Like you, Ihave followed this thread from day one. Didn't contribute muc hthen as my questions, etc had been covered a few posts later. I mainly now just look in to see what's changed.

To be fair to WRK he's responding to a pile of shite and is guilty by association. This thread will get back on track when there is more information available to debate. In the meantime. Let the kids squabble in their sandpit.

When the original and noteable absentees return, we'll know we'ree back on track.

I agree entirely with you on these points.

Greenie for that - I take what you say on board. Apologies for the bollox of the last few weeks, but in mitigation, there's not been a great deal of ON-topic discussion to be going on with. Once we get some movement on the various fronts, I assure you we'll be back on track.

To be honest, I've just been fucking around, pulling the Orcs' arguments to pieces when they get too chopsy and letting them know that, while it may be quiet at the moment, the rest of us haven't forgotten them.

Maybe you could contribute a bit more*, if there's anything you want to discuss? I'd welcome a change from the repetitive crap we've descended into recently. Or maybe add a bit of humour? If there's one thing you can say about the Amigos, they're not exactly a laugh a minute....rolleyes.gif

    * No offence, but this is a forum, i.e. an interactive discussion. If you want improvement, join in!wink.gif

Fair comments, WRK (ok to abbreviate?biggrin.gif). I've followed this from the beginning, and if I'm honest, a lot of what you have said over the piece has been very good. You have, unfortunately, let your standards slip by the tetes-a-tete with the three Amigos. Which you've 'fessed to - fair enough. We've hit a period of slow news so I guess we could all easily be sidetracked as a result.

If you feel like ripping them a new one - fair comment as well. They deserve it. Although, I think Tedi is actually ok on occasions. The two Ben.....'s really are fair game, IMO.

Lastly, just to be clear - I'm a Dumbarton fan, have been since I was 5 - that was 45 years ago. So I try not to be too active in threads like this because I support a diddy club and whilst I could contribute lots, I prefer to stick to the diddy club forums as I can't be bothered with put-down retorts such as "Team - Dumbarton" which I've suffered from in the past.

Not looking for sympathy but that's why I rarely post here, I prefer to enjoy the intrigue.

Oh, and cheers for the greeniethumbup2.gif.

    :D

Could't be arsed to check through 3-4 pagers of the same 7-8 posters going over the same shite as the previous 3-4 pages of shite........

Well said. Several alleged Yorkshire-based Kilmarnock/The Rangers fans are spoiling this wonderful thread with their constant, non-topic whingeing and tit-for-tat point scoring.

I reckon that we would be at page 2000 if it wasn't for their "contributions". Having read every page since Pozbaird opened up the best thread on here ever, the three Amigos and the White Rose Killie guy have ruined what was once a masterpiece of non-professional journalism, great debate, massive intrigue, and generally just enjoying the chess-like moves of the various shysters involved in the plot. It has almost been turned into a personal battlefield for these four characters. Dhenboy isn't much better either IMHO.

It's becoming as bad as the Celtic v Rangers, Rangers v Celtic Sub-section, ie, a pile of keech.

Heavily edited and ad-libbed by Thirdrock, but you'll get the drift ......

Green's job, ................ was to make it happen. Green's appointment and involvement was sold as a positive thing.

The early days of Green's involvement saw McCoist's reign as manager come to an end. With supporter discontent high, yet a recognition of what McCoist had (not really) achieved for the club, there were mixed emotions around Orcville when McCoist left by mutual consent. .....(likely)

Sevco 2012 went through a significant turnover of players as funds were provided to increase the quality of the squad, however, little did the fans know the extent to which problems were bubbling away beneath the surface. Problems derived from over ambition at board level and some incredibly poor decision making by Green that would start to unravel in the following 18 months and beyond.

Sevco continued to invest in well-known players; he return of former hero (enter any high profile Third Div signing name) was presented as a coup for the club. However it had come at an unsustainable price.(as foretold by many on P&B)

In the (winter of discontent, a.n Other manager) was appointed manager and was reportedly staggered at some of the salaries and contracts negotiated by Green.

"I bought into what I was being told by the Chief Executive at the time (Charles Green) as to what they wanted to achieve at Sevco. I was really up for it. They even offered me a two year contract and I said, "Look, I'll sign a one year contract and we will review it".Sounding familiar yet?

In a surprising move another manager was appointed, his first managerial role. This is when things started to unravel. Green was increasingly seen as untrustworthy by the fans.

Mounting financial losses led to player departures, alongside long term injuries to key players, this led to the new manager asking for funds for new players. Green's response was to sell £2.5K of players, claiming that this wouldn't affect the club's promotion prospects.

