  1. Just back in to heat up despite all the winter gear in a windblown stadium. A game where two defensive errors produced two goals . I could argue that Gallagher's one was at least a skillful finish so I suppose I should concede that the Queen's guy took full advantage of Rae's assist. That kind of play it out from the back error has been ever a risk this season.

Thought Ferrie had a couple of good saves and a draw was probably fair. Somehow we've got to the top four but I thought our midfield never really got going tonight.

First quarter over so quite pleased even if my prediction failed again.

    Warmed up at last.

  2. I just love the prospect of two visits to Cappielow and another away game in this marvelous cup competition ( assuming that we beat, apparently our big team). Being a hypocrite I'll reverse my dislike of the colts inclusion and go to the delayed game.

  3. Once went to Brechin for a 19.45 kick off, and due to accident on Forth Bridge some Brechin players were not there. Both clubs agreed to delay and after seeing half of European game in nearby pub we went back to the ground for a 20.50 start .Would have been better advised to stay in the pub as we got humped by the late arrivals.

Back in Airdrie well after midnight.

  4. Two sides with different approaches to a match and once we'd missed a few chances, and they took the first one, it never looked as if we'd break them down.

I agree about the passing about stuff throughout the game and like Dundee United they just said carry on guys.

I know there might have been a serious penalty claim but it was a disappointing day from most of our side.

Yes 12 points is quite good and there's been good stuff so maybe it was just one of those days ?

    Still physically challenged mind you.

Life has put it on a back-burner. Off Friday so will get my notebook out mate. Hopefully...

I've been keeping a wee updating eye on it since week three leading scorers, as I'm a retired chap with lots of time if not IT skills.

    Predictions:

    Airdrieonians 2 Ayr united 1

    Dunfermline Athletic 2 Arbroath 1

Inverness Caledonian Thistle 1 Partick Thistle 1

    Queens Park 1 Morton 1

Raith Rovers 1 Dundee United 1

Saw a few of our fans complaining about the WDE on Twitter. Aye it should have a roof or some sort of cover over it. But give me the WDE and Cappielow over sitting in that main stand at New Broomfield any day. At least the place has a bit of character, history and uniqueness to it and feels like a proper football ground. Much better sight lines in there than the main stand at Cappielow which is also a plus.

Great result yesterday and really important to get that first away win. Thought Morton probably had the better of the first half hour or so. They were physical and winning a lot of the first and second balls in midfield, and I thought you were able to get in behind us fairly effectively. However, other than hitting the post, I don’t remember Morton having any clear cut chances in either half. Once we scored, despite Morton again having a reasonable amount of pressure, it never really felt like they were going to get back into it. Agree with the other posts on here that we dug out the win well but I thought we actually were good going forward too and looked dangerous whenever we managed to get into Morton’s half. We need to start killing teams off though. Thought Todorov should or could have maybe had a go himself at the one he set up for Gal. Although it was a lovely pass and run from the two of them and the offside call looked pretty marginal. Likewise Frizzell should had a shot on goal rather than take a touch/beat a man one too many. You’re practically clean through on goal, what more could you want?! I thought he was the best player on the park yesterday but that’s probably his most frustrating habit. Especially as he’s actually got a good shot on him.

Delighted for McGregor to get the winner. Think him and his family enjoyed that one 😉

Don’t think Morton were terrible necessarily, but they really lack a bit of creativity and ingenuity going forward. Clearly ran out of ideas very quickly and shelled long balls and floaty crosses in the general direction of our goal which Rae dealt with easily.

An 8-point gap is a nice spot to be in at this stage. Ayr, Queen’s Park and Inverness coming up so a real chance to be in a solid position come the end of the first quarter.

Agreed on the football analysis but I would have liked a choice of where to view the game given inclement weather likelihood. And the sight lines are always better side on even if I had to sit, side on!

On a sunny day who knows!

  8. Yep it was dug out and given the long grass it was great to see.

So happy to see Lewis score and a battling style was needed but we did have some lovely passing moves.

So many late chances which would have let me relax.

We ended up with a strange shape and players after Todororov came on and in the dry stand I detected a few groans about Gabby going off!

Thistle/Raith/Morton now beaten so we've got to be pleased at this opening spell.

  9. On the game I was not surprised to see Morton mainly be direct while we occasionally overplayed in the late period when our counter attacks offered good chances.

The spell in the first half before we scored, was dominated by Morton and the post saved us again, like last week. I've not seen Morton obviously but they don't look relegation material in effort terms but I was surprised to see Muirhead wasting his time wide right, and Boyd's career has hardly advanced.

As others have said Morton appeared to simply sling the ball eventually into the box but our back four and goalie were rarely in trouble.

Frizzell was the best player on the park despite such a poorly awarded yellow card. Good to see McGregor scoring.

On the subject of the rain etc I was allowed in the stand and it remains a puzzle as to why Morton were unwilling to allow these senior citizens ( and others) a choice to purchase a seated area, even if they're only suitable for short legged chaps.
