Chris O'Neil was signed from Airdrieonians, he's definitely not a loanee. Someone might need to correct me but I don't think Jordan Armstrong is on loan either, I'm sure we brought him in after he was released by Motherwell.

My mistake - you are right - I thought that O'Neil had been loaned from St Johnstone and Armstrong was released by Motherwell.

  2. Really do not know where we go from here. The board had done a decent enough job over the past few years keeping the club going but obviously have shown that they cannot pick a manager capable of doing the job and seem content to take the easy and cheap option. I doubt if there any other contenders when McMenamem and Irons were appointed and that has now backfired spectacularly on the board.  The big question they now face is stick with Irons or give him the boot now and admit they got the appointment wrong and try and rescue our season.

Cove Rangers and Waterford showed that there was potential and things looked promising then the wheels fell off in spectacular fashion.  His signings have yet to impress, his gameplan and use of subs is sadly lacking as well.  When we have the ball it is slow and ponderous and we look incapable of sustained pressure against a team nor do we look capable of making many openings. Our defence is a joke and surely that should have been sorted out in over 3 months of coaching and training. Halleron, Scullion and Marky Munro as well as McGuigan look to be out of the picture for the time being although Mcguigan started yesterday. Halleron was prepared to run at the opposition and Scullion had a bit pace about him,

We cannot look for any more loanees as I am sure you can only have 5 in a season and we already have Scullion, O'Neil, Dykes, McBride and Armstrong on our books so that option looks shot. Anyone that comes into the club in January will be jobbers that no one else wants and those on our books generally do not look up for the fight.

In all my years as a supporter this is one of the worst teams I have seen turn out in maroon and there is no sense of anticipation prior to a game more a general acceptance that we will have another poor day.

We will see in the next two weeks what ambition, if any, taht the board and management have, or if they are prepared to take the gamble that we will win the play-offs to remain in the league and that is something I would not be prepared to bet on given our current form and attitude.

The only consolation is that apart from the top 2 the rest of the teams are nothing special.

Agree with what you are saying there but the sad thing is at the moment we are not capable of beating any of them.  Apart from Brechin each and every one of them has rattled us and made us look incompetant.  Allegedly there is money to be spent but looking at the dross that Irons has brought in so far do you trust him to spend it wisely?

The good thing in all of this is that the board seem uninterested in what is happening and continue to tout for more shareholders. It is partially their incompetance at choosing a decent manager that has got us into this mess.

As someone has said we need 6 points from the next 3 games and if that does not happen then I do not know what we are going to do. Perhaps Irons needs a meeting with the fans to tell us his plans and we can also communicate our fears.

  4. Heard a few interesting things at the Rose game last night.

It would appear that Marsh has not left the club and had clear the air talks with both the board and the management team re the alleged comments and it would appear that they have been misheard or at least misinterpretated.  The matter could probably have been resolved if either party had spoken at length to the other but would appear to be sorted at this time which is good news for all concerned and hopefully no one will hold a grudge.

Also heard that there is an underlying issue in the dressingroom with a younger squad player stirring things up for the more senior members of the squad.

At least one member of the squad is due a contract renewal in the next month or so and we will see where management and the board lie when these come up for renewal.

Incidently it was also mentioned, and this is hard to believe, that the management were happy with the contributions made by Dykes, McBride and the centre half on Saturday against QP.

  5. There is something seriously wrong within the club at the moment. Games against Cove, TNS and Waterford appeared to show we were on the right track but the last three games have been a complete and utter joke. There is no commitment or fight about the team and the fact that the only effort on goal we had was a Munro header says it all.  It was performances like that that got the last manager the sack.  You cannot go from being committed to what has been on offer in the last 3 games without serious questions being asked.  Someone asked who the other candidates were when McMenamen was sacked but that is something we will never be told.

A few weeks ago in a newspaper interview Irons said he had a few players lined up - I seriously hope they were not Armstrong ands McBride.

Munro's booking yesterday takes him either onto or very close to a suspension and if it is true about Marsh then who is going to play centre half?

Really pissed off with what we are being served up at this time.

  6. For some funny reason the ariel pictures of the "march" appear to be photoshopped.  All you see is purple blobs with no definition and no other colours. Surely there were many Lion Rampant flags but as stated all you can see is purple blobs.

