  1. How have David Verlaque and Moses looked so far?
  2. It was the right decision in the end. His time here hasn't worked out and I just can't see how he was going to fit in this season. I would guess that he was one of our biggest earners, so it will free up some funds for Mackay to go out and either strengthen or to have on the back burner in case of injuries later in the season. It's a bit of a shame how things have worked out for the lad, after a tremendous year at Berwick, we were all full of hope for him and were excited by the signing. His hat trick against Elgin brought higher levels of excitement and expectation but soon after that we could all see the way that it was going to end up. I'm not sad to see him go, as I found him frustrating and at times a liability, but I wish him well in wherever he goes. I've been told he's a good guy who lives near the borders so wouldn't be totally surprised to hear he already has something lined up back at Annan or Berwick.
  3. No need to apologies buddy. Wasn't having a go. Keep up the good work.
  4. Mmmmmm.....he's not bad, but he didn't do anything to suggest he was good either. IMHO. Sorry mate, but this is wrong: "Andrew Black is also available in this role while Ross Smith; Ross McGeachie and Lee Hamilton will battle it out for the central berth alongside Scott Davidson." Ross Smith and Ross McGeachie are our first choice Centre Back pairing. Scott Davidson will be pushing them. Lee Hamilton is a Left Back and if further cover is needed in the centre of Defence then going by the Betfred Cup games, Ewan McNeill will be the player used to fill in.
  5. On the back of the Jordan Burt article, Dave Mackays comments in this week's Stirling Observer are interesting: He said "I had a chat with Blair as he's obviously wondering why he is not playing but he needs to show me more than he has shown. He needs to improve his fitness and be a better all-round player to play in the system that we want to play. We want to press from the front and he is maybe more suited to playing with two up front. I have no issues with Blair and he has never caused me a problem but he can definitely improve - he's someone who scored 20-odd goals for Berwick a couple of seasons ago. It's not quite worked out the way he or Stirling would have liked but i wouldn't say the door is closed. If he shows me enough to get back involved in the squad then the door will be open for him".
  6. I've no issue with that and for what it's worth, he's looking in good shape for the season starting. Lets hope he starts this season like he finished the last.
  7. When you announced the signing, I posted on the Brechin thread that the guy was a liability and was blasted by some of your posters for saying that. I'm pleased to see that some of you are now seeing it. It's only a matter of time before some of your squad staff disliking him and not passing to him and Brechin become even more disjointed up front......this will happen. I felt for Jackson at one point in the second half. No idea but I do know he wasn't sitting in the stand or in the suites with the other unused players. I just assumed he was working. Tonight, especially the first half, we saw an attacking performance of fast passing and great movement, something that Henderson just does not have the ability to do. Sad to hear if it's true, but I'm sure we can all see that Mackay only has him because he signed a 2 year deal under McLaren. If it is true, then don't be to surprised if the money is found to get hi off the books.
  8. I remember, at tail end of last season, posting on here that, if Morrison had played the whole season as well as he ended it, then he would of been amongst the candidates for the leagues Player of the Year. I think that's how good a player he can be for us. I wasn't sure about him at first but now I think, if he keeps developing, he can go on to make a really good living out of the game.
  9. Seeing where you finished last season....and reading your thread over the past couple of months....I'm actually embarrassed for you posting this. Quick, delete it before anybody else notices.
  10. Moses Olanrejawu & David Verlaque both signing for Edinburgh City tonight. Moses was a big hit with the younger fans during his time with us. No doubt he is someone with potential and if you can get that out of him then you'll have a good player there. Very raw but has pace and trickery. Me personally, I wasn't such a big fan. I tended to find that Moses had the attributes listed above but very little else. He was very self centred, everything had to be about him and "The Moses Show", I just found it all a little frustrating in truth. There is nothing worse than sitting in a relatively empty stadium in the cesspit of Scottish Football, drawing a game and Moses running down the touchline wanting a high 5 from everyone who is leaving or doing jumping jacks down the park shouting "Moses, Moses, Moses" when actually, he hadn't played well or contributed a jot. I wish him well, it'll will be interesting to see how he does. I'm chuffed for David Verlaque, I developed a soft spot for him and think you've found a player who, can blow hot and cold but if you can keep him hot is a good player. He played Right Back for us but there was always talk of his natural position being just off the front in an Attacking Midfield role, McLaren never played him there. He was good going forward, was a little suspect Defensively but I think he's a player you'll like. Never spoken to him or anything like that, just what you you would describe as an honest player. His crosses into the box are hit and miss but he has been known to skelp in the odd worldy. His confidence was shot under McLaren and he looked a shadow of the player he was when he left the club, but as I said, I think you'll like him. Good luck to both players.....except when they face us of course.
