  1. The lack of players is a concern at the moment. I understand as it stands we don't even have enough to field a full team next week. I believe this is the sole reason we are where we are this year. BBPF hit the nail on the head a few pages back when he said players need competition. We havnt had that all season, everyone has been basically guaranteed their spot. Aitken signed a load of players who were injury prone or indeed injured. I know we maybe don't have the facilities to complete medicals on players but surely if someone is currently injured, why are we signing them? Aitken 100% has to take the blame. Now Jim Duffy is left with the issue of trying to bulk out the squad to make us competitive but most of all trying to get a team on the pitch. The players that have retired were out of his hands, the ones released he obviously didn't fancy and believes he can get better elsewhere. Unfortunately our predicament is well known and although I am fully confident Jim will, by the end of the month, get us a squad of 17 or so to make us more competitive I do worry the signings that will be made will not be as exciting as we hoped and a relegation battle will be as exciting as this season gets.
  2. This^ Can't see how it would continue. Dumbarton already has 2 very good, successful and established amateur sides (not to mention numerous other not as established) The Vale of Leven have a junior team so don't think another junior team would work, also there are stipulations about junior football such as needing a stadium. If we sold the stadium and went under Dumbarton FC would cease to exist, regardless of the efforts of anyone trying to raise us from the dead.
  3. A much improved 6 for Wednesday. Still got a mountain to climb to avoid relegation after my horrific start to the week
  4. Flannery seems a bit bitter and seems to be revelling in our current predicament. He didn't get the job, ok, but did he have better credentials than Duffy? Or indeed anyone else that applied? He's managed what, once, in the juniors/lowland? I understand his passion but surely he can see we needed an experienced head in the door to steady a ship that was/is letting in gallons of water. On the other point about Dowie leaving, would Duffy have someone lined up? I hope so, however, Dowie is looking after himself, his football career is coming to (at) an end and he needs to look after his future. He clearly had this in the pipeline, he may or may not have informed the club of his intentions in advance, if he didn't then Duffy I assume doesn't have anyone lined up. Maybe this new job that he has been preparing for has been affecting his performances on the pitch this season.
  5. I know the situation meant him leaving was inevitable at the time but in hindsight I'd have never let him go. Would've been nice for the club to stand by him and support him until the potential guilty verdict, which now we know never came.
  6. He can't be any worse than some of the dross we currently have/had. Plus it's a body. In ye come armour!
  7. Was Rory Loy not signed on a 2 year deal but funded by our very generous sponsors? I can't imagine them being too pleased if it is indeed them paying his wages to do he haw on the pitch. Or was their involvement just to give guys jobs alongside football?
  8. I totally understand the club is skint and I'm sure every other fan understands and accepts that too. We speak about the drop in prize money, that's part and parcel of being relegated, surely the board took this into consideration when budgets were being planned for this season? We mustve known season ticket sales would be down and away fan revenue would be down? All this surely was taken into consideration when budgets were set this season. If not id be seriously questioning the board! So we are skint, we've felt skint for years, however, are we really any more skint than other clubs in the league? Every lower league club in Scotland will be playing the "skint" card, they all still sign players and move players on.
  9. I'm sure trialists need to be free agents.
  10. My wife is currently in a huff because I disagreed with her. She asked for a 'talk' and now because my perfectly logical opinion didn't match her blinkered one I'm in the doghouse!
  11. I have decided to return, the big question is will Cardi allow me to keep all my titles I won previously or will I be starting from scratch. Anyway, a pathetic 3 to mark my return to duty
  12. A quick look on transfermarkt.com shows that there isn't many free agents kicking about that would maybe be worth it. Bob Harris is a name there tho, he would solve the LB issue surely? Apparently been out of contract since the summer?
  13. Happy New year to all Sons fans when it comes. I'm sure in footballing terms we are all pretty happy to see the back of 2018. Hopefully 2019 is better for us.
  14. Is a kit man that big a deal? He washes the strips and lays them out on a Saturday. Decided to f**k us over in his last game. Piss off with aitken and dry your eyes
  15. It's early i know but unlikely I'll be visiting P&B tomorrow so Merry Christmas to all fellow sons fans (and supporters of other clubs of course) Hope you all have a great day. Hopefully Jim Duffy has been a good boy this year and Santa brings him a few new players.
