  1. Even all that could have been justified if he had signed better players to replace them, but he didn't, he signed either utter shite, or hopelessly inexperienced guys who weren't ready for what was expected of them.
  2. Probably, but there is still a question mark over his scrummaging for me, though I suppose he's a better all round player than Reid and he finished the season very well. I think Cummimgs might be closer than you think. Again, he finished the season very strongly and is developing into as decent carrier as well, which we don't really have at second row. Also, for me, Toolis has never really been particularly impressive for Scotland.
  3. Yeah, Davis, Morgan and Liam Smith were vital in the championship win, and a few others had already been punted as well. That squad needed rebuilt no matter who was in charge. Stubbs big problem was he signed utter shite and was quite clearly a fucking bellend. And when I say he signed shite, I know some of those guys will end up being good enough players. I'm sure Coulson and Alfie Jones for example will be fine, Hodson was actually alright and Cooke has improved, but they were entirely the wrong players for St Mirren at the time. I'll always renember watching Alfie Jones in a state of shock as Curtis Main kicked f**k out if him early on, he had obviously never been up against anything like that in his life before. Stubbs could have had guys like Halkett and Stewart, but he chose to have Kpekewa and Brock Madsen instead. Then when these guys turned out to be a disaster he had to go back to the players he'd already told to f**k off, who at this point hated him. It was almost like he wanted sacked. Maybe he needed some quick cash?
  4. Big game for Bhatti, Toolis, Ritchie, Strauss, McGuigan and probably Jones and Taylor as well. I reckon those guys all play in positions where some big names are going to be left at home. Suppose for Jones and Taylor the question marks are all around form and fitness, but the other guys could still miss out even at top form.
  5. Yeah, we've got lucky with that, Russia shouldn't even be there. With Japan, they are clearly a good side, and will be well up for it, but to be honest, that try doesn't really give me the fear. If you'd showed me them shitfesting up the pitch through a series of lineout mauls before eventually scoring a penalty try after a series of 5 meter scrums I'd be far more worried.
  6. To think it looked like Ryan Flynn was going to be out the door in January. He's currently one of, if not the, most important players at the club just now. Absolutely dominated that midfield today with Foley. Lovely stuff.
  7. I'm assuming the reason sportscene refused to show these multiple assaults on Aberdeen players is due to the nationwide conspiracy to keep the Dons down.
  8. We look good, the players we have signed look absolutely perfect for what we are trying to do. Early days of course but we attack with pace and purpose. Durmus looked very dangerous until he tired, then we were able to bring Mcallister on for him! Night and day from last season. Foley and Flynn are so solid in the midfield and Andreu just looks so classy (though that looked an absolute sitter he missed!). A bit of competition doesn't seem to have done Magennis any harm, and, possibly unpopular opinion here, I think Mcloughlin looks a better player than Popescu. Obika probably had the toughest day. He's obviously not fit, but he performed a thankless task very well. Probably stayed on 10 minutes longer than he should have. Finally the salty tears on Sportsound made the drive home extremely enjoyable.
  9. Mullen is a wee bit underrated as well I think. We missed him badly last season when he was injured. His scoring record wasn't amazing, but it wasn't shit either and he was living off some pretty meagre scraps. If he stays fit and scores at the same rate this season he should get 8-10 goals this season. Not world beating, but actually not that bad either if you compare him to the main striker at other clubs around the same level. The goals he scored were all important as well, and he tends to do the business against the teams around us in the league. We could do a lot worse.
  10. Demented Zebra is already burning his "Mullen" shirt in the back garden.
  11. The only time I've ever been itk about a signing was when my mum told me months in advance that Stephen Thompson had signed because she knew his mum. It was a good feeling, I'd like to be itk again someday.
  12. I've got this absolute belter of a picture from the great escape season, on the day you guys got the trophy and we stayed up in the championship but I can't find it. Honestly though, my away games these days are severely limited, but Easter road is the one I like to make the effort for. Brilliant away day, and the Hibs fans are always sound.
  13. f**k the result, let's just take a moment to realise how wonderful Easter road looks on the sun. Best away day in Scotland.
  14. I liked Jackson as well. We weren't very creative last season at all and our strikers were really living off scraps. I thought Jackson and Mullen were the best of them. I reckon the problem with Jackson is probably that he was quite expensive. Wouldn't be surprised if he was one of the highest paid players at the club last season, and it's whether he's really worth it or not that is the issue. Also, he'll never live that penalty down.
  15. Yeah, fair enough. Being a middle aged grumbler myself though I do think it's the young guys in the support that have brought most of the positivity and made supporting St Mirren much more fun recently.
  16. Well, yeah. She's the Tory for the Guardian readers, the good jock that Liberal Democrats in England like.
  17. I wouldn't be surprised if Davidson is gone over the next few months either. She doesn't fit anymore, same way Dugdale didn't fit when Corbyn became Labour leader. The Tories are now an openly right wing, hard Brexit, racist party. That's not really Ruth's brand. Johnson knows she fucking hates him as well, and he's the boss at the end of the day. It's not like she'll be short of work either if she does go. The media will still love her.
  18. Bit harsh to blame the younger fans for all the knickerwetting. Most of the nastiest and pathetic vitriol I've seen, especially on Twitter, has been from middle aged men. Eta- and B&W army is now basically only seething middle aged men, and it's an absolute cesspit.
  19. Easing himself into it. You dont go straight into Curries and throw the DVD player at the wall, you have to build up to it.
  20. I listened to that Tomkins interview on the way to work. That shortened version actually does him a bit of a favour as the full version is even worse. You could tell Robertson just thought he was an absolute w**k and decided to go for the full humiliation in the end.
  21. I dunno, I think this guy might be posting from his HD ready house.
  22. Well, I'm sure you won't mind if the rest of us just stick with the fully documented and widely reported facts instead.
  23. Wait, are you honestly trying to claim you don't remember the 8/8/8 fiasco and Gilmour's part in killing it? You don't remember the abuse he took from people like Richard Gordon, Stewart Milne and even Neil Lennon? It was a pretty big story mate.
  24. Gilmour saved Scottish football when your guy was wanting to inflict the 8/8/8 nonsense on us. Took some amount of abuse for it as well while the east coast clubs and their pals in the media were sucking up Celtic's arse. If you come up by the playoffs next season you have Gilmour to thank.
