Taking a wee step back, this is both very weird and very good for Labour in England.
Weird because she should have gone to Reform. They only have to put up with her till the election (she is not standing again) but she is really not Labour in any sense. She is utterly out of place.
Good because the morons who actually decide elections, those right wingers across England but have three brain cells to rub together, will read into this "our woman, gone Labour" and might actually not slavishly vote for the blue rosette this time.
Genuinely, about 4 or 5 years ago I was contacted by a headhunter about a job in Nottingham. It was a no brainer for me - couldn't afford it. House prices trump taxes by a huge margin. I would be a lot worse off.
I'm paying nearly £2k more than if I lived in England. But I get a lot of that back in free tuition, prescriptions, lower house prices, etc. Plus, as a bonus, I don't live in England.
Can someone convert this in terms of irn bru cans?
Sorry for your loss mate.
When my dad died last year I took 4 days - the day he died and the next day, and the day of his funeral and the day after. I probably could have taken more. It was 3 weeks or so from death to funeral, and I really didn't want to not work in between.
My sister's employer gave her 4 weeks off.
