He got a knee injury on the artificial pitch at Falkirk in April 2021 that kept him out for more than eight months, so it hasn't just been his hamstrings.

That injury gubbed his time at QP. He was the one player in that league 2 title winning team that looked so far ahead of all his competitors. We were a rigid team under Mackinnon but Quitongo was such a spark out wide

Can’t wrap my head around that once he was back from that injury, Beuker bizarrely never favoured him and played imposters like Longstaff and Mcbride over him

Pretty sure in Quitongo’s interview when he joined Morton, he said he was supposed to of got loaned out to them in the January which I found wild considering how poor we were in league 1

Sadly yes mate. Looks like he’s out for a while yet. Much-missed, a real keystone in our attack.

Ideal. His end product is useless but he’s so direct that he pulls defenders out of position and opens space for others. Caused many problems against us last season at Cappielow

Just near enough impossible to get a full season out of him with his injury record

Seethe is more likely with a draw that suits no one. The losing side here will already at the point of defeated resignation to their fate.

Our best chance here is to get as close as possible to the style of play of last season, knowing that Queen's Park will play a high line and look to pass it out to the point of dogmatism we have to press them properly. That means getting as close as possible to our strongest team from last season, so none of Broadfoot, Power or Boyd in the starting XI. We have the options to do that now.

Is Quitongo still injured for you guys? Our stupidly high line would get absolutely rinsed by his pace on the counter

  4. Given Mckinstry looks set to sign. What lineup would be most likely to get a result against Morton next week ?

                             Ferrie/McKenna

    Longridge     Bannon     Tizzard    Robson

                         Thomson      Spong

    Hepburn              Mckinstry       Thomas

                                    Paton

Objectively that is not a bad team whatsoever at this level but so much depends on the tactics because we know already that we can get so badly exposed if sussed out. McPherson and Fox quite simply need a spell on the bench and Turner just hasn’t offered anything near enough yet to suggest he’s worth a place in the team. Please please play Thomas on the left and linking up with Robson again

  5. Never expected a result in any scenario yesterday but as much as Veldman is quite rightly taking pelters for this season, i can’t help but be incredibly disappointed with Beuker’s contribution throughout the summer. A guy who comes across supremely confident (maybe too confident given his recruitment this summer) in his ability to recruit a squad that would bring exciting and dominant football. This was the first summer where I think Beuker had a full grip on things in terms of his vision of the club from top to bottom and as a fan, I was excited to see what he could produce

Firstly, I had no doubts or anger that we’d have to take a step back from last season but the contrast to go from 90 minutes away from the premiership to a side that is now more than capable of finishing 10th in such a short space of time is embarrassing considering we’re not short of a penny. Cannot believe he didn’t sign anyone across the September loan window, genuinely astounding borderline negligent given the severe shortage of depth beyond a first eleven that looks bereft of confidence.

We can go on about tactics for as long as we want to but what’s became abundantly clear already in October is that the club are most likely paying very generous wages on a multi year contract to a glorified Laurie Ellis 2.0. Worryingly, in recent interviews when talking about the opposition or even our own team, Veldman is always referring to experience and the importance of it. It’s almost as if he’s now realising that playing a high quantity of kids with zero first team experience was a bad idea…

There was no diving, feigning injury, time wasting, wrestling, kicking

As bad as it sounds, we miss that type of player in our team massively. Nobody to calm the game down when we’re up against it, nobody there to buy a few fouls to disrupt the flow or kill United’s momentum. We may be easy on the eye on certain occasions but we’re so soft, it simply won’t work at this level of football

  7. Anyone that thinks dropping McKenna was in any way going to change our fortunes is talking madness. No keeper is going to change our fortunes with that defence. Ferrie is a more than capable goalkeeper at championship level but had McKenna did the same today, some would be crying for him to be dropped. Ferrie made approximately zero saves today and that’s no criticism on the guy but he’s so exposed by the defence it’s incredible

Not able to make the Q&A tonight. Would someone be able to share their feedback on it here to get a sense of how it goes?

Nothing particularly standing out from their answers but Dom did mention that Veldman is trying to add 2 or 3 players as he hinted depth is an issue. Hopefully he’s insinuating that there will be players in for Saturday

Not to start a rumour or anything but I’m about 80% sure I seen him in the stand at our game on Saturday with an older gent (possibly an agent?). I wasn’t fully sure it was him at the time though, but thought I recognised him. Even spotted him again in Raith’s match day video. For all I know though, he could just be a random boy going to watch the game with his grandpa 😂 but Albion Rovers weren’t playing on Saturday, so maybe was him!

