Morton vs Accies

You’re joking, aren’t you? For a start, it ain’t injury time, it’s STOPPAGE time. Let’s have a look at it: There were 5 substitutions in the second half for a start, and I think I’m right in saying that they add a minimum of 30 seconds for each. There was the Accies player who went down with a “head injury” in the box; your physio fannied about on the touch line for a while till the ref finally insisted he came on to treat the guy. His speed, and the speed of the two of them leaving the pitch, barely exceeded a toddle. Then there was the goalkeeper…… He must’ve taken close to a minute getting the ball back in play every single time it went out for a bye-kick in the second half, and he took as long as he possibly could to part with it after every save or pass back ( I think he’s meant to part with in 5 seconds). The ref told him to get the finger out at least once and I reckon he should’ve been another one to be booked for time wasting. Then there are the two, I think, who WERE booked for it, and the time they wasted, and the idiot who refused to move 10 yards back for that final free kick must’ve wasted another 30 seconds too, taking it into the next minute. So yes, add it all up and I think the referee was entirely justified in adding what he did. Teams, and fans, are well aware that not all refs allow sufficient additional time for the stoppages that happen during games, which is why teams try it on the way they do. Great to see a ref who does, and great to see a team punished for it - because THAT’S where the cheating came from. -

It’s plainly not cheating. You’re taking one poster’s skewed opinion as being the gospel truth. Sit doon and stop trying to stir it. -

^^^ 100% correct. The only thing the ref got wrong with regard to the time wasting was his failure to book the ‘keeper for it as he was the worst offender from the 46th minute on. Scoring the equaliser in the last minute of the (entirely justified) stoppage time was poetic justice, that was the worst bout of time wasting I’ve seen in years. Re the rest of the game, in a dire first half we could’ve gone a couple of additional goals down and we never looked like scoring. Whatever else they’ve been up to in training, they should have a session where they play the defenders as the attackers and see how THEY like trying to get a good first touch on balls shelled at them like missiles from 60 yards away. The best players in the country would struggle to do much with that, and we don’t have the best in the COUNTY. It’s a tactic that has produced buggerall in 11 league games and high time we tried what Gary Oliver suggested last week - the pitch is in much better condition at the moment than it was last season, let’s try using it to work the ball forward. We were at least competitive in the second half, although toothless. Big Gozie coming back for the last half hour or so was good to see,man have we missed him, and hopefully he’ll stay fit and get back to match fitness sharpish. The defenders should be told to stay well clear of him in training, just in case. With Dunfermline two up by about 3.20 things looked grim, especially after we went a goal down, even though by then Arbroath had levelled in that game. Our last gasp goal and their collapse meant we put another point between us and the Pars, but next Saturday’s visit to East End Park is still at the very, VERY least a must-not-lose fixture. -

Nope, the nearest thing to madness was giving him two years in the first place, but we can’t change that now. Two things make me think he’s here for at least a wee while yet. First, while I haven’t had the chance yet to look at the Q & A it seems that it was made clear that we can’t really afford to pay them off. Second, although up till now we couldn’t score in a barrel full of fannies we aren’t isolated at the bottom. Five clubs, ie half of this league, are bunched together between seven points and twelve points, and there are still twenty five rounds of fixtures to go. Unless things go totally pear shaped very soon I think they’ll give it till the beginning of next year before formally reviewing the management team’s position. There have been plenty of posts each week for the past month along the lines of “if we don’t win this game/the next two games he’s definitely got to go” but if you look at the bigger picture after just a quarter of the season that’s just bollocks. Nobody’s getting much enjoyment out of what we’ve seen up till now, but Tuesday there against a Partick team that reamed us earlier in the season and will likely finish in the top five gave some room for cautious optimism…….. assuming somebody in the squad can start scoring goals.- 86 replies

Tesco. Do some shopping instead. -
The amazing thing is that, with only 1 (ONE!) win in 11 games, we aren’t isolated at the bottom and are still more or less hanging in there. Dunfermline have 7 points, we have 8, Queens 10, Hamilton 11 and Ayr 12.. Five, count ‘em, five crap teams fighting to avoid the drop. Twenty-five games left, Covid permitting, so a lot can happen yet…….. but migawd we need to start scoring goals…….

From all Morton fans, let’s hope he doesn’t. -
Ok then, I’ve amended my post - my apologies to Stuart Duncan. The question still remains though - what are your reasons for your comment? I think it’s simply a personal dislike, but if I’m wrong and you feel you have valid reasons then share them. Feel free to pm me if you're worried about libellous comments....... PS - "Because I just don't LIKE him, right?" is not a valid answer.

Ok, phonefart ain’t allowing me to edit the post above [now deleted], so let’s start again……. Genuine question: what do you know, or think you know, about Nick Robinson that leads you to refer to him, once again, as a “shonky accountant” ? And what makes you think he has any influence on the football side of things? That’s not what he’s there for. Seems to me this is purely a personal dislike for the guy from you and you have absolutely no idea of how good, bad or indifferent his contribution to the club is, was or will be. He’s been voted onto the board by the new regime, who have been working with him for months, so presumably he’s been doing something right. Equally, I don’t know and can’t be arsed looking into who “Bishop Len” is, or what he's allegedly done, but I wonder why he’s another target of your bile. If there’s anything he’s done in the past that reflected badly on him or an employer then I’m willing to accept that as long as he can do a worthwhile job for Morton, much as I am with Allan Lithgow. Looks to me like in both cases this is just personal hatred from you, which you do have previous for. If not, let us have chapter and verse on your legitimate reasons for not wanting them at the club. err, WHIT?? First you’re complaining that one director is “playing football vicariously”, now you’re looking for the rest of the board to pitch in too. Selecting a football team by committee was universally given up as a failed concept many years ago. And, when the time comes to appointa new manager, none worth his salt would accept any interference in team matters. If you’re going to continually snipe at the club, the board and individuals then how about you come up with some legitimate and specific reasons instead of the unsubstantiated and scattergun crap in that post? Or, better still shut up and give us peace?

Given our situation in general I think a draw would not be a bad result today.
