What has happened to St Mirren match threads? For the first couple of months they were 30/40 pages long with Saints fans rubbing everyone’s noses in their wins. We’re on Page 5 of a game you’ve strolled.

Basically, most of the Aberdeen and Motherwell fans have stopped posting on them because their teams are absolutely shite. Without these seething weirdos posting hundreds of posts about how bad our threads are they've just reverted to being normal match threads.

  2. I think at some point a ref will start reffing them properly, and once one does it, they all will. It's starting to become a "thing", and not just for us bitter Scots. If you look at twitter everyone watching that today seems really quite stunned at just how blatant it was tonight. It's not normally that bad, but Dickson was so ineffective they pushed it well beyond. There are videos of Irish players not just coming in from the side, but actually coming in from the french side of the ruck to "clear out" jacklers. There was actually one where the clear out is just an Ireland player picking up the french player and carrying him 10 yards to his own line. There's only really so long that can go on, it's a terrible look for the sport.

Yay!  Another game fvkked by tackle laws. Gooooooo Rugby!

More fucked by a big fanny unable to tackle legally twice. I mean, he's already got away with one then he did it again.

How many of that Welsh team do you think would get into our team?  On paper I think we look stronger than them but I do know the game isn't played on paper.

If both teams play to their potential we win.  Can't go into it looking at it any other way to me.

Maybe I'm being overly negative, but in that Welsh team I see a young side of in form players with nothing to lose. We could step up and blow them away, that could happen, but looking at that Scotland team I'm picturing a dysfunctional line out, Reffell dominating us at the breakdown while we struggle to get turnovers and a high penalty count, often off our own ball. I'm not sure how the scrum will go, I really don't think it's a given we will dominate them there either. I think if we get dragged into a shit fest we could be in real trouble, and they have the backs to punish us as much as the other way round, neither team looks particularly rock solid out wide.

  5. I was quite torn on Van Veen, as I'm not really sure he would fit us or we would get the best out of him. He's 32, hasn't played in a while and is getting punted 6 months into his stint at a new club. Still, he was so good last season it would have been difficult not to get excited, and I don't really want him signing for one of our rivals. I feel he will do well at Killie, but would have been crap for us.

I thought Crosbie was more of a open side so not sure why Ritchie is prefered at 7.

Also all the press has been about Christie and his 3 MoM performances for Sarries, and doent even get on the bench. I supposed if there was any game you would want to have 2 uncapped props on the bench this is it, but it doesnt fill you with confidence, especially if we get similar next week against France. Hopefully we can get 60 or 70 minutes out of Fagerson and Schoeman, Im sure Fagerson has played full 80 before.

I've also just realised we only pick 1 fullback in the entire squad, and given McLean's injured do we even have anyone that plays FB as first choice, not just wingers or centres that can fill in?

At 15, we've got Smith obviously, who is injured, then Hastings has played well therefore us before, but again injured, then Maitland has also played well therefore us but we don't pick him now. I'm sure Steyn had played there as well. To be honest, I'm not quite sure why it's not him this time either.

I just have a horrible feeling about this. Getting flashbacks to a few other times we've gone to Cardiff as favourites, missing some good players and with a bit of a weird team and none of them were good times.

  7. I'm not feeling that Scotland team at all in all honesty. Back 3 look shaky, back row isn't our strongest or our most in form, bench front row is ropey and the second row is functional but not brilliant. Can see issues at line out, scrum, defence and under the high ball. Dunno, not filling me with confidence.
