  1. Yup cause we absolutely won’t sign any replacements for players who leave and will just default to what we have.
  2. Might be so but he still isn’t worth the money it would take to sign him. If the likes of Dunfermline or Raith want to spend that cash on him next season they can. I don’t see how he returns enough to warrant it.
  3. Logan Chalmers won’t be the best player for any Championship club next season even if he signs for one of them. He’s woefully inconsistent and most full backs have some sort of idea as to how to stop him. He should be playing for us right now if he’s fit but the wages he’d be after to sign him permanently simply is not worth it. I’d be quite annoyed if we broke the bank to sign him.
  4. FWIW I’d be very much in favour of seeing what McHughs availability is for next season but only if we can make him our own player like we did with Dempsey
  5. He is shite and you’ll only get the one good game in about five from him but I can understand Browns rational here if he intends to upgrade elsewhere. We’re already likely to be facing a defensive cull with Musonda, Sanders and McGinley away. He maybe think it too much to do to be signing upwards of 7 or 8 players in the summer. It is a bigger indictment that we’ve gone from summer 2019 without a quality right back though.
  6. I never claimed to have any evidence and have acknowledged it’s pure speculation. It is however absolute nonsense that a football club cannot afford to part ways with a manager. I was simply using that as a theory as to how they could get rid of McIntyre. I don’t see how it’s an absurd suggestion that he’d take over Arbroath with a similar clause in his contract. He’ll still be collecting a decent-ish wage and if he had managed to keep them up then he’d get a bit of credit in the bank and he’s still manager of a Championship team. It may well all be horseshit but it’s a more sensible theory than gormless fans going about claiming a club cannot afford to sack a member of staff.
  7. Well yeah it’s those very dismissals that have lowered his stock. He wouldn’t have been inundated with job offers with Arbroath being just as desperate as he was. I’m not saying he’s not going to get paid off. I’m speculating that there may be a release clause that the club can activate should they be relegated. It’ll still involve some sort of payment.
  8. Well done, you just described Jim McIntyre.
  9. Aye we can paint that on the rubbish bins at the back of the SRE.
  10. People who think clubs can’t afford to sack managers have very little understanding on how contracts work. I’d imagine every manager in the league will have some sort of break clause that means clubs can part ways without paying up the rest of their contract. Given the position Arbroath were in when McIntyre was appointed you’d guess relegation will allow for a parting of the ways without any fee being due.
  11. Lawrence Shankland trying to decapitate the Airdrie goalie at Somerset.
  12. How close was he to actually leaving last summer? I know we offered him what he was after but I always presumed he did that just to force your hand and give in to him. Not sure if we’d go back in for him this summer if he leaves.
  13. 1-0 Caley win. Arbroath to be mathematically relegated at Somerset next week.
  14. I think right now we are the definition of inconsistent. We haven’t won two games on the bounce since Whites last game and Browns first game and that was in January. The good thing is that if carry on with this form then we’ll be fine but at some point we’re going to get beat twice and with a double header coming up against Raith and Morton (two teams we have barley laid a glove on) there’s the fear that we could lose both. FWIW if I had to pick one game to win I’d take the Morton one. They are closer to us in the table and I’d rather we started getting more home wins together. There’s a fair chance that if we win all our home games we could find ourselves with a very good chance of getting fourth.
  15. Think if Caley beat them then it’ll be a 12 point gap with 4 games to play so it’ll be all but done. We’ll just be making it mathematically impossible for them to come back. Just a shame it’s not Dick Campbell in the dugout.
  16. If we can do enough in the next two games to pretty much rule out finishing in the bottom two then I’ll be delighted. We’ve been so inconsistent under Brown but find ourselves top of the form charts in the last ten games which demonstrates how mental this league is. If we carry on with the form we are on then we should be comfortably finishing 5th with probably leaving ourselves too much to do for a playoff spot. I think if we managed to find ourselves in the top four then it’d be an even bigger robbery than finishing second last year and you’d imagine Morton would feel pretty hard done by if they missed out.
  17. I’d imagine we’ve already made some sort of offer to him but he’ll be holding out as most players do.
  18. The club update seemed to suggest that Dempsey will be back in the squad for this one although I’m not sure I’d be starting him. Syla went off against Airdrie although it looked like cramp so I’m hoping he’s okay for this one. My main worry is Murphy. He did a power of running in the last game and played the full 90 minutes so I’m hoping he has come through it okay. We could conceivably have to play a back four of Tomlinson, Sanders, McGinty, McAllister.
  19. Christ two posts in one day from the club. Good to see we’ve found the Twitter log in details.
  20. On the face of it his goal scoring record for us has been pretty decent. Then you remember that he’s only scored 4 goals against teams that aren’t called Airdrie.
  21. The regularity with which injury updates are given suggests it’s easier than you are saying. I get the need for private information to be kept private in the workplace but a club is well able to say “X player is not able to play this weekend due to injury”. You won’t find a footballer in the country that would kick up a fuss about that. The club have struggled with communication for the last few years. It got better when the team were flying but as is the case at most clubs, when the team is losing then everything goes quiet. It’s as if they are afraid to tell us anything whilst we are losing games. When the team were PT in League One we got a match preview that always outlined the fitness updates of players. There’s no reason why that can’t be issued in the same tweet as the one that has the link to the press conference.