    IMG_4929.jpeg

He was in the QP crowd on Friday night for the game against Ayr also and from what I remember, seemed to be with the same bloke in that pic. Presumed at the time it might have been potentially linked with him maybe coming to us but given he was at your game also, I’m assuming that might not be the case

Would love QP to take a punt on him in January however

  10. In any scenario, this type of fixture was always seen as a free hit in my eyes. However, given the nature of our defeats recently, there’s pressure on Veldman to swallow his pride and set us up in a way that try and stifles United going forward. Chances of that are almost zero. I expect a hammering if I’m being realistic

Given that a couple signings admittedly won’t change our entire fortunes, they simply have to try and get a couple guys in this week on loan to at least beef up the bench to help over the coming months. Fail to do so and it’s been a complete flop in terms of recruitment. The lack of depth is embarrassing. One injury to either Thomas or Paton and we are absolutely screwed

That Bevan is a wee baller IMO, unsure why we’d pick up Charlie Reilly yet snub him.

Funnily enough I was saying to the guys I sit with at the QP matches that Bevan was sitting in the QP crowd at our match on Friday night. Given our desperate need for a sub striker and our commitment to signing young guys, I hope there’s an element that we’re trying get him for January

Given his record last season, I’m shocked nobody took a punt on him this summer

Don't get me wrong. I think McKenna has a huge future in front of him but at 16 he does not yet have the bigger game experience which in time he will get. I thought his balance was off at two more of the goals. The first was goalkeeper every time.

That’s fair enough. I think that was clearly Mckenna’s worst game but he’s been outstanding so far this season so he’s probably still one of the last I’d drop. Much more glaring areas in the team that have massive question marks

Jack Turner-Thought he might of kicked on after the Bala game but in all honesty, he looks a bit of a dud overall unfortunately

Ben McPherson- Seems to be highly thought of at Celtic and looks competent going forward but can’t defend for his life. 3 goals he’s been majorly at fault for already in the short time he’s been here. Did Beuker genuinely release Davidson to have a loanee who defends worse than him?

The way we defend is chronic and makes wonder aswell why Lee Kilday was released. Our best performing centre back last season and we’ve replaced it by having Jack Thomson at the back. Madness

  13. 27 minutes ago, williebraveheart said:

I do not believe Ferrie would have shipped five goals last night.

You could argue the first goal could have been dealt better but I put that down as a collective shambles more than anything. The rest I genuinely don’t see Ferrie saving. You could have Neuer in goals and he’d still concede goals with the way veldman sets up that defence

  14. 11 minutes ago, pmonigatti said:

I don’t thing McKenna was at fault for any of the goals, not sure why he’s getting stick.

My thoughts exactly. Seen it on Twitter aswell people suggesting Ferrie should be reinstated. I think it’s just a case of 16 year old = take him out the firing line. I’m largely against the idea of untried youth players taking up a fair size of the squad but McKenna deservedly starts until he starts making howlers or concedes goals he shouldn’t be on a regular basis. No clue what Ferrie would have done differently tonight. He’s equally susceptible at aerial balls and his distribution is considerably weaker which for our style of play will put us in even more bother

  15. Echo the comments above. Much better sides have been relegated from this league (Dunfermline a couple years back being a prime example) They were a squad nobody predicted for relegation until a manager comes in, destroying the morale on and off the pitch

Dundee United match aside, Morton and Airdrie are huge matches which will define the direction this season is going. Lose them all and Veldman can’t continue quite frankly

  16. Also are the metal detectors really necessary at all by security? Fully grown adults getting questioned what’s in their pockets like they’re wee guys

Even wee small things like closing one of the exits for the home fans if they needed the toilet or food mid game just seemed totally unnecessary. Everyone having to walk all the way round to the one exit. It’s these things the club need to get better at to improve the fan experience and keep people coming back

QP are dreadful. Some of their fans were giving it “beaten by mediocre sides” last weekend, but they need to wake up and realise that they are utter dross.

Let’s be honest, there’s literally no QP fan that’s on here saying we’ve been anything less than dross, we woke up a while ago🤣 Veldman has took a hounding on here and other social media platforms and rightly so, alongside Beuker for the recruitment or lack of recruitment so to say. Not seen a qp fan base turn on a manger so quickly but I’m not surprised given the performances

Must be a minority regarding the mediocre teams comment because we’ve fully deserved to have lost each of the last 4 games
