  1. A few shouts re. changes for Killie that I'm fully on board with. I'd 100% not be risking Butcher on that surface and would be more than happy to see Blaney given a shot at the back in front of Mugabi. If Kettlewell isn't keen on starting Gent and we're going to persist with playing a wingback out of position, I'd at least swap Spencer onto his preferred right hand side and put O'Donnell left where he's done ok in the past. In the middle I'd agree with @Busta Nut and give Davor a start. Miller is going to need to be managed well in his breakthrough season and missing out when we're on a bad run and confidence is low is the right time to rest him. Up front, if we're going to stick with one up top I'd much rather have Mika on from the start for a solid hour to give us a fighting chance of getting our noses in front, rather than throwing him on as a hail Mary when games are all but gone.
  2. My head neatly exploded at that one. Ball looked within easy reach if he just stayed on his feet, instead he had a needless mad lunge/slide and carried it out for a goal kick. Put the tin lid on an utterly honking performance from him. Huddy.
  3. We have no depth to the squad whatsoever. If the first 11 aren't fit and on it we're fucked, as that shitshow tonight just proved. Slattery was miles off it and Wilkinson managed to be less effective than Bair. Being 6'3" and barely winning a header all night is criminal. The early season optimism is gone. It's gonna be another eye-bleeding slog lads.
  4. Not having seen a great deal of the Dons so far this season, all I really know is that they seemed to bring in a fair few bodies in the summer to a relative fanfare and much optimism (on here at least) among their fans for the business done. Unsure whether Robson is still to find his best formation/permutation of the squad, they just haven't clicked yet, or they've simply spunked their money on some utter jobbers. Either way, he's obviously struggled to get a consistent tune out of them so far. As for us, some of our performances in the recent past have been lauded despite failing to pick up many points, mainly due to being largely solid and creative but just lacking a cutting edge. However, the last couple of outings have seen our (until now) reliable defence start to leak some very sloppy goals which is a bit of a concern. I see this being a very scrappy affair with both sides just desperate to take the points any which way they can. Hopefully Butcher is fit to help shore up at the back, and Biereth is allowed sufficient time on the field to contribute up front. Would be delighted with a win by any means to get us back on track, but can see a share of the spoils being the outcome.
  5. I have an acquaintance who is very much in the mould of Person 1 here. "I've got guests coming, does anyone have a blow up bed I can borrow?" "I'm going to Benidorm, have you got any European plug adapters?" If you can afford a couple of grand for a holiday you can afford a few quid to buy your own adapters, you tight git. (Or do the sensible thing and take a 3 or 4 gang extension cable with you and you'll only need the one adapter). These are the type of cnuts who love to borrow stuff but more often than not need a reminder to fucking return it.
  6. Glad to hear you've come through your rough period and hope things continue to improve for you. People can be cnuts, and sometimes those who are/were close to us can turn out to actually be the worst, whether through jealousy, spite or whatever. We can only keep being the best we can be, and their cuntery will always be outed in the end, so f**k 'em. Keep on keeping on with your head held high.
  7. I'd say that would be the obvious move. He's been broadly fine while he's been playing, but is always just a rush of blood to the head away from costing us a goal.
  8. Only saw the video of the friendly match incident tbh, and there seem to be plenty of folk within football circles willing to attest that he's highly unlikeable. If there's any truth in domestic issues and he's lifted his hands to a woman, then the whole world should be shunning the cowardly b*****d, not just the footballing one.
  9. Purely down to how she was announced to the audience by Paul Daniels when she was his 'glamorous assistant' back in the day. Tbf, he was an odd looking wee fella so she probably was lovely and glamorous to him. The old question put to her by Mrs Merton (Caroline Aherne) of "And what first attracted you to the millionaire, Paul Daniels " was a great quip.
  10. The one that's really been boiling my piss for a while now with fresh produce and that is impossible to tell before buying, is potatoes with black spots. We go through a lot of spuds, and seem to spend a lot of time hacking bits off that are gubbed, or discarding altogether. Never seemed to be anywhere near as bad until the last year or so, and doesn't matter which supermarket or type of tattie. What's changed there? Just bad handling, storage etc., or a cheapening of farming methods? Either way it's a pain in the hole.
  11. That horrible big p***k should have been permanently banned from the game after that cowardly hook at an opponent in a friendly not so long ago.
  12. If he goes South I imagine it would be to the Championship which is just as much kick and rush as our game up here. Sure his game time at Celtic had been limited for some time, but he's still without doubt one of the most naturally gifted Scottish players of his generation. If his personal factors permit, I'd love to see a suitable offer come his way and for him to take the plunge and go to the continent. He's tailor made for it.
  13. Agree that Turnbull is often unfairly seen as lacking fitness, that's simply not true and just his style of play not being suited to the way Postecoglu wanted his team to play. Under him, Celtic's midfield was very robust, dynamic and direct, playing from middle to front very quickly and getting the likes of Jota down the lines and in behind the full backs at pace. Turnbull's game is far more measured, getting his foot on the ball and pinging passes, looking for that killer through ball that no-one else has seen. He simply wasn't suited to that set up. Maybe with Rodgers starting to mould the team into his own way of playing will see DT given another crack, but I get the feeling that a lot of Celtic fans have already made their minds up on him, and a fresh start elsewhere would be far more beneficial for him at this stage of his career. I'd say that at Parkhead his tea is just about oot.
