  1. He certainly has talent, but I know that two seasons back Hopkin was unimpressed by Lyon's fitness level when the players started pre-season work and it was a similar story after the first lockdown. Maybe it's an attitude thing, but if so hopefully he'll wake up and smell the coffee sooner rather than later. Blues ain't the best in the squad, we know that, but he's fit, works hard and does the job he's asked to do as best he can - he ain't as bad as he's often made out to be on here. Looks as if Gus has more confidence in Blues than in Lyon at the moment.
  2. Dunno, but the point MCT made about the old Sasines Registe and the first change of ownership after the system changed is entirely relevant and explains the delay. I had an issue a few years back with 4 small areas covering about 6 square metres in total that took about 10 weeks for lawyers to resolve. Frustrating all round, but it got there in the end and so will this.
  3. Strange comment, typical of the blinkered who believe that everything is either nearly 100% black (like, for example, you do) or nearly 100% white (I haven't seen any evidence of those in our support). There are, obviously, plenty of issues at Cappielow that have still to be addressed and which must be addressed, and nobody on here will dispute that. However, anyone who expresses a more balanced overview of the current situation than you or a few others do or who isn't ranting about the club, the turnstiles, the manager or Cameron bloody Blues in every single post makes them a happy clapper in the view of some. The Thumper bloke thinks you were making constructive criticism in your post. You and I both know that that was not your intention. Lighten up a bit, ffs. It's only fitba'. The new regime isn't even in full control of the club yet due to whatever legal issues remain to be sorted out - give them a bloody chance before you rip them to shreds like the envelope your season ticket came in. Actually, on that - if the club HAD enclosed a fixture list, you'd have ripped it in two opening the envelope. Then you'd have been moaning because the feckers didn't laminate it.
  4. Two points to make here: 1. The fact his comment could be looked on as being constructive criticism is entirely coincidental; the guy is one of the biggest negmeisters on the board and he got a rid dot from me for his constant negativity. 2. Neither of us who dotted him could be considered to be happy clappers.
  5. ^^^ aye, it's the wee things that natter. Buy yerself a letter-opener, FFS. That's a disgrace.
  6. If we have any additions it's odds on they'll announce it, wouldn't you say? And given that we have several players hopefully being assessed after coming back from either suffering Covid or from self-isolation, what's the rush to announce a squad 30 hours before a game? Honestly, there's enough to be bothered about without inventing more. Wee bit of common sense needed.
  7. Aye, you'd think you could've tried some kind of course of self-improvement, but you're still the same old Gary. Shame, that.
  8. If you're that convinced that that's their attitude, why don't you vote with your feet? Don't go to games, don't buy the streams, cancel your MCT direct debit and just spout nonsense on here. THAT'LL show 'em.......
  9. It's quite clear that the club want the game to go ahead. It's also quite clear that the decision on whether it goes ahead or not is not down to them. Still, don't let that stop you from hanging the blame on Morton. Obviously, you know best..........
  10. Of course not. No Scottish footballer EVER reads Pie & Bovril. And ESPECIALLY not the forums dedicated to the teams they play for or have just signed for. And even if they did, they're all far too mature to allow the level of negativity they'd find to have the slightest effect on them in any way, shape or form. (Actually, I agree that what's on here won't have much effect on on-the-field performances. But I don't think there can be any doubt that the almost constantly negative drivel posted by you and few other numpties both here and on the Morton board can certainly have a negative effect on individual and team morale. The only thing in question is the degree of that effect)
  11. Rriigghhtt...... So, basically, relegation a few weeks ago would have been a good thing....... Because you say so. However, relegation at the end of the COMING season would be a BAAAD thing....... Because you say so. I think we're all getting the picture here, champ.
  12. Great, that's progress - a tacit admission that, err, it WOULDN'T have been a financial advantage. Now, keep it up and try yet again to show us all how relegation would've been a solid basis to progress - because so far you haven't had a single poster in agreement or supporting that ridiculous contention. Again, be extremely specific. We're waiting.......
