Transfers Scotland reporting on X that QP are among a number of clubs keeping tabs on Andy Halliday. This is the exact type of hard b*stard we need in our midfield.

That said, I have zero confidence in him signing. Joy.

Would take in a heartbeat but no chance he’d join us

Also that Transfers Scotland page is useless, or at the very least take everything said with a pinch of salt. Convinced every rumour posted is found via pie and bovril or a Twitter comment from somewhere rather than an actual exclusive

A better performance from Queen's Park. If we could just defend corners! Paton's first goal was due to his hard work and the second pure skill. Thomson again put in a great performance. Mauchin did well at times and got some crosses in and showed some pace. Defending corners a priority along with some help for Paton

Car crash, gutless defending once again. Not better in the slightest for me, it’s the same old errors. If we could just defend corners, stop watching the opposition pass the ball and dribble at ease, stop taking a million years to shoot, stop playing children against experienced pros and stop continuing to have a caretaker, who was part of a shambolic coaching staff under Veldman guiding the team then we might muster 9th place

  3. Defence is truly abysmal. It’s beyond pathetic the amount of corners we concede now. Why are we not learning at all? Why do we never have a man on the line if we’re more likely to lose the first header? Surely this week we have some movement on the manger front ?

Reid after a couple of early positive  performances sadly looks a bit out his depth at this stage. Mauchin tried his best but again isn’t cut out for championship football at this stage of his career. Lucas McCormack as the first sub, seriously? Showed nothing as of yet that he’s going to change our fortunes.

Going to maybe assume Hepburn is finished now at the club ? Wouldn’t be surprised to hear his loan has been terminated this week. Not even in the squad

Also Ruari Paton has not and is not anywhere near close to being a problem for us this season. A 1 in 2 ratio for comfortably the worst side in the league is pretty astonishing and his free kick highlights the ability he has. 14 goals in all comps in half a season at the club surely an indication what numbers he could produce in a decent team. Only 4 goals off what Simon Murray produced by the end of January for what was the best team in the league at that point in time.

  4. Only started watching the stream a minute before thistle’s opener. Absolute stinking defending once again from a corner. Reid nowhere to be seen. Worst bit is that we’re losing headers to guys who aren’t even particularly tall in stature

An absolute gift from Sneddon who I’ve never rated tbh. Goal should do the world of good for Paton. Thistle have since looked slightly shaky but can’t see us not conceding given we fold under any sort of real pressure

And just a note to say that Jack Thomson deserves to be playing somewhere better. Many of us were surprised when his loan turned into a contract but he’s consistently been one of our better players since and once again yesterday, the best.

Totally agree. I thought he was superb first half and his pass that set Thomas completely free out wide was outstanding. A shame Thomas made a complete back side of it. No chance he sticks around in league 1 with us. Incredibly worrying given he’s a central midfielder that he’s now also our best centre back

  6. It’s abundantly clear that the players are gone mentally. Another week where we went from reasonably competent to an absolute disgrace between half time. I don’t think players have chucked it necessarily but there’s a few hiding in there when the going gets tough. Players acting busy but actually having zero impact or real desire for the team. We immediately started the 2nd half playing deep and yet we still end up getting sliced apart ? The amount of errors leading up to both of Airdrie’s goals were comical. Literally 20 seconds before the equaliser, Bannon produced an absolute howler only for Todorov to miss a sitter. Yet we still go and concede the resulting corner (how many corners have we conceded now in the exact manner?) The final goal was embarrassing. We were playing like we were chasing the game and had almost nobody back. Beyond forgivable given that we’re never learning

The manager has to be appointed as a matter of urgency as in before thistle on tuesday. We cannot go into arguably the most important and critical transfer window in our professional era and not have a manager making decisions to improve our dreadful and threadbare squad. If we show no urgency, we’re obviously content with league 1 football next season

January window approaching and we honestly need a good 6-7 players. Even though he’s had a less than impressive loan stint at Cove, I’d be looking to recall Williamson just an option on the bench when Paton is knackered.

    x2 central (experienced) Defenders

    Experienced central midfielder

    left back

    Striker (maybe even 2)

    winger

Given the lack of game time for both, I wouldn’t be surprised to see either Hepburn’s loan terminated or Healy loaned out. Both totally out the picture

  7. I think Paton is unfortunate that’s he’s probably still going to be compared to Simon Murray by some fans. Heard so many times at games throughout the season “oh he’s not quite Murray though isn’t he” “he doesn’t run about like Murray”. We’re playing in a much worse system this year which I think even Murray would struggle in all honesty. Paton’s goal return and efforts is commendable given the context of our season. Give him time and the right players around him and he’ll be excellent over his 3 years

  8. Been begging for a defensive performance like that for months now. We stopped the tippy tappy nonsense from the goalkeeper, defended our box confidently and the work ethic was superb. Nuijten’s been highlighting the need to do the jobs that don’t require talent more often and tonight was a clear improvement in that aspect. Yes, we did do virtually nothing going forward but until the defence is sorted, we’re going to get relegated with minimal fuss

