  1. Hope you’re right but last season we had Dylan Reid on loan from St Mirren who lasted one month before being recalled by St Mirren by the end of February. Steve Robinson was appointed as manager around that period so I’m guessing he was recalled so he could assess him
  2. Genuine question; is there any possibility that Motherwell can still recall shields now the manager has been sacked? Worried that whoever the new manager is might want to have shields as an option in their squad for the rest of the season? He’s only played 2 games but I’ve been really impressed with his performances so far
  3. Can’t really say anything more other than disappointment. To go from a really solid and efficient performance against Ayr to a very naive and error prone performance within the space of a week was incredibly deflating. You could say we began to look ourselves again the last 20 minutes but you don’t deserve to win games of football when you’ve been rotten for the previous 70. We’ve lost to Morton twice now and there’s been no argument in either defeat. We were soft all over the place, never tried to impose ourselves and ultimately you could see the players become visibly frustrated but we played right into Morton’s hand. Calum Ferrie has had a fantastic season so far but there’s just no place to hide for him today. I could just about accept that first goal but it’s just sheer headloss for the 2nd. No need to start dribbling the ball in that area, just boot it anywhere. I’ve been really impressed with Morton against us this season. Despite Oakley scoring twice, Muirhead once again bullied the backline and his deliveries were excellent. Baird won everything that came at him and Quitongo was always threatening running 1v1. Maybe time to freshen the lineup now. McPake flatters to deceive far too often and Thomson maybe needs a game or 2 on the bench? Davidson certainly added a freshness in midfield and Healy looks a really promising young player out wide. Needs to bulk up so wouldn’t start him yet but would like to see Euan Henderson on the left next Friday
  4. I liked Quitongo. He was entertaining to watch but just has no output in him. He can glide by players all day to then shank a cross into the stand. Would of still kept him as a squad player in all honesty but he seems as though he’s finally overcome his awful injury record I think many opposition fans will have the partick thistle version of Tommy Robson in their heads and immediately think he’s a weak link but he’s honestly been the best left back in the league for me. Week in week out he’s incredibly consistent and he’s now just as strong defensively as he is going forward. Seems like he’s took over the captaincy from Murray since his departure which speaks volumes for much he’s improved as a player. Will be an interesting battle between Quitongo and Robson for sure
  5. Seems like you’re taking the break up well champ 5 stars for effort though
  6. Despite Morton’s recent poor set of results, you’d be foolish to suggest we’re gonna simply turn up and get the 3 points. As much as I’d love that to happen, Hamilton and cove have both proved last week that every game is unpredictable. Morton are very strong at home and the last encounter between the sides was the only game of the season so far where I left thinking we were completely out fought. We’ve came out of an incredibly difficult set of fixtures over the January period completely unscathed. The new signings of Oakley and Shields looked very positive last week but like what’s been said already, we need to see over the next few weeks the true impact of Murray’s departure. I personally think we’ll be okay but I’m slightly apprehensive when we end up against the teams at the bottom end of the table as they’ll more than likely set up very defensive. That’ll really show what Shields is about Will be a tough one but as always with this team I’m confident we can get the 3 points
  7. I’d say that’s a slight disservice to Kilday. Think there’s probably the perception that Kilday is just your bog standard middle of the road championship or even league 1 level defender and up until this season that would be a fairly accurate statement but he’s genuinely been outstanding this season. He had to carry Eze through many games and Ayr fans know best on what Eze is like at the best of times. I think for amazing as Fox has been, there’s definitely a few that would suggest that purely on performances this season, Kilday has been the best performing man at the back for us Fwiw I really rate musonda but he just seems permanently injured
  8. Took a couple of months to get into his stride this season but I’m totally gobsmacked at the level of improvement. His reading of the game, composure on the ball and weirdly enough the extra yard of pace he’s gained at 31 is incredible. He’s had fitness problems for several years and this seems to be the first season in a long time he’s been injury free and it’s showing now what a capable player he is. Fair play to him, 100% would offer another deal to him next season. He deserves it Based on performances this season, he’s definitely right up there for the top centre backs.
