anything with those two Geordie twats in it sucks.
  23. Britain's Got Talent I don't watch this through personal choice but when out visiting a friend it was on. (Her house, her rules apparently) When a singer comes on they sing about two notes and the audience start cheering/whistling/applauding. If you shut up we might actually hear if they have talent, keep your cheering/whistling and applauding to the end if deserved. The judges gave one bloke (hoopman?) 4 buzzers yet he still was voted through. What's the point of the buzzers then? A young lad came on to sing, preceded with a story about his ill gran which is what his song was about. Never mind the sob story, come on, say your name and sing, level playing field for all. The judges and audience were welling up, IMO he was crap. Britain's Got Talent it's called so why were four Russian dancers/gymnasts on it. Admittedly they were very fit and very supple but it was hardly promoting British talent. And we had those talentless twats Kant and Wreck putting in their tuppence worth from the side of the stage.
  24. Firstly, how do you know it's a she? It's not a pet, it only comes there because it knows it's a feeding ground, don't feed it and it will eventually go away, or die from starvation. What does it shout when it's sitting on the fence? "Hoi you lazy bugger, get oot here and feed me and it better no be fucking bread again"
  25. So would I but it goes against the Manager's preference for a tall target man up front for the keeper to hoof the ball up to. Nothing wrong with that tactic occasionally but we seem to do it continually and usually with a poor end result. I can't get too emotional about Higgins and Dowie leaving. I've never been a great fan of Higgins playing wise and Dowie hasn't been at his best since the opening quarter of the season. Granted they have served the Club well since they have been here, especially Higgins carrying out his captain's duties, but they, and Brownlie, continually do my head in when they back-off opponents running at them allowing them to get into dangerous positions. It often ends with them giving away stupid fouls around the penalty area and our record of (not) defending those is clear to see. We need commanding central defenders, whether Naysmith has the ability, or money, to recruit better than we have let go remains to be seen. His recruitment up to now has been suspect to say the least.
