  1. I watched The World At War last year during lockdown and a few others had a similar idea with it being talked about on here at the time. I watched the film Stalingrad recently so decided to re-watch the episode on it to remind me of some of the detail. Quite a few of the episodes left me absolutely speechless and this was one of them. For some reason I hadn't watched the last episode and watched it earlier this afternoon. The figures are absolutely staggering with 55m dying in WWII (including civilians) - 20m Russians, 15m Chinese and 5m Germans (of which 1.5m died in Russian prison camps). Remembrance Day will be coming up shortly and there will be the usual stuff appearing in the Poppy Thread but for me the whole purpose of Remembrance Day should be for people to remember the dead and recognise the pure folly of war. If anyone hasn't seen this series (I got it on the Yesterday channel) then I certainly recommend it. It doesn't glorify war, it's not jingoistic, the footage and interviews are incredible and it makes you look at the world in a different way.
  2. Our opponents have been getting plenty of opportunities and at some point a team is going to start aiming shots away from Kelly. Hopefully it's not Saturday but the highlights from the Livi game suggest the Hearts frontline was fairly clinical.
  3. If it's a 0-0 draw, do Hearts go top on alphabetical order or is some other criterion used (same points, goal difference, goals scored)? We don't do nil nil draws so completely hypothetical.
  4. Our whole house has been isolating for the past week so I'm hoping this has all blown over by the time I get out on Thursday as I could be doing with topping up and this would drive me nuts. Once this is sorted though, what's the next crisis going to be? It just takes the media to report a potential issue and the panic buying to start to complete the self-fulfilling prophecy.
  5. Johnnie Beattie on about the Glasgow Academy.
  6. Because ex-players, or more specifically, those that have gone on to become coaches or managers, should have more tactical insight than journalists. However, they need to be able string a sentence together and be aware what is required of them reporting on a game. An interest in more than one team would also be good.
  7. Another great 3 points although looked pretty fortunate. Looked a very surprisingly open game.
  8. I can also confirm the existence of Whifflet as I used to go there in the summer holidays. Well, my grandparents lived in the High flats and looked after me and my sister. This was long before the train station or B&Q as the foundry was still there so the highlight was a trip to John Menzies in the town centre. Anyway, I'm isolating so stuck with trying to get it on MFC TV. This is a game that we should always be looking to win but as we know is by no means a gimme - seen a good few comfortable home wins but also enough of County to know they can be stuffy and carry a threat up front to take the points. No idea but hopefully we can edge it.
  9. I'd watch that. Sounds a lot better than the actual film (I've seen it but can't remember the story).
  10. Does the company he works for not catch on to him going to a lot of interviews? They probably can't do anything about it if he's taking annual leave but it surely doesn't help his future prospects.
  11. 1hr 32mins for a train from Edinburgh to Motherwell! That's bonkers. You might actually be quicker getting the train to Queen St. and walking to Central or Argyle Street and getting a train back to Motherwell.
  12. Are County likely to come at us in the way Aberdeen and Dundee did or are we going to have to open up a bit? Could we hit 50% possession at home?
  13. Gerald Ratner tried it. As you say, didn't work out too well.
  14. I didn't even get that far. Haggis nan was enough for me. Where is this place?
  15. Not a film but the Bbc tried a remake of the Dracula story a couple of years ago. First 2 episodes were really good then they lost the plot with the third episode and destroyed it.
  16. They were talking guff but on this occasion I don't have a great problem with them prattling on about Celtic. They had already brought live coverage of the Dundee Derby, they only had updates from Ibrox (which is why I was listening) and were covering the Celtic game. They could have talked about Livi a bit more obviously.
  17. That made me chuckle and I'm giving Ropy a like as well because the lesser-spotted correct spelling of hordes on the Internet cheered me up slightly.
  18. Maybe there's a common link in these games with a perceived high amount of 'dead time'. Have they considered that Motherwell and St. Johnstone might not be the problem? [emoji848]
  19. Berwick against Gretna about to start on BBC Scotland with our loanee Matthew Connolly in goal for Gretna. Also featuring for Berwick is Tam Scobbie - the one that got away [emoji6].
  20. That's until one of them gets relegated again. Which one do you think it'll be this time?
  21. Is it particularly bad for Sunday games because the subway stops about 6 and some people want to make sure they get it? The empty seats were noticeable in the Sportscene highlights.
  22. Not handball if it comes off another body part first. I haven't seen it though.