Fans increasingly believed that Green was interfering in team affairs. The persistent questioning on the matter was irritating the new guy and led to the Clubissuing a statement refuting the rumours and saying a three hour meeting had been held to thrash out the issue. It was as if Green believed his brief involvement in the game as a player made him qualified to be involved in what should be managerial duties. There are those who believe he had a say in picking the team, although this has never been proved. (Getting there)

During Green's reign as Chief Executive, several long-standing members of staff left Orcsville; including the club mascot, Broxi Fuckmi, a cretinous kit man and several backroom staff. including Tea Ladies This was built on rumours questioning who was managing these key roles, manager or Green. Departing players talked of increased director involvement and team unrest as players were being "treated as pawns".

The argument was that the attendances were not high enough to support the squad size and wage bill. He suggested that he had been led to believe that crowds would increase with successful football and investment in the team, but it hadn't happened. That risk taking was, apparently, the fans fault. This "financial suicide" that most other Clubs fans had foretold was something Green had personally presided over.

At the end of the day Green was in it to make money and the decisions he had implemented were losing money on a weekly basis, albeit with on-pitch success.

Green was becoming increasingly irascible. Apparently challenged by no-one but Bomber Brown, Green's response was to say he didn't give a damn and that he would sell Orcsville. The place could be closed tomorrow, he said.

With Sevco challenging for promotion to Division 2 and on a decent Scottish Cup run, fans could see the season unravelling. They had been sold a pup by Green yet they were the ones who were apparently to blame. Fans chanted "Charles Green, he sells the team". They were right. He had built a team with signings he had made, on wages the club couldn't afford and the Sheep fans were willing to subsidise by buying STs in their 1,000s. In the end, under temporary manager Sevco lost in the play offs and in the cup semi-final. A season that had promised much, had delivered some great games, but no end product.

"I am Chief Executive. I take the decisons and I live by them" was Green's retort to criticism of his operations. In the end he'll die by them. His position becoming increasingly untenable, Green's role was "redefined" and moved away from team and management affairs; his removal from the club impossible at the time due to pro-Walter factions on the board. His eventual resignation saw him receiving a payment in excess of £5,000,000, an amount that caused consternation and raised questions when highlighted by fans and shareholders at the AGM. He didn't do badly for himself out of a relatively unsuccessful spell at Sevco.

In between times new manager had become increasingly vocal about the difficulty of doing his job, players were targeted but not signed, and existing players were sold. It was like managing with his hands tied behind his back. He was paying the price for previous gambles that hadn't been given the chance to pay off. The plug pulled in panic. .

Charles Green is a much vilified figure at Bramall Lane. He may have just been a puppet for The Stand-up Guy; he may have been the ultimate decision maker, guiding the hidden investors. Either way the manner by which he went about his business won him few friends within the club, or with the fans.

And back to the real script........

Now, after a significant absence, Green is back in football with Rangers. The fans should treat his arrival with caution. What his role will be day-to-day remains to be seen. But the last thing Rangers need now is a man who takes risks, a man who panics when the risks don't pay off and a man who fans doubt they can trust.

Christ, if a simple guy like me can read between the lines, why can't and alleged 40,000 ST purchasers not see it coming?

    Sevco are doomed.

  5. On phone so can't check link...someone earlier on God knows how many pages ago posted numbers foe business and water rates which were hefty and when you add in public and employee insurance policing payroll for a hundred non playing staff pitch and building maintenance contractors gas leccy tax ni vat suppliers etc its clear that business costs can't be covered let alone players wages and the three million footy debt

    HTH :D

  6. Heading up for the Panathanaikos match on Tuesday, I was standing on platform 14 at Manchester Piccadilly waiting for the train. I was wearing a Motherwell top under my jacket and was skimming through the paper when an older man, mid 60's would be my guess, approached me.

"You going up for the gemme?"

    "Aye"

"I hope yese dae well but you're no in their on merit. The SFA should have forced UEFA tae allow us in it"

"You didny file yer accounts in time so ye got kicked out, whit the f**k has that got to do with the SFA"

"They'd have fought tooth and nail if it had been Celtic"

    "Away and dont talk shite"

"You're a fucken Tim int ye"

"Naw, but you're a fucken idiot now piss off"

Unfortunately the train didn't stop at Motherwell so I had to go right into Glasgow and get a train back into Motherwell. As I was going through the barrier at Glasgow Central I saw him in front of me he turned round, looked about, saw me and shouted "I hope yese get humped"

Despite the result, you can hold your head high. You were abused - wrongly, IMO, from what you tell us - and you stood your ground with an obvious *** c**t.

As a fan of one of the diddy Division Teams, rightlly proud in general about how things went this Summer, I was/am delighted to see the Well/Saints/DUFC (great former Sons player managing there!!) all in Europe. I'm proud that you all got there instead of the usual two.

It matters not how far you get in the competitions, although I wish you all well.....it's the fact that you're in the CL at all that makes this season unique.

All the best to you all. Including Celtic.

  7. Sitting in the Internet Cafe in my Hotel in Salou, it is 26 degrees and the sky is bright blue, already had a few beers, and the news means that I will certainly have a good few more.

    Can life get any better......

Oh yes, my team has just won promotion

The Airdrie Playoff Curse Remains a potent force.

