  1. I'm beginning to panic. We're getting close to four
  2. Lots of happy memories come flooding back. Forgot about this. An absolute classic
  3. I have been totally immersed in the Rovers in many different ways for over 65 years and have lived and worked in the far north of Scotland for nearly 50 years where I still reside. You can always take the man out of Fife but never Fife out of the man. To be frank and honest I find your condescending comments on life in the Highlands in a number of posts a bit boring and highly stereotypical.
  4. Unusually refreshing for this fixture both in result and refereeing
  5. A draw will do given our honking record in Inverness. Results elsewhere not too clever but just shows how topsy turvy and low quality there is in the Championship this season
  6. A cash cow makes even more sense! How we all wish
  7. Hi Folks. Needing a bit of help with this if at all possible. Back around the time when the iconic RemembeR strip was unveiled, somebody painted a miniature model figure of a football player in phenomenal detail and sent it to Jack Alexander at MacCrea's Battalion Trust. The miniature model figure stands approximately 5-6 cms tall. The Trust would appreciate knowing who went to such skilled endeavour so that their name can be added to the archives along side the model. Many thanks in advance for any information received.
  8. It's already an absolute shoo-in for the 'Dee. We have nothing to offer in defence and attack. We'll play attractive passing football from 18 yard box to 18 yard box but be worse than useless unfortunately in either of these said boxes.
  9. Absolutely no feeling of surprise in this quarter either.
  10. Whaur's Bene these days? Oh aye! Of course. Silly me!
  11. Really not bothered in any way what a strip looks like. Much more importantly is the quality of player inhabiting said strip. This one is definitely retro, especially around the neck and sleeves with the red and white bands. Exactly the same as that of the early 1960's when worn by folk like Dennis Mochan, Willie Wallace, Bobby Stein, Willie Polland Et al.
  12. Now that's humour I can easily relate to Being serious for a moment, I see what you mean though after looking at the Ian Murray interview.
  13. Plenty available outside Glasgow Central! Spoilt for choice.
  14. Dan came from Cupar and was a couple of years or so behind me at Bell Baxter. He had a big brother called Findlay, better known as Fin,(I think now deceased) who played with Newburgh Juniors and then signed for Rangers. He didn't make the breakthrough there though. I'm fairly sure Fin was in the same cricket 1st eleven with George Lyall, if you want a Rovers connection. Dan is back row last on right. This is first XI Bell Baxter team 1969-70.
  15. Absolutely not the case. You'll find that by the late 1890's football clubs in the top two leagues in Scotland were all professional with the occasional amateur player on their books. Indeed the Scottish players were greatly sought after by, especially, northern English clubs that had gone professional. Early top clubs such as Preston North End, Darwen, Blackburn Rovers were desperate to get the "professors" (name given to Scottish professional players) into their clubs. QP chose to stay amateur for so long because it was part of the whole ethos of the club. They were last in the top league in 1957-58 season being relegated with East Fife. As far as I can recall the club is/was structured around members who voted for a committee. Said committee and members of the club voted narrowly to go professional when Willie Haughey decided to bankroll them. I await to be to be corrected by a Spider's fan.
  16. Tam likely to have a better grasp of the tactics on tonight's showing so far. Christ! Even Isa would!
  17. Could be Dundee but if St Johnstone contrive to get relegated then it's likely to be Arbroath if they are still in the Championship. Hell, it might even be Cove Rangers depending on how things work out.
  18. Well done guys on acquiring the services of John and Smudger. Two top guys in general. I doubt you'll regret it. He'll have you playing "McGlynn ball" by September, October if not before and then you're on your way. Indeed there's every chance we'll be passing each other at the end of next season. But please be patient with the two of them. They need time. Miracles don't happen overnight.