  11. Think he's been brought in to sit on the bench and will have been told that. Mackay has already made it public that he wants Binnie to be number 1 which is why Chris Smith wasn't offered a deal.
  12. Looks like Chris 'Junior' Smith has hit the Herbalife over pre-season and managed to get himself one of those dodgy Nigerian passports of you ask me. Not the "experienced Goalkeeper to push Cammy Binnie" that Dave Mackay would have been hoping for but good to see us having 2 settled keepers and hopefully he can indeed give Binnie some healthy competition. Welcome onboard Mark.
  13. Currently sitting in the Norway Stand at Ochilview watching my son take part in Stenny's summer camp. Great to see that despite reported cut backs in finances and P&B talk of financial hardship over the past few seasons that the club haven't give up on its community plans. I'm guessing there must be over 50 kids here, Primary School age, both boys and girls and every one of them look like they are having a blast and enjoying themselves. I know this doesn't help the club on the park, but I personally think it's important for clubs to get into their communities and offer something, and Stenny were amongst the best at that when the plastic pitch was first put down and it's great to see that has continued [emoji1303]
  14. Yip, fair play, rumoured to be £5k, you're right.
  15. Fingers crossed that history can repeat itself then. I think Henderson has slipped down the pecking order with the arrival of MacDonald but I'm sure if he can show his "Berwick form" then he'll be back in. I've probably been his biggest critic since signing but it's a new season so it's a clean slate from me. It was reported to have been £5k at the time. Not sure how true that is though.
  16. I've posted it elsewhere but I'm delighted at the signing. McNeil has probably been the best Right Back I have seen us up against over the past 3 seasons so he'll be a good addition to the club. Looks like that's the squad now complete (with the exception of a back up Goalkeeper), doesn't look too bad from where I'm sitting, but I can't help but think we'll need to bring a Centre Back in on loan at some point. I have every faith in Smith, McGeachie & Davidson but not to keep injury and suspension free.
  17. Stuart Brown stating on Twitter that Ewan McNeil's registration with Clyde is now cancelled and his registration at Stirling should be through by tomorrow.
  18. A good advert not to take drugs then, you start seeing things nobody else does.
  19. Where does it say this?? Haven't even read anyone say we'll win the league, never mind talk over the world.
  20. Superb news. When MacKay was talking about bringing in a Winger I was keeping my fingers crossed that Morrison was the man. Welcome back [emoji3] If our squad ends with the signing of McNeill and Morrison (although we still need a back up keeper) then I think, by and large, you've got to be happy with the squad that Mackay has put together.
  21. Just read the statement on your website David. Must say that I'm absolutely delighted at the news. I watched him play against us for Brechin a few years ago and thought he looked like a player who was too good for League 1, but when you only see a player once or twice, then you can't really judge. I was surprised to see him rock up at Forthbank with Berwick the following season, but in the 1 and only time I saw Berwick that season, McNeil & Blair Henderson were absolutely unbelievable as they went on to beat us 3-0, but it could of been more. The times I watched him play against us last season, earlier in the year (couple of draws from memory) I thought he was the best player on the park along side Easton and I remember thinking again, that he was wasted at this level. However, as you guys started to really struggle, I can't say I even noticed if he was playing or not. Can't wait to see it officially announced soon, the final piece of MacKay's jigsaw?
  22. Superb. Any idea what the line up is Mattie?
  23. Would be nice if they could give us Lamont back.
  24. Hard to say.....he was never in our season haha. He could be described as someone who played a lot of games but didn't actually do anything to stand out good or bad. Hard to say if he was a good player or not but I certainly wasn't sad to hear that the club were going to make no attempt at signing him.
  25. He spent a month on trial with Edinburgh last season as well.