GIRUY Teddy Bears, that is all.

Giving the Super Sons another chance at staying in Div 1. Thanks, Airdrie. We thought we'd be straight back down. You have given us some hope!

  8. Who are the chunts in the 5? I can't do much aboots Dumbarton chunts but sure 3 of the 5 are 2nd Div who will now have 0 punters from us to visit

    From our website:

THE Dumbarton FC Board joined other clubs this afternoon in voting to admit the Rangers Newco into the SFL Third Division, the lowest tier of Scottish professional football.

After listening carefully to supporters and stakeholders, considering the available evidence, and taking an active part in recent detailed negotiations, the Board felt with the 24 other clubs who voted the same way that the Third Division option was the best one in the circumstances.

Now - shut up and do one, you irritant.

  9. Cheers, maybe they'll release a statement.

Is it not ironic that of the 4 clubs who sofar look most likely to be 'Yes' voters (Stenhousemuir, Dumbarton, Albion Rovers, Brechin City) no fewer than 3 were among the 5 clubs Rangers led moves to exterminate in 1964 ?!?!

Please see update on post #68101. Undecided yet - no surprise, I suppose, knowing the people involved but no guarantee of a yes vote from us as yet.

  10. is it about time to lay out the battle groups as they curently stand?

I make it ----------------------Pro-Sevco Doncaster, Regan, Longmuir, Stenhousemuir, Dumbarton

Anti-Sevco Everybody else except Jim Ballantyne

    Any better picture?

    Er, no, not quite.

Please see an extract from the SonsTrust web page yesterday:

MEMBERS of the Scottish Football League are meeting tomorrow, for the second time this week, to discuss further details of evolving proposals about resolving the Newco situation at Friday’s extra general meeting. Despite a number of reports, condemnations and claims to the contrary, Dumbarton FC’s board have not publicly declared a voting position yet – though they have acknowledged the result of the poll at the recent DFC stakeholders’ meeting, and understand the depth of feeling of those who take a different view.

On Sunday 8th July a statement on the official Club website confirmed that “Dumbarton’s directors aim to stay closely in touch with developments that may yet effect the final outcome.”

What was shared at Saturday’s consultation was the information presented to all SFL representatives by the governing authorities last week – not a ‘Club position’.

The aim was to ensure that Trust members, season ticket holders and shareholders could receive the same basic information about what has been on the table as SFL Club reps, and to have the chance to express an opinion as to which of available options would be better (or “least worst”, as most see it) in terms of consequences for Dumbarton FC and others.

However, we understand that SFL negotiations remain ongoing, and important questions that have been raised about financial figures (including the settlement agreement between the SPL and the SFL, contingent on commercial agreements) are being investigated closely.

The Sonstrust also understands that a further DFC Board statement will be made before the SFL meeting. Meantime, the Club’s directors are wanting to ensure that the proposals that will finally be considered at Friday’s SFL meeting, and the determinable “facts on the ground”, are as clear as possible before making their full position known.

Happy to help. Can post a link if you don't believe it. Looks like we're undecided as yet, despite a "reluctant ballot in favour" by those present at last Saturday's meeting.

  11. Seems to me that matters have yet to run their course so that seems premature to expect of an SPL Club's Association - seems to me Friday looks far from a defeat for the diddys as yet, with most people seeing through the empty threats and only two sheister Clubs and their fans running in fear of SPL2 which has no chance of happening.

I can't get over your tirade against others in here. If I was a Dumbarton or Stenhousemuir fan this week I'd be hiding my head in shame of my Club's position.

No, they shouldn't. I have expressed my anger and disappointment on here and in Div 1 boards over what 50-odd fools bought into on Saturday at the Rock. I have also expressed similar but more vociferous commentary towards the Club this week, and have made my anger and disgust very clear to the BoDs.

You can say what you like about them - their pre-planned sales pitch on Saturday was misleading, as my like-minded colleague on here will probably agree.

We shouldn't hide or hang our heads in shame. We should be loud and clear in telling our Club that they have got it very, very wrong.

  12. WERE THE DUMBARTON FANS ALSO LIED TO AT THEIR EGM ?

CAN SOMEONE COME ON FROM THE SONS TRUST AND CLARIFY PLEASE ?

Not lied to, but misled. The topic of the settlement money being contractual was not brought up. I think they told us that the money wouldn't forthcoming henceforth if we didn't lube up and accept Sevco 2012 into Div 1. The whole thing appears to be scaremongering tactics to suit the pre-planned decision of the Dumbarton Board to try and dupe us into voting yes. They suceeded in cajoling 50+ fools into believing their horseshit.

I was, and remain, one of the 28 unconvinced with their sales pitch and am staunchly in the "vote Sevco 2012 into Div 3, or eject them for evermore" camp.

They got a last-minute plea from me to vote no, but I doubt that they could understand the underlying passion - and some of the phrases I used - when I emailed them. (Cheating, lying, bullying etc)
