  1. I think your on to something there MJC in regard when McGhee goes then McFadden may then get the chance to step up. As his contract is only till the end of the season it does no harm seeing how this partnership works out and if we do well then we can continue it if not then we can make a change and look outside the club. I am quite pleased that we will finally have a member of the coaching staff now available during international breaks and that will be interesting for Faddy handling training on his own with maybe slight assistance by the goalie coach.
  2. Yeah we should win comfortably but Motherwell usually like doing it the hard way. McDonald likely to be leading the front line tomorrow as Moult is going for the surgery tomorrow and I think Blyth has wee knock he has been struggling with but could play if we really needed him tomorrow night.
  3. Yeah I believe a couple of the 20s will go out on loan, I heard talk of Ross MacLean maybe joining Albion Rovers on loan, worked well for Cadden so might be good for the boys to get out and some competitive games while also playing for our under 20s.
  4. Well we do have Dylan Mackin in reserve for up top but I'm unsure whether he is ready for the first team yet but McGhee obviously has something in the pipeline if he is letting Moore go back out on loan for the season.
  5. Craig Moore has left the club to rejoin Ayr Utd on loan for the season, that tells me something must be afoot regarding a new signing or he hasn't impressed McGhee enough to play regularly at Motherwell!!
  6. Yeah but look at Kranjcar who came on yesterday, he was still a class above any of our guys in the short time he was on, as will Joey Barton when he gets started in the Rangers side, some might be past their best but they are still at a higher level than the majority of our squad sadly. Rangers are nothing like the side we beat in the play offs although they are still suspect defensively which we should've exploited by taking our chances but we didn't and that's football unfortunately.
  7. Not often we will create that many chances against the old firm sides and not score, could have been a couple up at half time as well. Was impressed by our new lads yesterday particularly Tait and Heneghan who look to be solid additions to the backline, certainly think they will be important this season. Thought McHugh kept it simple in midfield and tired out the game a bit towards the end but I think the more he plays the more he will prove to be a good addition to the squad as well.
  8. I really like it actually, definitely one I will be purchasing. I always think when you see the kits in the flesh in the club shop you get a true reflection of how they look as sometimes the photos don't do them justice.
  9. I see McGhee says in his interview that there will be no new arrivals to the club unless someone else leaves. Says we've used our limit in the budget now.
  10. Personally I think McManus and Hammell played like they didn't have a care in the world yesterday and I remember at the albion rovers game last weekend that McManus made a mistake that led to their goal he started laughing about it. That to me shows how seriously they are taking pre season. I just hope they look like we resemble a team against Rangers on Saturday.
  11. I think McGhee had said Moult hadn't trained as much as the rest during the week, so not sure if he is battling a slight injury hence why he came off at half time yesterday. It is pretty much our strongest side without Moult today so will be good to see how we fare.
  12. I believe the guy that played the through ball for Moore was one of the trialists, we had 2 for the under 20s that came on and I think it was one of them that played the ball through. Great weighted pass right enough, Moore got the full 45 mins in place of Moult who will also feature tomorrow but he certainly put himself about and was even winning balls in the air against guys a fair bit bigger than him.
  13. Yeah for a friendly game it was played at a decent tempo throughout, Dumbarton are not a bad wee side as well. Thought their goal was quite poor defending but well finished nonetheless, we created chances first half but with no clinical finishing, I thought we upped the tempo a bit more second half and in the end probably deserved the win, was pleased to see Moore have a hand in both goals.
  14. Just found out the replica strips will be sold without the sponsors on them, only the first team kits will have the sponsors.
  15. Yeah that's what I was thinking as well, probably English Championship, possibly League 1 at a push for him.
  16. Apparently Connor Ripley is being loaned out again this season by Middlesbrough!
  17. Yeah I saw that, I think in a way it's probably for the best he goes as he wouldn't have been a first pick this season. I wonder if he will end up with McCall at Bradford.
  18. It was a dreadful attempt to control the pass from Kennedy, usually McManus likes his big punt up the park from that area as well. This weekend games will be a step up from the ones we have played this week so will really need to step it up a gear in the build up for Rangers a week on Saturday.
  19. I see BBC are reporting that Stephen Robinson is set to be appointed as new Oldham manager and could be assisted there by none other than Ian Baraclough.
  20. I think it probably means the likes of Law and Ainsworth are away. Ainsworth certainly did nothing in the arbroath game on sunday either.
  21. Quite pleased with this signing and its also one over on Derek Adams which is always good. He just signed David Goodwillie who has done virtually nothing for a few years now so good luck to Adams enjoying english football mediocrity. The Plymouth fans meltdown is hilarious!
  22. If anyone is thinking of going to the friendly at Dumbarton on saturday, the kick off has been put back to 12.30pm due to a parade being held in the town later in the afternoon resulting in roads near the stadium being closed.
  23. I've heard Law wants to leave, was told to find a new club and couldn't find one so went back to McGhee and said he would stay but as we have signed Tait, i believe Law was told he is no longer required. I'm not sure how true is but that's what I heard yesterday. Laing has a tight hamstring from training so rested this weekend as a precaution and Law is also injured and hasn't trained at all yet. McDonald is missing as he only trained friday so is nearly a week behind on fitness so no real surprise he isnt included today.
  24. We strolled it in the end couldve been 5 or 6 if im honest, McManus really fucked up big time at their goal but after that we got a grip and got goals from Moult and Johnson before half time and more or less controlled the second half without ever being troubled. Some of the younger players who came on looked decent so that was a positive for me.