  7. Another league game and another game of utter shite.  I though our performance against Edinburgh City was bad but this takes the biscuit.

Last week no McGuigan so we played the ball on the ground and had reasonable success and looked the part.  This week McGuigan comes back and we revert to the long ball, the high punt and look completely lost.

The decision to replace Anderson was totally wrong, McGuigan should have been off and to bring on Dykes for Halleron beggars belief.

Our goalkeeper has a serious problem with his attitude, I make that 3 yellows at least so far this season and all for stupidity. Why does he have to run and get involved when it has nothing to do with him?  Can't be long now before he picks up a suspension.

If McMenamen was the best candidate available then the others must have been really bad.  We have lost every one of our home league games so far and are currently sitting 3rd from bottom 2 points above Stirling and Brechin. We only have the one tactic and that is not working.  Will be interesting to see what the board do over the next few weeks.  If we fail to beat Brechin and Stirling in the next two weeks then the board should hold up their hands and admit they have made a serious mistake and show him the door before we end up in the play offs for league survival.

Seriously pissed off with what is on offer.

I'm keen to see how we'll line up. It might be something like this:

    - Mark McGuigan - Kieran Anderson -

    - Alan Cook - Thomas Halleran - Wullie Gibson - Jamie McKernon - Chris O'Neil -

    - Scott McLaughlin - Andy Munro - David Marsh -

    - Graeme Smith -

That has to be the team with Hopkins coming off the bench if and when required.

Graeme Smith was probably our best player yesterday and bailed out the team on a number of occasions before Edinburgh City really took control of the match. Yes, he let himself down by getting involved with some daft shouts from the crowd but he's been largely very good for Stenhousemuir. Don't forget it was a couple of weeks ago when he turned in a world-class performance against Heart of Midlothian.

Agree in general with what you are saying he is an excellent shot stopper but in some of the other games he seems to have lost a bit of his edge and does not seem to be catching the ball as much, prefering to palm or punch the ball away, and too busy arguing but still a better bet than Marley.  The one incident that really cheesed me off and made me wonder about him was the ludicrous penalty he gave away against QP. Yesterdays arguing with the crowd was a let down as well.

  10. Much has already been said about yesterday.

Prior to getting relegated someone posted that it would be good if we went down as we would see our team winning a lot of games and challenging for promotion. Someone countered that if we went down then we were only a season away from the Lowland League. Which of these statements sounds more likely?

It is obvious that McMenamen was the cheap option to the board but was untested at managerial level and that is coming home to roost.  His signings have been poor and his gameplan would appear to be the hoof up the park.

As previously stated we were struggling in midfield so his tactics is to drop to a four and give them more control of midfield.  Any time we play the ball on the ground we look reasonable but it appears that is not the gameplan.

Losing faith in Smith at the moment - seems more intent in arguing with the opposition that concentrating on his game. Seems to flap at the ball now rather than catch it and has been lucky/unlucky at giving away penalties. However the alternative of Marley does not seem a good choice but obviously the gaffer saw something in his or would not have signed him.

Andy Munro is a blood and thunder centre half who now thinks he is a footballer and keeps playing balls back without knowing who is near him or in trying to play football gets himself into difficulties. Just do the simple thing and get rid of it.

Gibbons hardly showed before he was subbed yesterday, and by no means was he alone,  but Thomas Halleron must really not feature in McMenamen's plans when he cannot even get on.

As Beaver1 said beating Falkirk now looks like the worst thing that could have happened and obviously gave the board false hope in him. The next few weeks are going to be interesting and give the board some thinking to do.

  11. Can only agree with the above comments. We need to play the ball on the ground more often and we really do need someone in midfield with a bit of creation about them.

Once again we fanny about with the ball instaed of clearing it. Munro wasd appalling for the second goal - the man was outside him but he allowed him to come inside and take the ball off him. Put it out the park if necessary but instead we lose a goal. The standard of refereeing was as expected and will get no better this year.

Some said that when we were getting relegated that they looked forward to us having a winning streak - my thoughts at that time we we are only a season away from the Lowland League and saw little yesterday to change my mind. The next three games are vital or we could be playing major catchup before September.
