  1. Thanks for the update. Did he say anything about Duggan signing a new deal? Chris was out of contract at the end of last season. He's 21 now and can only play for the u20s as an over-age player.
  2. Everyone blames the BBC for those howlers but Sky had them too. The culprit was the Press Association which provides reporting services and live updates to the broadcasters.
  3. Like everyone else, I'm expecting Miller to sign soon unless his wage demands are a problem. It seems that a new striker is the priority, especially as Duggan appears to have left. If funds are very limited, Elliott can cover again at full-back. Matthew McInally and James Penrice are very young full-backs but highly regarded. McInally can play on the wing too and scored a hat-trick against the Accies u20s. Perhaps they will get a chance sooner rather than later.
  4. There's a lot of climbing left so it's too early to say that Froome will win. Movistar look very strong too. The race could be decided on the penultimate stage on Alpe D'Huez.
  5. Great result for Sky. Would have won it if the fifth rider had not cracked on the last climb.
  6. Anyone else watching the TTT? I'm switching between it and Wimbledon.
  7. What length of ban will Paolini get for a coke positive? Two years would probably end his career as a WT rider.
  8. The hearing should have taken place by now. There is no mention of McMillan on UKAD's list of bans.
  9. Rain is forecast for Sunday. England need to bowl most of the Aussies out tomorrow.
  10. He had no alternative after losing Renshaw yet again. QS should tell Boonen to ride for Cav but the chances of that happening are very slim.
  11. ^ Without Martin, Cavendish's lead-out train is screwed. He might be better off just following Greipel's wheel anyway. Kristoff has a similar opportunistic strategy.
  12. Was the trialist striker your pal Zoko? Thought you would have recognised him.
  13. Edit - Tony Martin has confirmed that he's broken his collarbone and sais "we will discuss further steps". He could start tomorrow to honour the yellow jersey and then abandon. I can't understand why Sagan just watched Stybar ride away without challenging him.
  14. This. Greipel has found his best form this year. He's been impressive in the intermediate sprints too. Sagan has been doing domestique work for Contador too. Otherwise he could have won yesterday. I'm very disappointed with Cavendish in the stages so far. His partnership with Mark Renshaw as his last lead-out man has lost its usual reliability. With his QS contract ending this year, Cav has to win at least two stages. Kittel (if fully fit and selected) would have challenged Greipel, Cav and Sagan on the very flat stages.
  15. I found another great old picture of the Bridge. It even had a Bovril sign above the turnstiles.
  16. Chelsea's stadium will cost a fortune to build. It's a clever design that makes the most of the land available. This picture gives an idea of how big the old ground was.
  17. Astana should have been kicked off the World Tour but other teams are just as bad. How about Tinkoff-Saxo, formerly owned and run by Bjarne Riis? The Danish Anti-Doping Agency made more serious allegations recently. Steven De Jongh, key member of Sky's managerial team, confessed to doping in 2012. After leaving Sky, he joined Tinkoff-Saxo. Btw, do you think that Sky, who employed Dr Geert Lenders (life ban for doping riders) in 2012, is a clean team?
  18. Brian Cookson, the new UCI chief, is trying to clean up cycling but he's got a tough job. The UCI was run by Hein Verbruggen and Pat McQuaid during the PhArmstrong era. Doping has been rife for decades but it got a lot worse when they ran the sport. The big problem is that a lot of teams are run by ex dopers or employ ex dopers as Sporting Directors or coaches. There are lot of other sports which need to deal with doping, especially tennis which has very little out-of-competition testing.
  19. David Amoo played with Nathan Eccleston in Liverpool's development squad and reserves.
  20. I like the yellow Kingsley cartoon in the Kids Go Free banners. Would make a great badge for the kids!
  21. Presumably more money. There are plenty of attractive towns within easy commuting distance of Bradford.
