  1. I saw Tim Burgess at the end of October doing an acoustic set in the rather surreal setting of Strathaven Hotel. Just him on his own for most of it, joined at times by guys from BMX Bandits and the Pearlfishers who were supporting him. He came across as really humble and it was a cracking night. If the Human League are half as good as they were at Kelvingrove a few years ago then you're in for a treat. Mrs. McSquackle is going on the Thursday night so I'll hear all about it.
  2. Are they? I can only see their usual Gossip link to whatever crap the papers are coming out with.
  3. There's plenty of clubs that aren't in London. There's an absolute stack in that M6 corridor just for starters. This hypothetical £50k would go a lot further there also.
  4. So is there no footage of the Hibs fan setting fire to his flag kicking about?
  5. You've got to be on a hell of a wage for a £50k increase not to immediately convince you to move. This is all hypothetical at this stage of course, a lot can happen between now and the end of the season.
  6. Mine arrived yesterday but not tried anything yet.
  7. This is all a bit strange - I seem to be in agreement with the various Rangers fans on here. We've got separate accounts and a joint account which we both have standing orders to pay in to cover bills including the credit card. We're fortunate in being able to pay off the credit card bill in full each month so also use one of the cash back versions. It might sounds a bit odd but stems from when I moved in with her and working from one account seemed a step too far. Works for us - if she wants to spend money on handbags and I want to spend silly amounts to watch Motherwell then we can't complain as long we can pay our way.
  8. Fair enough- I knew your form wasn't great but I didn't realise it was that bad. In that context I can see the frustration at another game without a win. I knew you had gone from well in front of us to being a decent gap behind but I had put that more down to you missing a stack of games. Our form has felt a bit hit and miss but that's probably more down to how bad the defeats have been (like 3-0 at Dundee and 6-1 at home to Rangers).
  9. I know you'll be disappointed not to win after your second half showing but did you not enjoy that yesterday as a full-blooded encounter between two teams trying to score goals? Yes, there were mistakes but there was plenty of good play and attempts at goal. I've seen a lot worse this season, even in games we've won. I was driving yesterday but will take note of the pub recommendations for a future visit- cheers. [emoji482]
  10. Absolutely agree. As long as it's not a Ross McCormack style return.
  11. If that's the sort of money he'd be earning then he SHOULD be going. It's pretty much his pension pot. I don't expect anyone to buy him in January but I don't expect him to be here next season and we'll have to move on. It's been mentioned on here that the club expected Tony to leave in the summer and signed players on that basis. You wonder where we'd be in the league with KVV and Shields up front (much as I appreciate they both offer different qualities).
  12. I seem to have missed the smoke bomb/setting fire to his flag incident unfortunately. And I have to say, what a shambles Leith Walk is.
  13. He did alright without doing anything spectacular (although should have scored in the first half). Fairly disciplined performance to let others try to create. Eta: on that showing he's more capable than Grimmy of finding a team-mate with a pass but lacks crazy head-down runs. Eta2: just watching Sportscene and heard the comment - I didn't know Cornelius came through at Hibs.
  14. Really enjoyed my first away game of the season. Took my dad, had a nice lunch in Vittoria's on Leith Walk and it was a compelling game of football. Both teams will no doubt feel they should have scored more but a draw was probably fair. Some real crazy end to end stuff at times, particularly when Motherwell had a good chance then Hibs ran up the park and had a shot blocked before hitting the bar. Also, the crowd was announced as 15 thousand and something - have Hibs gone down the Old Firm route of counting all season tickets whether they're there or not because it looked a lot less than that?
  15. Where was the Hibs v Motherwell game in the running order? So I know when to tune in to the later showing.
  16. The club are heavily involved in suicide awareness programmes and mental health issues. He hopefully won't need it but I'm sure if he does that any support required will be available. We also have a reputation for helping players fit in so hopefully he'll feel right at home and make an impact on the pitch.
  17. Yeah, incredible that we now see Lamie going off injured as a blow.
  18. Great episode- best of the series in my opinion. I normally get it on catch-up but watched it live as my wife went to bed. Maybe that helped my enjoyment or maybe the few beers did (that I wouldn't normally have on a Saturday morning) but tremendous fun either way.
  19. Few nice beers tonight. It might seem daft but I really like how plain the bottle is when you take the wrapper off a bottle of Bacchus. It went lovely with a nice Graham's tawny port.
  20. As above, congratulations Dr. Hedgecutter. Enjoy your celebrations. Out of interest, is this a strange of time of year to be notified or does it depend when you finish your thesis?
  21. That's quite a read - an incredibly difficult life and obviously a very strong young man.
  22. For some reason I've always thought that games between Motherwell and Hibs tend to be much more entertaining than our average games. Don't get me wrong, they can be one-sided either way and both sides have dished out doings but there tends to be some quality football breaking out at times. So, after all that, nil-nil draw tomorrow?
  23. A Boy Called Christmas. Sky Original Christmas film - tedious, saccharine shite. Felt as though it had been written as a school project with a clumsily-written script and wooden acting. Lots of big names but they're absolutely dialling it in. And what's intended as the big twist is obvious after about 5 minutes (but maybe I'm reading too much into a kids' film). Anyway, bah humbug.