  14. For old school boozers near the centre of Glasgow The Laurieston is a great shout. If I'm in town shopping with the wife, I generally quickly slope off to the nearest pub of this type for a couple of pints then meet her when she's finished. Renfield Bar, The Pot Still, Alpen Lodge and The Rhoderick Dhu are a few others I like to nip in to for a couple too.
  15. Aye, I really should pull over for a bite to eat and a nap.
  16. Re: the driving posts. It's a thing that people either enjoy, or do out of necessity. I had my first lesson on the day of my 17th birthday and passed my test while still at school. Been driving now for over 30 years and making a living from driving various types of vehicles for the past 20. It's something I actually enjoy whereas my wife, although she is a good enough driver, hates it and sees it purely as a function she needs to do. The increase in the number of drivers and the sheer volume of vehicles on the road over time has obviously seen the number of complete morons rise too, and I can see how folk who are newly qualified, or getting back behind the wheel after a period away might be wary or apprehensive on the roads as they are today. I'd suggest getting out and about in area you will be driving most in the evenings when it's much quieter, to get used to handling the car and maybe having a go at tackling any junctions or interchanges you have concerns over, which will help build your confidence for when you need to navigate them at busier times.
  17. An EGM down the Referee's Association/Lodge tomorrow should be enough to appoint the correct set of officials to ensure Phil and the gang get off on the right foot. A couple of quid on Tavernier adding to his penalty tally might not be the worst shout. Narrow home win, I'm afraid.
  18. A lot of bar setting has always been done by people comparing themselves to others and aiming for what are perceived to be societal norms and indicators of success. To that end, the modern cancer that is social media has warped these expectations to such an extent that I'd happily see Facebook, Instagram and the rest obliterated from existence. There's so much damage done to folk from body dysmorphia and mental wellbeing, to people getting themselves into all sorts of financial distress, all because they feel they need to try and keep up with the others in this completely false and fabricated online world. I've never had Instagram, ditched Facebook months ago and never interact on Twitter. My account there is purely for following a handful of (mainly) football and funny pages for a laugh here and there. I'd recommend a similar approach to social media consumption to anyone. Don't waste your time scrolling through endless posts of folk bragging and exaggerating every single thing they do just to try and look successful. It's 99% made up, vacuous shite. Everyone is different and as a result, so are the paths their lives take. What we have materially is f**k all, it's what we have in terms of contentment that matters. What I'd say to you, DA, is put down that big stick you keep beating yourself with and think firstly of you. You're quite evidently a decent cnut by your posts and musings on here. You have a lot to offer. Cut out all the unnecessary bullshit and noise from elsewhere and just think about what would actually make you happy, not what you think would make you appear successful in the eyes of others. Things will fall into place if you just take the pressure off yourself.
  19. Can see it being an inconvenience for the auld yin there as he probably needs to sign in at the local nick every morning. Must be on some form of register cutting about like that, ffs.
  20. Aye, just another example of something that was seen as acceptable in the early nineties but is utterly abhorrent to many nowadays. Just fast forward the bits with the p***k in it.
  21. Been together 28 years, joint account the whole time and never had any issues. I'm a man of simple means and as long as all debts are serviced and I am suitably furnished with alcohol as and when I fancy, then money doesn't bother me much over and above that. DD's set up at start of the month for all bills and also money transferred into savings account. After that, once shopping, fuel etc is accounted for the rest is disposable. None of us rip the pish, and just take out what we need for nights out or whatever. If either of us is considering something that would be a biggish outlay then we'd speak to the other first. She's free to buy her candles and beauty products, and if I decide on a whim I'd like a nice new Lonsdale t-shirt from Mike Ashley's fashionable superstore, then I'll damn well just have it.
  22. Sorry. Ach, maybe they'll all finally want to come together like big boys and discuss a way of removing the slightest provocative religious/bigoted/political etc stuff which has no place in football once and for all. Then again... Apologies to Saints fans, no intention to derail your match thread.
  23. Too many of their fans hide behind the "It's only a minority and we want it binned as much as you " shtick. The volume of the singing and chants tells you that it is, in fact, the majority joining in rather than the minority, especially when they're away from home. The favourite get outs are along the lines of "What do you expect me to do? Risk my own safety to say something?". Utter bullshit if the majority are decent fans who truly want to see an end to it. If it is a minority (it's not) then why, when they strike up the refrains of their usual bile, can't the decent ones join in with the booing and derision of the opposition support to drown them out? Surely if the good guys in their support vastly outnumber the braindead offenders there should be no safety fears and they could play their part in finally ridding us of what is a national embarrassment? The answer is simple. Without the sectarianism they are nothing. Like Celtic, bigotry and religion is at the heart of their very foundations and the clubs are in no way serious about changing that. Sad but unfortunately true, and will always be so.