  13. I see..... So, what you're saying is that it doesn't really matter what league we're in and whether we are relegated or not, all we have to do is drop down one or more divisions in the next few seasons and as long as we commit to a hybrid full- & part-time basis all will be sweetness and light and we will eventually be back in this division competing with the full-time teams. Pretty much, err, just as we are NOW, THIS SEASON, then, except that we're still full- time and should therefore be better able to compete, as we saw when we played against Airdrie who operate on broadly similar terms to those that we wish us to adopt. Thanks for clearing that up. Next, tell us all how to nail jelly to the ceiling.
  14. ^^^^^ dissembling nonsense once again. The rubbish above has nothing to do with what’s being debated, ie your many-times-debunked premise that relegation would have been the best thing for the club. Relegation would have been a financial disaster for Morton at a time when the new regime is at its most vulnerable, and the effect on the already battered morale of the support would have been disastrous, resulting in a further drop in financial support both via MCT and in attendances, whether physical or virtual. Give up this nonsense - it didn’t happen and it is utterly pointless to continue discussing it. We are where we are and we have to concentrate on making the best of it. I really don’t think you’re convinced that it’s a valid argument anyway; you simply can’t stand losing a debate so will continue to flog the same dead horse till everyone else tires of this and lets it drop, at which point you can tell yourself that you won after all. It’s what you do. But it’s time to stop.
  15. Dont be daft, this is P&B - everything is either 100% black or 100% white on here.... ........ usually black.
  16. Do they, though? I might have missed it, but although the monies were paid to the club do we know who will actually get the benefit of it - the old regime or the new regime? I think the earlier grant was conditional on it being used for certain defined purposes within the club - but I don't recall seeing mention of such conditions applying to the Scottish Government money, although it would be surprising if there were none.
  17. Shimmin was very good ( but NEVER "one of the best defenders in the country") when he could be arsed; he just couldn't be arsed often enough. But since you appear to think Joe Cardle is or was magic I think we can safely disregard your opinions.
  18. I've cut the rest of that post out because its just more of the same old bollocks. You're not Nostradamus but you keep on harping on with 100% certainty that relegation to League One would've been a better outcome for the club than staying in the Championship. None of us (and yep, that includes you) will ever know if there was any truth in that argument - because relegation didn't happen. Get over it and stop this pointless, tedious harking back to it. What IS relevant here is your last paragraph. Don't you remember the apathy and pessimism that enveloped the entire support all of last season? Had the club been relegated there would have been no return from that position ; in fact the downward spiral amongst the support would've got much, much worse. There would've been cancellations and reduced contributions to MCT, there would've been very little new uptake of MCT membership - certainly compared to what HAS happened since Championship survival was guaranteed - and season ticket sales would be at a far lower level than they are. Playing budgets would have been drastically reduced and, considering some of the teams and budgets in the leagues below, we would have been looking at a prolonged stay in divisions lower than the Championship. It would have been disastrous for this club. Granted, I'm talking here with a similar level of certainty to yours - but I'm starting from the here and now and going forward from there with a common sense approach that is at least as valid as your doom-laden prediction. It may be that by the end of next season we'll be relegated. I'll take my chances on that as we would still be starting out with a community-owned club and, I would expect, less pessimism amongst the people who pay to keep the club going than had we gone down now.
  19. That last bit's the surprising thing here for me. Hamilton must've been on decent money in the financial maelstrom that Dundee have been for years, so either Gus has really sweet-talked him, or we're pushing the boat out, or Hamilton has been very short of offers....... Unlike Dunning and some others I'm not prepared to write him off straight away; as port-ton's list shows several supposed 'calamity' keepers did well for us.
  20. Gonna give it a rest with the “we’d’ve been better getting’ relegated” crap? That ship sailed weeks ago, shame you weren’t on it. It was tedious chat before, but now it’s just plain guff. Seems ridiculous to have to say this, but it’s you I’m talking to, so here we go: WE WERE NOT RELEGATED. GET FUCKIN’ OVER IT.
  21. Of course, it’s just my opinion. Going by the way the number of active posters on there has plummeted over the last few years, though, it seems I’m far from the only one thinking that way. They’re not ALL bad, but there are only a few whose posts I find remotely worthwhile. PS - yours ain’t too bad.
  22. Wouldn't be greatly missed by many if it stayed that way. Most of the decent posters baled out long ago; the majority of the posts these days come from the some dozen or so narrow minds and twisted wee dicks. Maybe the Darwin Awards have another winner.......
