  1. Thanks for the vote of confidence. This team was put together with less care than last year's Title winners but I'm still holding some hope. If Slick Woods could arrange to cark it at the end of December it'd be a memorable win!
  2. Balls. It was another pointless ‘look at me, we’re doing it different’ (but we’re no’ really) piece of grandstanding from The First Lady. Go look up the Spanish infection rate then and now. I’ll wager no real reduction since.
  3. What date today? Oh look, Spanish Quarantine lifted! Anybody want next weeks lottery numbers?
  4. Has nobody else yet made the correlation between the Scottish Government’s limitations on Spain as a snide at Catalonia’s failed bid for independence? Anyhoo, with them having made the pointless separatist ‘point’, I’ll wager come July 20th the quarantine will be miraculously lifted. While our glorious devolved Government will have monitored the quarantining of the sum total of, ehhh, zero airport arrivals over the two weeks. Wha’s like us, eh???!!
  5. Cracking course. Played a couple of times but I definitely say play 18 as a short par 5. Nae danger anyone’s getting close with their second shot needing to fly near 200yds and stop dead. 5iron-5iron-wedge-putt (maybe!)
  6. I know you shouldn’t really quote yourself but: 9 holes, 4 pars, and 2 takeaway pints, the first in 3 months. Tremendous Im almost hoping for a second spike late in the summer.
  7. Got a text off my local landlord this pm. Open for Takeaway T from tomorrow apparently. I’ll be front of the queue after golf tomorrow. Have booked myself in for 2 pints. Will report back on my research.
  8. I hate you @Miguel Sanchez . I hate you I hate you I hate you!!! Delete my number.
  9. It is being widely quoted that Boris's announcement at lunchtime brings the four nations back onto the same path. It was only a day or so ago that Nicola was saying relaxing the 2m rule was 'reckless'. Today she says she's is 'looking at all options'. I said from the start of this that she had little material room for manoeuvre and when big calls are being made, so its been proven.
  10. Please tell me you aren't a teacher of English!
  11. You can do it that way but what I was meaning was just leaving the van running with the leads on for a wee bit, disconnecting them and then trying to start the car off it’s own power. Anyhoo, a diagnosis seems to have been found!
  12. Did you start it with the jump leads on or trickle charge and start it under its own power? If the former, I’d suggest a deid battery.
  13. Where else is a poor party animal expected to pick up £6k/month in these straitened times? Jeez! And expect the executive to actually force the issue??
  14. Outside door. I.e. no indoor shopping malls.
  15. Something new I’ve learned today. Didn’t know he was her current squeeze. Quite like her writing too. Seems a strange match, particularly given the seemingly never ending run of court appearances.
  16. We were having a similar conversation in the pub (remember them?) a couple of years ago about how our clematises (clematii?) were all out in full force and looking really strong. Jeannie the barmaid went pale and we asked her what was wrong? ‘Ive got the same but I’ve been going around telling everybody it’s my chlamydia that’s in full bloom!’
  17. Magnificent. Used to live in that part of the world ~30 years ago. Fox Goes Free was our go-to for a good fun fSaturday afternoon and I had a wee thing (fnarr) with the barmaid at The Earl of March for a wee while. No’ the brightest but legs that went on for miles. Bunch of Tories right enough. Probably all voted Leave too. Spitfires over Goodwood Aerodrome you see, wat?
  18. I'd watch that and maybe check. Our course is dead strict on there being no caddies or hingers on. Its just the two ball and that's it. And there's plently little Hitler park-keepers all to keen to grass you up too....
  19. Don’t want to get all oaksofty here but there’s got to be some acknowledgement of the employers’* situation surely? Arbitrarily let’s say everyone’s back at work end of September. Sweeping generalisations now follow for the sake of brevity. The employer is then playing either mad catch up to cope with the previous 6 months‘ backlog or furious scraping about to get the business back up to approaching something like sustainable but their workforce decide they want their 4 weeks’ holiday entitlement in the following 3 months? Surely it can be seen how that just doesn’t work? A place I used to work had a loose rule it was a week in the spring, a fortnight in the summer and a week in the autumn. Seemed perfectly fair to me. Asking people to burn holidays in relation to the calendar year doesn’t seem the most heinous of employment crimes, particularly if you’re furloughed and sitting on your arse anyway. Not a huge leap of faith to suggest that when the inevitable redundancies start happening it’ll be the same characters on here telling us it’s all the fault of the big bad bosses’ mismanagement. *and when I say ‘employers‘ I don’t mean global plc’s like the financial services sector etc, more like those run by @Granny Danger or that @philpy works for.
  20. Wee b*****ds. I just go chemical on them. Come back every year, f**k knows where from.
  21. Please bear in mind I have a distinctly lady-ish 21 handicap but today managed a very respectable 9 hole round of 5-5-2-4-6-4-5-9!!! (lost ball, heads gone) -3 for a very respectable 43 that would certainly have seen me cut a couple of points if it’d been a medal. The reason? Sensible shot choice chat on here, a 1 week old new set of Wilson irons that I’m getting confident with and yesterday’s £20 purchase of a 3-wood off gumtree. Driver never out. Thanks chaps. And the fact that I’ve played every day (ie actually been putting some thought in) undoubtedly has had an impact. Who’d have thunk it? Play more, get better!
