    It's a nice thing to know, but I have to say I have very low expectations irrespective of who we draw. The record of non-OF clubs in Euro competition does not fill me with much hope, even if I think Robinson is a decent manager.

    Aye, it's the same with the league cup matches, even with good managers, etc, Scottish premiership clubs just aren't ready for these games when they roll round. Combine that with a draw against a team that's season is already in fully swing, like the Irish or Scandinavian teams and it's a recipe for disaster.

    Those of us who are of a certain age (ie under 45) generally have always talked about Tromso, Elfsborg, Feyenoord, Slavia Prague, Mechlen, St Ettiene and yes, even the H word with almost hushed tones of reverence. A generation that we were just a bawhair too late for.

    Stories of trips to places that those of us who went through our formative years supporting the club weaned on a Wednesday night in Brechin or an end of season 4-0 skelping off of Alloa, could only dream of as they felt like the stuff of pure fantasy compared to our St. Mirren supporting experience. That was the sort of stuff that happened to other clubs, not us. Not the St. Mirren of the mid to late 90s we supported. A generation of supporters who regarded trips in the early 2000s to places like Pittodrie and Tynecastle as total luxuries as we'd not grown up supporting a St. Mirren that played at these grounds. A St. Mirren where going to these places was taken as the norm rather than novelty.

    The fact that we are so, SO close to finally adding our own experiences to the ones that guys now in their late 50s, early 60s got to do as young men feels almost surreal. I get that other teams clubs are like 'pffft, Europe, been there done that' but there have been times, decades long spells that European football wasn't so much a pipedream as it was simply something that just could never be achieved. I have said before that seeing us there just once will be enough and I stand by that.

    Of course I want us in Europe on a regular basis but if you'd told me in the days of going to Stirling Albion having to win to essentially not go part time that we'd just get one crack at Europe in my life, given the utter shite we were always finding ourselves in, I'd have happily accepted.

    How far the club has come in the last few years, basically since Scott took over from the old board has been unbelievable. As a fellow fan whose main formative years were the 90s this is incredible. When you were used to watching Andy Roddie playing up front while you narrowly scraped a 1-0 win in a relegation 6 pointer against against Stranraer or Cowdenbeath, this is the stuff of dreams.

    Even now I'm so conditioned by those years it took me till the split this year to stop looking at the bottom of the table first to check how far off relegation we are.

    We lost the physical battle today and probably a fair result overall.

    Some shite I heard people spouting at full time though. You’d think we just went 5 points adrift at the bottom the way they were reacting.

    Heard that before, our fans can be quick to forget this is Dundee and St Mirren we are talking about. Fantastic seasons so far for both.

  4. Unfortunately I'll not make it this weekend which is a shame as I love a day out in Dundee, but it's been one of those weeks where you are reminded there are much bigger things than football in life. I'm not sure how the game will go, I think the pressure is on both teams and it can do funny things. For all the good Robbo has done, there are still very much question marks over this team when the pressure and expectation is high. Draw or big home win for me. Hopefully the former.

    Naw.... of the 10 incorrect discisions, none went against them and one helped them against us

    To be fair, the Bolton one didn't help Dundee at the time, it would have been a red card either way. It helped Livi in the next game though as he was suspended when he shouldn't have been.

    SPFL have confirmed we've been on the receiving end of 3 dodgy decisions -

    Bolton's red card v Dundee (didnt affect result but meant he missed game away at Livi, which we lost);

    Penalty we should have had for handball in the away Ross County game;

    Penalty we should have had for foul on McMenamin v Hearts.

    I now fully expect us to get everything going on Saturday, if it truly does "even itself out over a season".

    Are Dundee not one of the few teams that have been shafted even more than us by VAR/Refs this season though?

    In other news.................

    If you have a read of the Lincoln City forum, their fans love Erhahon and are convinced a championship team will snap him up in the summer.

    Potential for a sell on fee hopefully.

    To think so many of our fans said he was shite, had a bad attitude and should be sent to the championship on loan. They thought Cammy MacPherson should have been kept and played ahead of him!

  8. Boyd Munce also barely played in his first half season. This always happens, and in some ways you've got to kind of admire the guys who routinely end up making complete idiots of themselves writing off players/managers early, because the numerous times they are proved wrong never stop them from doing it with the next guy.

  9. When you are looking at Scotland's mentality problems it's quite hard to look past Edinburgh as being a large source of it. A real disaster of a team considering the amount of internationals they have.

  10. See Bradbury has resigned for Edinburgh, which I find a bit surprising as he seemed to be doing quite well down south and seems completely out of favour for Scotland for some reason.

  11. This has been a really bad half from Glasgow. Not scored a point, not really looked like scoring a point. Given away loads of stupid penalties and looked toothless really. Sharks well in this.