  9. Best player in the league quite comfortably for me. For a holding midfielder, I’ve never seen so many opposition fans across the season mention his name afterwards. He’s literally not did anything wrong ever for us. He’ll go on to have a fantastic career and we’re lucky to have him
  10. From the replays, ferrie was in the goal for the header but the ball definitely didn’t cross the line
  11. In fairness, even Bullen had no complaints about the penalty decision in his post match interview. Clear penalty and silly defending
  12. Huge result psychologically. We’ve struggled massively against Ayr so a big performance was needed. The defending for that 2nd goal was utterly atrocious in every sense and how Davidson was allowed to get by Mcginty with so much ease is beyond me. Daft penalty to give away aswell and it was nicely taken by Thomas. Think shields will do a job for us. Big, quick and and a general pest up top. Really liked the look of him. Lee Kilday is also the best defender in the world. The improvement this season has been unbelievable.
  13. Aye I’m genuinely curious to know roughly what type of contract county have offered here. No doubts he’d of been our highest earner but I heard that county had offered him a 3 year deal? Can’t begrudge him taking that deal at 31 if that’s the case. Bit of a risk for county giving that type of contract you think? Wouldn’t say he’s exactly premiership proven but I’d imagine he’ll do a job, he’s in the form of his life so good luck to him Can’t say I could bare to see him in the relegation play offs playing against us
  14. Share the same feelings regarding the bond this group of players have with the fans. Obviously winning games has helped in that aspect but there genuinely seems to be some great characters in this squad. I’ve noticed throughout several games this season that the players all usher the guys over to the fans when we score, particularly away from home. Even from the Inverness highlights, you see savoury getting Williamson over to the fans when he scores. You can tell how much Coyle values the supporters and he’s engrained that into the squad Must of been pretty awful for the players coming back from Inverness after the game. Would imagine word got around pretty rapidly regarding the ineligible Henderson.
  15. I think it becomes incredibly to difficult to keep someone on side once he’s made his mind to leave. We’ve got a fee at least but can’t imagine it’s anything obscene considering he only had 6 months left on his deal Minus the utter shambles that occurred with the cup last night, winning games without Murray against a solid enough team at this level is reassuring and I’ve no doubts we’ll give Ayr a much better account of ourselves than we have previously. He’s a massive loss but new boy Connor shields has been capable at championship level before and he will get plenty of chances from our midfield and wingers. A win for either side would be huge psychologically going into the run in
  16. Still more than good enough to comfortably make playoffs but can’t see us winning the league now. Even with Murray, I doubt we’d of won the league anyway but I’d of gave us more of a fighting chance. We’re not going to suddenly become less threatening overnight I don’t feel. Guys like Thomas, savoury, Thomson and Boateng are the ones who create incredible amounts for the striker. It’s just a case of hoping Shields or Henderson can also take some of those chances. I’m not expecting mad numbers from those 2 like Murray has this season but as long they are somewhat competent, they’ll grab some goals for us. We took care of Inverness last night relatively comfortably by all accounts(despite most likely getting booted out the cup). Goalscorers are like gold dust at this level so we’ll need to see if this bites us in the backside
  17. The only way I can think that we may get away with it was that Henderson had been taking part in the training throughout the week prior to him being announced on the social media accounts going by the photos. Maybe he was registered in time but can’t say I’m confident at all. Some day
  18. That doesn’t look great at all. Hope the club weren’t stupid enough to not check the eligibility rules
  19. Every reason to make it about a child I’d feel ? You’re not gonna become millionaires playing at this level so why not try and make as much money as you can for your family. Coyle seemed incredibly understanding of his situation on the radio. Let’s be honest, if he’s getting an offer that can’t allow us to compete with, it’s going to be a hell of a wage Going forward, it’s a hell of an opportunity for either Henderson or shields to make themselves a hero. Here’s hoping they do the business
  20. Quite possibly but I’m sure there’s many loopholes on how clubs and players can get out of pre contract deals if needs must. It’s not worth the risk to Murray and id imagine that could quite easily be a consideration as to why he may of wanted to leave now ?
  21. Knowing his injury history, say he done his knee again playing for us, would he want to risk potentially losing out on a deal at county where he’s getting substantially more money? I don’t blame him for leaving in all honesty despite how gutting it is for us fans
  22. Just listened to Coyle on bbc radio Scotland. Says Murray got an outstanding offer from county and we couldn’t compete with it at all, especially as he has a baby on the way
