  1. Heard from a decent source that we won't be getting new kit next season, just using the current stuff. Hoops of course back as "home" strip. The dark blue as "away". Red will also be used if required
  2. There is no Third Division as well. Almost as stupid as folk who still refer to the Premiership as the SPL
  3. My thinking entirely before last night. Unfortunately not as simple as that
  4. Started supporting them because they are my local club. I grew up about 100 yards from the ground and was also ball boy in the early 80s . The amateur status didn't play a part in my decision at all, although I grew to love it as well as all the associated history. Turning semi-pro wouldn't be an issue at all for me if it was financially viable and the right decision for the club. If not and we end up playing at a lower level then so be it. As long as I still have a football club to follow every week
  5. It's an absolute no-brainer imo and that was aslo the opinion of the vast majority at the meeting last night, although there was no official vote. The only option is selling the ground and us not playing there. That's their deal breaker.
  6. That's what the club are wanting to happen, all part of the ongoing negotiations with the SFA . It will need plenty of work done to bring it up to league standard. We could go for the one stand like East Fife and Dumbarton or the two like Stirling Albion. Maybe one stand with a terracing behind the goal like Ochilview, that would be my choice.
  7. They might want Lesser as part of the deal so we'd have to look elsewhere ( back to Cathkin?) We don't really have a choice now. I hear that if we don't sell them the ground then they are going to Murrayfield and we would be taking a massive risk financially if we then take on all the current debts of the ground in the hope that it would be outweighed by any sale of the land. If the place is no longer used as a National Stadium then we have a proportion of the Lottery money to pay back as well as refunding Debenture scheme holders. I now see it as a great chance for us to re-model ourselves and play at a ground and a level suitable for a club of our size. Could be the choice of turning semi-pro or ending up in the Lowland league (playing at Hampden was always an attraction for players )
  8. To be honest, I don't think Queen's should take much credit at all for McGeady. He left us at far too young an age for us to claim we developed him. Celtic got him at just the right age to do that. My point was we don't need Colt teams in the lower leagues to help develop decent young Scottish players, there are clubs at our level well capable of doing that. It works because we mix youth with experience. I appreciate Robbo is a stand out case but we gave him a chance in our first team not long after he arrived at our youth set up and he took it. If this is all about player development then the loan system works just fine
  9. ..and if his name is Andy Roberston they'll tell him he's too wee and boot him out club. You can't find a better example really of a young Scottish player succeeding in the game through his own hard work and dedication, plus a willingness to start again at the bottom so he could make it to the very top. The pleasing thing is it had nothing to do with the Old Firm or any cunting Colt team.
  10. So play at Parkhead with a vastly reduced capacity each season? Perhaps re-build a stand at a time over a few seasons? Was that even an option? By all accounts McCann was a hard man to negotiate with right from the start ( which wasn't unexpected) He came in with some ridiculous demands. He seemed to forget that the club that owned the ground was still playing there every fortnight. He basically wanted to turn the inside of the place into Celtic Park for the season. Wanted the offices, hallways, boardroom, and other lounges in the old South Stand re-decorated in Celtic colours with Celtic memorabilia up on the walls etc. He even wanted some carpets -which had the QP club crest woven in - ripped up and replaced with green ones. QP said that was fine...as long as everything was back to normal for the next Queen's Park game ( so it obviously never happened) The QP committee just got fed up with all his constant shite so started giving him some back.....and 22 years later he is still seething about it He tried to play hardball over everything, including the rental fee , but his problem was he wasn't negotiating from a position of strength
  11. Can somebody tell me where Celtic would have played that season if the "mean spirited" Queen's Park committee hadn't agreed to groundshare that season with them?.. (for a small fee of course)
  12. You can add Queen's Park to the list of good guys. No public statement but been speaking to a few committee members and office staff who told me the club's official response to the SPFL "consultation" was they are against it.
  13. I had spoken to him loads of times in the pub before QP/Berwick games so I thought I'd engage him in some lower league football talk while he served me. He gave the impression he didn't have a clue what I was on about and insisted on repeatedly calling me Sir. "Hello Sir....would you like a bag Sir?... is that right Sir? Berwick you say Sir?... I wouldn't know anything about that Sir? £10.50 Sir?...have a nice evening Sir " Very courteous but weird at the same time
  14. A couple of years ago Kilt was spotted working in the Tesco in Mount Florida...made me wonder what happened at his airport job re P & B night out. Did some Clyde roaster not threaten to turn up at one of these and batter everyone? Something to do with him being ripped off for trainers online then getting the piss ripped out of him after he bizarrely passed his bank details to another poster?
  15. I used to love collecting programmes when I was younger. I still have stacks of old QP and Scotland programmes in the house, some of them signed by players. They are great keepsakes and they bring back all sorts of memories. However I haven't bought a programme at any ground for years now, decided it wasn't value for money and would rather spend the dosh on another pint. It also didn't tell me much I didn't already know. In the current climate of social and digital media I can get all the game knowledge I need on a daily basis from the club website or Facebook page, not to mention football forums like this one. I'm surprised more clubs haven't ditched printed programmes ( I'd even say our digital version isn't up to much but fair play to all those who contribute) As for buying team sheets, the club puts the team on twitter before kick off
  16. Barton and Halliday battering lumps out each other. Everyone's a winner
  17. Mind when Airdrie went tits up so Jabba then decided he was going to be an Albion Rovers supporter. How long did that last again? The fat p***k.
  18. This game is now officially my favourite ever non-QP game. Thank you Hibernian F.C. Thank you for everything
  19. Did Shaggro/ Penguin not tell us last season that Waters was the best goalie in the division, only for him to be bombed out the team the following week for Gibson?
