The Ritchie situation is a bit sad really - from a stick on 6 and obvious choice for captain to rightly dropped in less than 2 years. Was looking back earlier on a post I made in 2022 talking through the stats of our pack, and at that time he was a bit of an all rounder - not outstanding anywhere but a high volume player and a very decent breakdown threat. I think that's still the case, but he's not the threat at the breakdown he once was (this is purely perception, I haven't looked at stats and could be wrong) and in poor form an all rounder can start to look like someone who doesn't make an impact. I think it's good news that we have the depth in the back row that we can field a better starting 3 without him and that at least on form Crosbie (pre injury) and Christie look like more impactful versions of the same type of player. I've mentioned it before but were he a bit younger given our other options it'd be interesting to try and retool him as a lock but very unlikely to happen. All that being said, I think it's a good place for the squad to be in overall where fewer and fewer players are undropable and there's consequences for poor performance

I think Ritchie will come good again, he's only 27 and it's not like it's been a bad injury or anything, he's just out of form at the minute. I think it's good we have the players now to drop those guys and give them a break and you have to reward the players playing well. Not too long ago Ritchie would have almost had to play every game by default because there wasn't anyone else.

Pretty much as expected really - injured players plus Ritchie out

May be an image of 1 person and text that says "SCOT SCOTLAND SCOTLAND /FRANCE 2:15PM MURRAY IELD, EDINBURGH 15 KYLE ROWE 14 KYLE STEYN 13 HUWJONES 12 SIONE TUIPUL OTU (VC) 11 DUHAN VAN DER MERWE 10 FINN RUSSELL (CC) 9 NWHI eter Vardy PIERRE SCHOEMAN 2 GEORGETURNER GEORGE 3 ZANDER ERFAGERSON GRANT GIL HRIST 5 SCOTT CUMMINGS 6 MATT FAGERSON RORY DARGE (CC) 8 JACK DEMPSEY REPLACEMENTS EWANASHMAN ALEC HEPBURN EL LIOTMI LAR-MILLS SAM SKINNER ANDY RISTIE GEORGE HORNE BENHEALY 2 One As"

I don't mind this team, I think it's better balanced and has a bit more about it. My minor quibble is why bother with Healy in the bench? It's obvious the only way Russell is going off is on a stretcher so could easily just have Redpath covering and put another forward in there.

  3. I didn't think Main was that bad, he just played like Cutis Main, that's what he does. If you aren't going to play to his strengths and get players round him to feed off him winning the physical challenges then I've no idea why you would sign him. That boy Mellon might be a player but he was absolutely shite tonight and offered nothing except a lot of whining at his team mates.

Ritchie had an anonymous game.  Looks like his head is elsewhere.   As for the pack, partly that’s on Townsend.  Turner and the ref were on different wavelengths and Ashman should have come on earlier.

I think a lot of us called out the pack as an issue before the game. I don't think the balance was ever really right, especially in the back row and the Reffell issue really killed us second half. We are usually a turnover team, with the backs we have, quick ball from turnover is huge, but we didn't really have any jacklers in the team. Some of that was injury issues, but we also left guys like Christie and Watson out the squad.

Looks like Ritchie Gray will miss the rest of the tournament which is a blow.

Gilchrist will be back next weekend but I'm tempted to hope that the starting 2nd row is Skinner (he can play 2nd and back row) and Cummings. I just feel that discipline needs to be far better next weekend but am I the only one who thinks that Gilchrist gives away far too many penalties?

Did you not think Skinner was terrible when he came on though? I thought he was one of the guys who completely lost it and was a total liability.

Only complaint would be that we were pinged for several offsides when other countries seem to have players almost permanently offside but get away with it.

Game management in the second half was deplorable, complete opposite of how in control Scotland were before half time.

I know what you mean, but that's not BOK's fault, that's other refs being weak. In all honesty, I thought it was almost refreshing seeing a ref just give penalties correctly. Under another ref we could have easily been down to 12 as Spyro says, although I personally think some other refs would have shat out of giving a few of them as they'd have been so aware they were giving them all one way.

Funny game though, the pre match predictions were either us blowing them away early or getting dragged into an error strewn shit fest where we gave away hundreds of penalties and Reffell absolutely murdered us at the breakdown. Actually everyone was correct.

  7. It's a good point on the ref, usually the refs get slaughtered on here, do you'd expect a ref giving 14:pens in a row against us would get pelters, but he was fine, we just shat the bed.

Still, in the cold light of day, I'll take the actual victory over the moral one. Let Wales bask in the glory of only losing a wee bit, we've done it plenty of times and know it amounts to nothing.

There’s been more posts on our threads from St Mirren fans about Miovski’s double hit penalty than any other subject.

Yeah, I'll take your word for it, not really interested in Aberdeen threads tbh. But you did ask why there were less posts on St Mirren threads these days. I gave you the answer. I'm sorry the answer upset you.

    Good attempt.

It's true. Go and look at the Motherwell thread. Hundreds and hundreds of posts whinging about St Mirren, and not just from Motherwell fans. Just so happens they are doing it over there now instead of on our match threads because their team are shite and they don't like getting laughed at.

What has happened to St Mirren match threads? For the first couple of months they were 30/40 pages long with Saints fans rubbing everyone’s noses in their wins. We’re on Page 5 of a game you’ve strolled.

Basically, most of the Aberdeen and Motherwell fans have stopped posting on them because their teams are absolutely shite. Without these seething weirdos posting hundreds of posts about how bad our threads are they've just reverted to being normal match threads.

  11. I think at some point a ref will start reffing them properly, and once one does it, they all will. It's starting to become a "thing", and not just for us bitter Scots. If you look at twitter everyone watching that today seems really quite stunned at just how blatant it was tonight. It's not normally that bad, but Dickson was so ineffective they pushed it well beyond. There are videos of Irish players not just coming in from the side, but actually coming in from the french side of the ruck to "clear out" jacklers. There was actually one where the clear out is just an Ireland player picking up the french player and carrying him 10 yards to his own line. There's only really so long that can go on, it's a terrible look for the sport.
