  1. Honestly never seen an issue with Smith's attitude, disappointing if he's went there thinking he's Billy big time.
  2. Yes he's decent on the ball so maybe why he's being looked at. He is also big and quick. He's strong too but doesn't really use it to his advantage, maybe he can learn that. Smith surprises me. He always looked decent for us if not quite top level. His loan spell at Scunthorpe was a big success too. I know it's a shite level but he stood out massively. That said there's a difference coming in and out occasionally to a team doing reasonably well than being relied upon for a team struggling.
  3. I think he has potential. However, he looks like he needs to learn when to be aggressive in the air and has to work on his decision making. Not sure a young guy with potential is what you guys need just now, especially on loan.
  4. Genuinely felt sorry for Gray having to field questions about Foley's comments after that friendly last night. Being a manager at a club that have struggled like Hibs have the last few season is difficult enough for people coming into it without having someone like Foley casting doubt on his appointment. Even if it's not Foley's intent, it leads to awkward situations for Gray like that interview. He's a couple of months into the job without having played a league game yet and he's having to address whether he has the backing of guys above him. Not ideal at all for a rookie and it's not particularly fair for a guy who's given so much to your club. He's already under pressure externally to show he can handle the job without it coming from the BK group too.
  5. Unless it's changed, I'm almost positive that you can play in the B team as long as you don't make over 5 appearances for the top team. Once you do that your tied to the main team, but you're free to be availablefor selection for both. Being on the bench doesn't count unless you play.
  6. Sounds great. Think we are pretty far down the line with it, permanent as well which is tremendous if so. We have Beni who's class but we'll play over 50 games next season, we need another in that role.
  7. I think that's exactly why we've done it tbh. Fulton will likely drop out for the euro squad but be the 3rd choice first team goalie in the league while Jamie plays for the B team. Pretty sensible move. Fans favourite, will be a good mentor for the young goalies, only 2 in the B team are 16, and help the young defenders as well with his communication. Plus frees up a euro squad space.
  8. Sibbick away to Wigan for an undisclosed fee. Decent-ish move for him and good to get it done if he's no part to play. He was very good when he was good, but struggled a bit with concentration. I think he'd have been very good if he got a proper run in one position, but he always gave his all and seems a good lad. Wish him all the best, we'll always have Easter Road.
  9. What was Boateng like last season? Seen a journalist say we are interested in him? I thought he looked good in the 3-2 game at Tynie, but don't watch you guys closely enough to know if he'd be a decent signing.
  10. As said above he contributed very little. Think he definitely had ability but looked the kind of player you had to carry so you could benefit from the odd moment. Tbf I believe he was carrying a bit of a knock for a period but I was glad we never tried to make it permanent.
  11. And what about the 17 and 18 year olds we had playing? It's hardly like it was even close to our strongest team. We were missing about 6 players and had swapped the whole team in the 2nd half which is when it ran away from us. It's no really a big surprise that Spurs have a deeper squad than us. Their 2nd half lineup had a decent amount of experience in it even if it was young. I never exactly enjoyed it, but I also wasn't close to being embarrassed.
  12. Tagawa has to score, but I was encouraged by how pacey our attack looked with him up top and the positive is he was getting in great positions. Enough there between the end of the season and now to suggest he's coming onto something IMO. Also, if you're going to miss howlers better to do so in a friendly. Shanks is just ridiculous at this point. Not trained for 2 weeks and still scores with his first involvement.
  13. First half was alright for a friendly, pretty competitive and we had a good shape about us. Created some big chances and Taylor looks excellent. 2nd was disappointing but it was ruined as a game with so many subs. Yet again we end with Denholm and Dall at full back. You'd be lucky to get away with that against Raith Rovers so mental we are doing it here. Still as much as it ends up a pumping, for a large part I was pretty encouraged and we still have Vargas, Penrice, Beni, Boyce and Kingsley to come back in.
  14. The team that started wasn't really reserves was it? Maybe not their strongest lineup, but that wasn't expected They just signed Gray for £30m. Porro, Bissouma, Kulusevski, Son, Maddison and Johnson are all established players. Btw, £30 is far too much, but it was a strongish lineup. 2nd half that obviously changed but it still contained a Brazilian international, German imternational, a Swedish international they just spent £10m on and guys that were playing in La Liga and Serie A last season.
  15. Alan Forrest (Hearts) Josh Campbell (Hibs) Jordan White (Ross County) Sam Nicholson (Motherwell)
  16. Apparently we have a £500k payment coming if they get promoted too. That makes it look a good bit healthier if they do.
  17. I think it makes it even more likely we'll dig in for a fee for Shankland tbh. Not saying £5m, but we'd not be selling for as little as £2m for example. We are probably well aware if we keep him he won't sign an extension and he's gone for nothing, so it's even more important to not let assets like Cochrane leave for nowt like Ginnelly did.
  18. Cochrane confirmed as away, Hearts saying undisclosed but Hearts Standard I'm sure said it was about £1.3m with a sell on clause. Not amazing, he is worth more IMO but we've been burnt by letting contracts run down previously and we need to make money on some players so understand why we accepted it. He was desperate to get back down south for family reasons as well. Overall it's a bit cash rather than lose him for nowt and we still have Kingsley and Penrice so relatively well covered. All the best Alex.
  19. Totally, spending fees is not always the best use of cash. We spent nearly £500k on Kiomourtzoglo and it was just a waste. Was just responding to the point we'd not spent any money, we have.
  20. Came on to read about the news, didn't expect this turn of events. Fwiw my view is thatI agree, 3 is a psychotic number. Also agree toast should be buttered instantly and not left to cool.
  21. No that it really matters as I am not arguing Hibs are skint, but we've spent fees tbf. Made Vargas deal permanent which cost money and have paid an upfront loan fee for Taylor before it comes permanent next year. Also paid a fee for Oyegoke.
  22. Definition of a training session today. Basically 2 different teams we fielded, neither one will be close to one we'd risk in a competitive game. 2nd half the back 5 was Fulton, Denholm,Kent, Neilson Dall. If we attempt that in a real game I'd want Naismith strung up. No Vargas, Shankland, Clark, Hof, Beni, Kingsley or Penrice either. Halkett looks miles off it, but tbh I think that to be expected. He's barely played in 18 months, he needs games. Folk wanted Beni released when he first came back last season. On a positive I thought Boyce looked sharp and Dhanda looked decent.
  23. Contract extension for him would be great. Such a good player for us.
  24. I like that kind of top every so often, splits fans opinion but almost always sells well.
