  1. BREAKING NEWS: Nicola says Alex bets on the horses. https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/politics/nicola-sturgeon-brands-alex-salmond-23833335
  2. Imagine spending time on that and that’s the result. That’s worse than his launch video!
  3. ‘mon tae f**k man. By the end of the coming parliament the SNP will have then been in charge for near 20 (twenty) years. But they still haven’t been able to deliver their whole raison d’etre? So where do they go from there? By that point where’s the tactical left hook knockout punch that no one else is going to see coming?
  4. The (Scottish) establishment is definitely firmly based in the SNP / Green vote. Suits them both. Of course it does. Last thing either of them want is a disruptive party to offer an option to their ‘nose-held’ votes. And Scottish politics will actually be all the better for it, having a pro-independence non-governmental party involved in the debate.
  5. My mom is Tory and thinks he is awful - says that if he keeps pushing on Salmond-Sturgeon he will lose votes
  6. Zoinks. Is that really the best argument you’ve got?
  7. 3hrs 20m to play 14 holes. Another hour and a bit of this pish?
  8. This is the word I’ve been trying to articulate into something that itself didn’t itself seem snidey. But the whole SNP reaction to Alba has been nothing but...erm,,snidey.
  9. Cheap gamesmanship now.
  10. As quoted in CAPS on your post above, I reckon probably E Lothian and - just maybe- Dumbarton.
  11. ‘mon tae f**k boys, I’ve got work in the morning!!
  12. On my maths SNP will gain 1, maybe 2, constituency seats. Time will tell.
  13. Agreed. In Scottish politics ( in no particular order) we have Nicola (mentored by Eck),Eck himself, Ruth (did so well she’s off to the Lords) and the latecomer Sarwar (good guy but tied to a now irrelevant party in Scotland) as anything like competent politicians. The rest are (IMO) overpaid toon cooncillors. Unless anyone wants to advocate any particular rising star that I’ve missed?
  14. So, he’s the second most popular politician in Scotland then? Or is there anyone else in the middle?
  15. And if he were to do, can you suggest which party he should join up with that has a figurehead more obviously synonymous with the Independence cause?
  16. Bumped into Neil Lennon in a couple of Glasgow boozers on his previous stint as Celtic manager and always found him to be polite and with good chat even if he did try a bit too hard with the ‘let me buy you a pint’ chat. I can however confirm that he drinks (drank?) Stella and lime so definitely OFTW.
  17. Good enough for me ta. ‘mon the Victor Perez!
  18. We most certainly indeed are if @Henderson to deliver .....could please confirm whether this qualifies for FG points please?
  19. I had rather hoped for a bite. Do you think he’s off to bed?
  20. I think @virgintonshould stand for election under whatever banner he chooses. He’s got the talk. I reckon the worthies of PnB could collect in more than enough to cover his deposit and enough leaflets. Hell, we could even get @Divto run his digital campaign. Then he can offer his personable take on Scottish politics to the Inverclyde masses for their approval and maybe even - dream ticket - all the way to Holyrood. Any objections?
  21. That was kinda the joke/point. Once they’re in, they’re in for the term. If you happen to elect a pederast, fool on you for turning the blind eye in advance. Similarly so if you’re going to elect a party dinosaur who’ll instinctively side with his old boss. if you’re saying that the minute the elected member deviates from the party line or reasonable behaviour (currently I think defined by a jail term of 12 months or more) and insist they stand down then I think the whole system collapses under its own weight.
  22. How about if they sex pest text a 16yo and have to resign the party whip? Should that also merit a by election? Or if they are criminally charged with getting on a train knowingly having COVID? Or grope a young party intern but no criminal charges are yet brought? You draw the line where the incumbent doesn’t meet the manifesto standard?
