  1. From Cardiff City's website - "A modest and humble character who shows a quiet confidence whenever he plays. Brad is a very solid, consistent and dependable full back or central defender who has excelled on and off-field as part of the Academy set-up. Aberdare-born Brad has also represented Wales up to the Under-19 age group." ETA - could be a replacement Finnie in the U20s rather than O'Donnell.
  2. It's similar to old FC Lens and Jagiellonia strips. The black panels spoil the top.
  3. I'm thinking about diagonal stripes. Something a bit different might flog a few more.
  4. If they are looking for accommodation for trialists over the next few weeks, would Glasgow University's flats at Firhill or in Caithness Street be an option?
  5. Yes. It does look like that. Hopefully, you're right as I prefer hoops. The new sponsor's logo on a broad red hoop would look good too.
  6. John Baird was signed "without faffing about" and his 2 year contracted was terminated after a few months. Forbes was also paid off after signing a new deal. A TAG recent article said that, since last autumn, the club has established a scouting network to support the management team. Kevin Dillon has a leading role. The scouts should have to identified possible replacements, including loans, for the players that have left. There are plenty of free agents looking for clubs and so there should be some decent trialists at Bisham Abbey. The big problem could be playing budget and the wages that the club can offer to targets. If season tickets sales are down significantly, there will be cash-flow problems. They could delay signings and targets could go to other clubs.
  7. Gallacher and Welsh, if fit, could challenge for a starting place. Scully, Wilson, McDaid and Lindsay and Hendry would be on the bench. I think that Jack Hendry, now 20 and signed up for next season, can play at right-back. That would free up Elliott to play alongside Lawless and Stevenson. Matthew McInally also played at right-back for the U20s, at the expense of Finnie, this year. I'm not sure whether he's under contract. There are several other promising young players who were out of contract in May. Hopefully, the club will give us an update soon.
  8. SOD may have made a clever move as Luton is an ambitious club with plans for a new stadium. Their home gates were 8-9k last season so they can pay more than most SPL clubs. They have strengthened by signing Potts from West Ham and McGeechan from Norwich (a six figure fee!). Potts played a few games for West Ham's first-team. Poor home form this year cost Luton a play-off place. Having strengthened, so they should challenge for promotion this season.
  9. I agree but think that McDaid is also under contract until 2017. ETA - any news on Balatoni?
  10. A lot of players will be on holiday. Their agents will be hawking them around and looking for the best deal. There's plenty of time to replace those that have left recently. There will probably be a few trialists at Bisham Abbey (great choice) and playing for deals in the pre-season games.
  11. I'll wait until the design is finalised. Ideally, it should be released this week. There are plenty of t-shirt companies who could deliver a big order quickly. Hoping for more Kingsley merchandise soon.
  12. I hope that Maxi placed the order yesterday. It is a massive merchandising opportunity. The national and global media coverage should attract more sponsors and advertisers for the coming season. Kingsford Capital must be delighted with such a massive and immediate return on its investment. The story was all over the American media - Fox, CNN, New York Times, Huffington Post etc. The challenge for the club is how to turn this PR coup into better attendances.
  13. STV website "It's a version of the logo that existed for the company before but it was a very generic, boring logo," Shrigley said. "Mike wanted it to be more comic, animated, interesting and angsty, which is sort of the emotions you feel being a Partick Thistle supporter. "Mascots are odd things aren't they. He's the sun which is quite positive, we don't see the sun much in this part of Scotland so he's quite an angsty sun, with a bit of attitude. Hopefully he'll give the players a bit of attitude for the forthcoming season. "I came up with quite a few and this was the one the company were happy with, I'm not really quite sure why but I think it's a funny logo. It's interesting and hopefully it'll entertain people."
  14. Great idea! I met this lot on the escalator at Euston station a couple of years ago.
  15. Reading are not pleased - "Reading FC mascot Kingsley Royal's name smeared by copycat". "A Scottish football club have marred the name of Royals' mascot by calling their own hideous mascot Kingsley. Kingsley Royal has been part of the furniture at Reading FC since 1997, but many football fans will now associate his christian name with Partick Thistle's terrifying new figurehead."
  16. Newsbeat headline - Partick Thistle's Kingsley 'will bring shame on the good name of mascots'
  17. There does seem to be an anti-Thistle (pro OF?) faction in the BBC. There was even a false story about Archie blazing a penalty [eta - in his last playing season] over the bar. Then there is the tiny coverage that the club gets on Sportscene...
