  1. First of all, we are a community interest company meaning that no one person or consortium can own over 49% of our shares so it won't happen anyway. Secondly, even if it were remotely possible, the board are mostly made up of Clyde fans so the chances would be impossibly slim. On top of that, each member of the CIC (Clyde fans who have purchased membership) would have to vote in favour of it. Its an absolute non starter. The suggestion that we're crippled with debt doesn't apply anymore either. Rather than taking the easy administration route, we cut our cloth and slashed our budget to practically zero a few years ago (hence our league position) and are due to be completely debt free by 2014 I'd be extremely surprised if they bought out anybody to be honest. I just can't see it happening. As a side note, surely I'm not the only one to have noticed the absolutely pathetic contribution the Rangers fans have made to help their team? Last I heard, they'd raised about £500,000 for the 'Fighting Fund'. For a club that supposedly has millions of fans worldwide, that's an embarrassingly low amount and kind of adds weight to the suggestion that they're all vile gloryhunting shitgibbons who, contrary to the new club mantra, would happily walk away at the first hint of adversity
  2. Would any business want the 'dubious' honour of being the one to demolish Ibrox Stadium? Obviously it would be brilliant, but the sheer number of resentful fans, and not to mention all the **** in high places, would probably make it difficult
  3. Just got a letter through from Strathclyde's finest...I've been caught bang to rights doing 63mph in a 50 zone. Am I right in thinking that since it's a temporary limit while there are roadworks being carried out, that they can only fine me and can't actually give me any penalty points?
  4. Meadow was a pure doll but, aye, a complete pain in the arse. AJ too - both whiny, spoilt brats. Even Tony is a real c**t when you think about it - but he's a fantastic leader. When I watched it the second time around I started to dislike him - the way he treated Hesh after he borrowed money from him during his heavy gambling phase for example. I usually manage to find humour in his cuntishness though
  5. Tony Soprano: [over the phone] It's a bad connection so I'm gonna talk fast! The guy you're looking for is an ex-commando! He killed sixteen Chechen rebels single-handed! Paulie Gualtieri: Get the f**k outta here. Tony: Yeah. Nice, huh? He was with the Interior Ministry. Guy's like a Russian green beret. He can not come back and tell this story. You understand? Paulie: I hear you. [hangs up] Paulie: You're not gonna believe this. He killed sixteen Czechoslovakians. Guy was an interior decorator. Christopher Moltisanti: His house looked like shit. The best conversation in TV history
  6. The Sopranos is an absolutely incredible piece of television. Sylv Is that the one where Christopher and Paulie get lost in the woods? That's probably one of my favourites as well
  7. This is a bit of an obscure one, but does anyone know if you get breathalised before a flying lesson? I've got one on Sunday but I'm planning on having a few pints the night before - nothing mental, but enough that might still be in my system 12 hours later Drink-flying would be an impressive conviction to have mind you
  8. Cheers. So even if they later find out that the car needs a new engine, they can't renege on any trade in price?
  9. Does anyone know what car dealerships tend to do with regards to checking up on part exchanges? I ask because I took my car in to get a new wheel bearing fitted only to be told that the engine is fucked and will cost £3500 to replace, so I've decided to just get a new car Would I get away with being a sneaky c**t and not telling the dealership about the condemned engine? I suspect not, but I just thought I'd chance my arm since it'd be a shame to see a car that is otherwise valued at about £5k go for buttons instead
  10. Took me 7 hours to get from Wishaw to Motherwell before I eventually gave up and stayed at a mates house. If I had continued onto the M74/3, A80 and then Cumbernauld I reckon I'd still be out there somewhere! Currently I'm wondering whether to try and get back to Wishaw General for todays shift, or whether the traffic won't have improved much...
  11. Scotland currently 18-12 up and actually looking pretty decent Seff Effrika are all over the place at the minute
  12. Only just, and I go out on placement next week
  13. I'm doing radiography and I'm going on placement next month - my preferred choices were 1) Monklands, 2) Hairmyres or 3) Royal Infirmary, so they give me 4) Wishaw General
  14. Me too - I'm Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri 9-5 and Weds 9-1
  15. Yeah, that's it. Does anyone know any rat runs near Caley where I can park my car, by the way? There isn't any student parking, it's about £5 for 8 hours on the street and the bus is for smelly people
  16. Back to Uni on Monday after a year long sabbatical I'm going to Glasgow Caley to do Diagnostic Imaging. Really looking forward to getting started although I fucking hate meeting new people. Bought myself a fetching adidas manbag today as well as far more pens and notepads than I'm ever likely to need. I also spent about £200 on books, but mummy and daddy paid for those Uni edit - is manbag the right word? I just googled them and mine is bigger than a manbag...
  17. My £10 acca containing Macedonia, Albania, Denmark and France was only let down by the Macedonians, but another decent night betting in play saw me turn £60 into £140
  18. Yeah, I saw it in Tesco last week as part of their BOGOF book offer so I'll be buying that tomorrow along with 'Pompeii', another Robert Harris which looks quite good. I appreciate that Kilt, I'll definitely keep those in mind although as well as the two books above I've recently ordered Rubicon, as recommended by VT, and the first book in Conn Iggulden's Empire series courtesy of Mák, so that'll keep me ticking over for a while. Cheers everyone
  19. For no particular reason I've started becoming interested in fiction about the late Roman Republic. First I read a few books from Simon Scarrow's 'Eagle' series, which follows the adventures of two centurions, Macro and Cato, on the frontline of the Roman invasion of Britain. All of them were really good, enthralling and interesting reads, and that prompted me to then go out and buy 'Lustrum' by Robert Harris, which is a historical fiction which centres around real Roman politicians like Cicero, Crassus, Julius Caesar and Pompey. While the 'Eagle' books were based on the battlefield, Lustrum was set in Rome and was based mainly on the politics and scandals of the Roman senate. Again, it was an absolutely brilliant book and I'd definitely recommend both Robert Harris and Simon Scarrow's books to anyone intrerested in that period of time. I've even started watching the HBO series "Rome" which deals with the same period in time with the same characters I've just read about (mostly Cicero, Pompey, Marcus Porcius Cato and Caesar) All great reads which have encouraged me to try and learn a bit more about the Roman Republic/Empire
