  1. In terms of Lasley Robinson he would be sitting down to discuss a couple things with Keith which sounded to me like he'd rather do more off field things than playing at least that's how I took it. There's no way he will be first choice as a player next season with the signings brought in so far.
  2. Mackin & Fry were mostly under 20s players so will likely be replaced there rather than for the 1st team squad. I view Tanner as the replacement for Ainsworth actually, can play both wings or off the striker similar to what Lionel did during his time here.
  3. The chat I heard about Faddy was apparently Robinson told the board he offered absolutely nothing as assistant apart from moaning at 4th officials and would be looking to make a change this summer. I reckon Lasley will probably replace him but I'd prefer we get an outsider with fresh ideas rather than promoting from within all the time as I feel that's played a part in holding us back.
  4. Daily Record has us in for a guy called Craig Tanner who is a winger that has spent the season on loan at Plymouth from Reading of all places. I wonder if the fact he's a winger would suggest that Ainsworth is away.
  5. Yeah Crags has signed a player from Queens Park to be part of his under 20 squad for next season, he told he'd be making 4 or 5 signings this summer to compensate for players he will be losing to the first team on a regular basis now.
  6. I'd also imagine we still here some sort of announcement of a few other players like McFadden, Ferguson and Ainsworth and no doubt Moore will be let go as well.
  7. A few people I know would like us to try and offload Clay as well as they feel he is well out his depth up here.
  8. He's right tho, there is definitely the wrong mentality at the club hence how rotten we've been the last couple of years. It's about time we take a hardline approach with some of the imposters in the squad.
  9. Roboo sticking the boot into the players and i'd say he has a point here!! Motherwell manager Stephen Robinson – who wouldn’t confirm his no. 2 James McFadden will stay at Fir Park – said: “I thought our players celebrating when we were 3-2 down was embarrassing. “That mentality can’t stay at this club, it doesn’t matter whether it’s the last game of the season or not. “Perhaps that’s why we were where we were all season – maybe it was too easy to lose games “I met with the board on Friday to discuss my budget for next year. We have 13 contracted players and I’ll be trying to wheel and deal.”
  10. Looking forward to seeing the clear out begin, I've heard Robinson wants to reduce the average of the squad, I honestly we've now the last of Samson, Pearson, McFadden, Lucas, Chalmers (already gone), Lasley (retiring i reckon) Ainsworth and Ferguson. If we can bring in players of a decent calibre to to replace those on their way out and then i reckon we would have a decent season next year.
  11. Chris Humphrey was also at the game last night, so obviously people will start rumours that he may sign as well.
  12. I agree with you especially on the Clay point I think we will sign another centre half this summer which will allow McHugh permanently to play in midfield which I reckon will be him and Campbell as our pairing going into next season and with Shea Gordon also on the fringes of the squad now I think we will see Clay either have his contract run down to be released or we may actually be actually able to flog him to a club willing to give him more games, but I don't see him playing a high number of games unless we have more bad luck with injuries etc.
  13. I agree, I think we will see a difference in recruitment from Robinson in terms of the sort of player he looks for compared to McGhee. I also look back at Oldham the first signing he made was getting in a decent keeper in Connor Ripley, so It wouldn't surprise me if that's one of the first thing he addresses. If you have a fairly solid keeper then its a good basis to build upon, I would definitely sign another centre back with some experience that can either come in for competition to Heneghan or McManus and being able to adequately replace them if they have injury or suspension.
  14. McManus wont be back till next season at the earliest I've been told, it's case of taking time to get him right and get him back fit for pre season which at his age makes sense for me. Hammell's legs have gone but given Chalmers is out of contract I think its safe to say he will go and we will sign a new left back either to go straight in ahead of Hammell or learn from Hammell during pre season then replace him. We have a decent base to work on from next season as we have, Tait, Heneghan, McManus, Hammell, Cadden, Clay, McHugh, Campbell, Frear, Moult, Bowman, Blyth (if not binned), MacLean, Thomas, Watt, Hastie, Gordon and Turnbull all under contract. I suspect we may give Ferguson another year to cover defence as well.
  15. Yeah that's certainly true, I just wonder if physically he's ready yet as I think he would maybe still get knocked off the ball too easily in senior football, I was thinking he might be one we loan out at the start of next season to toughen him up.
  16. Hastie is a natural out and out left winger and not really a striker and been playing more a second striker through necessity due to injuries within the 20s set up. But aye if we had to then he could be used as well.
  17. As I've said on steelmen online if he is out for the season and we need cover on the bench then surely we can just recall Mackin and put him there. Blyth isn't a loss as he's slower than a week in jail and jumps about 10 minutes late for his headers as well.
  18. https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/3208545/marvin-johnson-manchester-city-leicester-oxford/?CMP=Spklr-_-Editorial-_-TheSunFootball-_-Football-_-FBLink-_-Statement-_-FBPAGE Rather bizarre rumour in the Sun tonight that Leicester and Man City have been among 30 scouts watching Marvin Johnson!
  19. I'm sure we will have a scout who will go and watch games up here and recommend players, its then up to Robinson to decide whether he fancies them or go for ones from down south which has been a slightly more successful route for us although there's been a few dodgy ones in there as well.
  20. I've suspected Kennedy has been away for a while, he was left out of a squad photo about 2 months back and took a trip down south which we were told was for an injury but I reckon it was signing talks for AFC Fylde, no doubt another McGhee decision along with decision to let Laing go despite our shambolic defense this season.
  21. If it is Robinson why wait all this time and go through an interview process with other candidates, surely if that's who they wanted he could've been appointed last week and we just got on with things, seems bizarre to me.
  22. How has Dylan Mackin been doing for you guys since he joined on loan from us?
  23. Never wanted Duffy to start with I must admit. I'm also not thrilled at the prospect of Alan Stubbs either, failed to get hibs out the championship twice only mirrored by the fact he won the Scottish cup and jumped ship to cover the disappointment of missing out on promotion a 3rd time.
  24. I've heard strong rumours tonight that Owen Coyle may be the new manager. Personally id be surprised if he was willing to take it unless he feels he needs to get back up to work his ticket back down south.
  25. Robinson certainly was a huge part of our 5th place finish last year, will take the burden off McGhee in that he can take a lot more of the training than compared to Faddy who mostly joins in training with the players, he's tactically astute and can give opinions to McGhee on the right way forward. Also feel the players will look fitter with his style of training as we appear to run out of steam at the 70 minute mark.
