  1. ^^^ My thoughts exactly. I don't think anyone who saw him playing for us last season can say he wasn't a reasonable success playing on the "wrong" wing.
  2. In a choice between Rankin and Jacobs I personally know which one I prefer to start, it's Jacobs. IMO Rankin tends to drift out and in games whereas Jacobs seems to stay involved more. Jacobs has slightly more pace for getting back to cover and he's better in tackles, although he can be a bit wasteful with distribution I agree. We may still be trying to get Dom Thomas for all we know but the teams you mentioned will be strong contenders for his services. As far as I know McFadden hasn't signed yet. I take it you mean is he only going to be our only other signing as we have signed a some others already.
  3. He's been exactly the player I thought he would be too. Unfortunately
  4. It's probably all part of the deal for the SDUP to back Theresa May. Promote all things Irish.(The North part anyway).
  5. That's a perfectly reasonable explanation(for you). There's not a lot of difference between "not sure when he signed" and "not sure am". Try taking the goalkeeper's gloves off before you type (trype) Lee.
  6. I'm struggling to think of many, if any, games that Rankin was dropped from the starting line-up. He was maybe hooked a couple of times during games. I tend to agree that, overall, these two players' performances have been underwhelming.
  7. Lot of people wanting Joe Thomson back, it would be a good move for us, but is there any actual evidence that the Club are even enquiring about getting him back or that the player actually wants to come back. Just because he was on loan here last season doesn't mean it'll happen again. I hope it does.
  8. Tufty probably told them. More likely that someone goes out and leaves a trail of nuts leading over the bridges and the squirrels follow the nuts. Even more likely is that they see some of their relations getting squashed crossing the road and the eventually realise it's safer to use the bridge. Squirrels are essentially climbing creatures anyway.
  9. The broadcasting rights of Rangers TV have been purchased by the Comedy Channel.
  10. It never rains for more than four hours at a time in Scotland.
  11. Trump you all with Mike and Bernie Winters.
  12. He's down to make another "trialist" appearance tonight at Annan. Opinion divided if he would be a good signing or not. We have Dobbie and Lyle up front, hardly a pacey pairing, and McFadden wouldn't really add anything to that. I think a lot of those who are in favour of him signing are going by the player he used to be. He'll still have a sharp football brain but whether we can afford a luxury bit part player with our relatively small squad is another matter. I hope it's not a jobs for pals signing by our Manager.
  13. Fidget Spinners were devised by the Department of Human Studies at Hull University to gauge the gullibility of people to buy needless, hyped up gadgets. A spokesperson for the University reported that people's gullibility had by far exceeded what they forecast.
  14. I'm sure he has considered that option. He will no doubt make up the difference by only paying concession rates at away games. (Not that I could condone this)
  15. If it takes as long to get a VAR decision as it has in the trials they won't have any skin left on their hands. That brings me back to tennis, but is the camera angle during women's tennis not as low or close in as it used to be when Chrissy Evert was at her peak. I'm sure I didn't need my chair so close to the telly back then. On the plus side it does make wiping the screen a bit easier.
  16. Fleetwood Town will obviously be a higher level opposition but it all depends on what type of team they put out. They may do a "Rotherham" and play their Development side.
  17. My friend would never knowingly diddle the club he supports, whichever one that may be, as for other clubs however, his conscience may not bother him so much.
  18. Result doesn't matter, it's a training game, all about fitness and trying different tactics. It won't give much indication of what the season ahead holds. Go with that in mind and you won't be disappointed.
  19. Whether to buy a concession season ticket: Asking for a friend who turns 65 about 3 months after the season starts, but would it be acceptable to ask for a concession season ticket rather than pay for a full price one bearing in mind my friend will be eligible for the concession prices for about 3/4 of the season. It's not a question of cost (honestly) but he wants to apply for his ticket with a clear conscience that he's not diddling his club (which may or may not be QoS)
  20. Wimbledon Tennis, the crowd hand clapping whilst they wait for a Hawkeye decision. Childish behaviour that you would expect from hooray Henrys and Henriettas I suppose. Also the way that the media make "personalities" out of sportsmen's families. Would we even have heard of Judith Murray if her sons hadn't been successful.
  21. Hoping a bit of ability rubs off on him. That's probably the closest he'll get.
  22. Obviously very little can be read into yesterday's result/performance but it's not a great start to our pre-season preparations. Hopefully there's another couple of signings or loan deals in the pipeline. Luckily we have cup games before the league campaign gets underway which should give a better indication of how we will fare. I think I'll hold off rushing out for a season ticket 'til nearer the time.
  23. Whilst it is nice to win, even for just the confidence and morale aspect, it really is all about fitness and trying things out at this stage. The main point for me is calling these games Pre-season friendlies, presumably charging admission, when they are merely glorified training games when countless substitutions can be made. I suppose it's always good for fans to get a look at new players but I would rather we played two or three games like this behind closed doors then, when the Manager has a better idea of his preferred starting 11, we have a couple of proper friendlies which would give fans a better indication of what to expect in the season ahead. I suppose the counter argument is that the season starts earlier, games are harder to fit in and it's more of a squad game now, but from a fans point of view I don't see much to encourage me to go to games like this. (Apart from a day out in lovely Cowdenbeath)
  24. You're probably correct that there's always something extra that could be done to reach out to potential fans but the match advertising at present must surely be adequate enough if you have the slightest intention of attending games. Social media is probably the cheapest and most widely available method that could be used, other medias probably cost money which is slightly defeating the object of getting more cash into the club. It's the same with the "matchday experience", to improve that would cost money. Everybody has a different idea of what their matchday experience should be like anyway. Whether free entry for kids at the cup games will reap any benefits we will just have to wait and see.