Everyone played their part tonight but my motm was Jack Thomson. Placed in an unnatural position and absolutely bossed it. I’m such a Thomson fan when he’s on it and tonight reinforced my opinion he could go on to a higher level in the near future. Such a powerful player. Shoutouts to Longridge and Ferrie who were also excellent

Dundee United were quite rubbish.  Naturally as the game was progressing, I was expecting a moment of quality to separate the two sides but United actually seemed to get worse. We were beginning to win our battles in midfield and ultimately Paton should have buried his header from an excellent delivery. Tony watt particularly was chronic up top. Looked unfit and disinterested

Far from perfect but we needed this result and a sign there’s some resilience in the players. There’s a competent team there if the right manager comes in and he’s gets appropriate backing to sign 3-4 key players in January. Sets up the Airdrie match nicely next week. Huge game

As far as I know he's struggled with injuries recently. He hasn't played for Kelty in at least a couple of months.

I mean I’d be worried if he actually ended up getting registered instead of signing better players but if he’s maybe coming back from whatever injury he had, I don’t think I’d be majorly against the idea of him being cover on the bench 2nd half of the season. Takes the weight off guys like Reid who’s going to get thrown in the deep end very soon with Fox out and Tizzard being absolute gash

See to be honest, this isn’t a terrible shout. Crisis management stuff, but we are where we are. Played 150 in the Championship and is only 30, so you’d hope his legs still work.

That’s my thinking. I can’t see a scenario where he’s part of a coaching team that hasn’t appointed a new manager, it just doesn’t make sense. The most logical thing i could think of considering he’s chucked Kelty is that he’ll be combining young qp, alongside a full time playing role if required.

A bit harsh on Bruce, Reid & Bannon….our own, with good futures if nurtured properly, they have been left exposed recently by the dross around them

Bannon definitely has a solid future but I need to see a lot more from Bruce. Far from convinced he’s even close to this level at the moment. In his limited minutes, he’s been very poor defensively. The penalty he gave away last week was dreadful

He’s so young that he shouldn’t be flung into this scenario at this level of football so soon but he’s probably one that needs a couple years in league 1 (which is exactly the same issue as 75% of our squad unfortunately)

Yup, I think the next few weeks will likely indicate the plan, if there is one.  A new manager and squad strengthening in January would be a welcome sign that there's likely some attempt to stay in the league whilst a continuation of the last few months will obviously mean we're heading back to L1 with the full backing of Dumpster and Haughey.  If that's the case I can't see Dom Thomas hanging around, especially if we can get some coin for him.  Worthwhile holding onto Ferrie, McKenna, Turner, Thomson, Spong and potentially Paton, but the rest I'm guessing we could easily move on.

I can’t see Thomas leaving even if we end up in league 1. He’s at a stage in his career where he’s not going to get a gig in the premiership due to inconsistency and he’s most likely earning a pretty decent wage that most championship teams can’t/won’t be willing to pay, especially when he’s contracted for next season. He’s held to higher standards by some given his talent but I still think he’s one of the very few who works his backside off and always goes over to the fans after every game (turner also very good for going over to the fans)

I’d look to build the side around him but he’s been placed all over the pitch this season which has resulted in not seeing the best of him as we seen last year

Unfortunately, I think you might be right.

A shame. Has attributes that might become decent as he matures but he’s a total bombscare currently. No presence given his height and distribution all over the place. Just can’t afford to have a defender like that in our current situation. Maybe a loan for 6 months might be beneficial to see how he pans out but I’m struggling to see him ever back in the team after today and Airdrie performance

  14. Never seen a team so lacking in character. Regardless if we missed a penalty (a dreadful penalty to put it lightly), the character shown was nothing short of abysmal. Thomas has a bad 15 mins and is hooked yet Longridge who did nothing other than foul and lose the ball gets the full 90 ? Baffling. I know Thomas is inconsistent but jeezo he’s got more chance of creating something than him

Never felt so low towards the club. We’ve seen much much worse teams in league 2 but I still felt more optimistic towards Queen’s Park as a whole than our current situation. I can see entirely why clubs in this league would want to see us relegated. We’re an arrogant and naive club that’s played down teams capabilities in this league and now we’re more likely than not going to pay the final price for it come May.

The player confrontation really sunk to new lows at the end. A totally toxic environment that I struggle to envisage changing anytime soon

Good luck to whoever the new manager is. He’s got a hell of a job

I guess you're right... excellent work by saying games instead of game - it adds that layer of intrigue that we've got to know and love.

I’m assuming they’re saying games as precaution more than anything in case a new manager isn’t appointed within the next couple games

A pretty disgraceful statement all in all. I’d of rather of had silence than read that nonsense article. It’s mental how much that’s angered me reading it
