  1. He could very well be a huge signing for us. A bloke down the pub has just spoken to someone who knew him when he played for Morecambe. He was told he’s 100 times better than any other striker in this league.
  2. I’m not usually a fan of music being played after a goal but get the match DJ telt that whenever he scores Step On is the very tune that must be played!
  3. Rudden away to Raith Rovers on loan. It may not be a popular opinion but I think that’s a good move for both Rudden and Raith. ETA - All the very best to Rudden.
  4. I don’t think this vital issue has been discussed yet, so while we wait on a new signing, is Doc wearing an Omega Aqua Terra Chronograph @Bigmouth Strikes Again
  5. I may be reading you wrongly here but the rules are clear. If a player punches a player (or commits any other foul) in the box before the corner is taken the offending player would be punished as the referee sees fit. The corner would still need to be taken. There would be NO penalty. There was an incident similar to this sort of situation in a European tie at Ibrox many years ago and one in the Dutch league a couple of years ago. “If an offence occurs when the ball is not in play, this does not change how play is restarted.” And also: “If the ball is out of play, play is restarted according to the previous decision.”
  6. Again, totally agree regarding Beck. To begin with he often lost his man when the man was behind him at crosses. Beck did indeed improve that part of his game and I’m sure that was in no small part due to the coaching he received.
  7. I couldn’t agree more with you regarding Cameron. Far too often when he tries to tackle someone he runs in at speed making it way too easy for the opposition player to drop a shoulder and change direction. When that does happen he also seems to almost jog on the spot rather than immediately trying to work back. Hearts first goal is a prime example. Until he can address that issue I just can’t see him being a 90 minutes man. On the subject of defending has Costelloe got the heart for it? Doesn’t look like he’s keen to put his head and body on the line for a defensive tackle, although to be fair to him it’s early days.
  8. “Were” would be in the past tense. I would imagine they were singing “are”.
  9. I would agree. Still think there’s more positives than negatives so far this season so I’m not worrying too much.
  10. I’m not so sure. Shaughnessy is good at marshalling the defence but other than that I’m not sure we have anyone that can stamp their authority not only on the game but their teammates as well.
  11. He reminds me a little of Rory Loy in so much as I keep convincing myself he will come good. With that in mind, I think if he dropped a division he would actually do well in a team that regularly delivered balls into the box. He definitely works hard for the team.
  12. If I recall correctly Alan Lawrence also got sacked as a postie. Life was so much simpler when footballers just opened a pub when they retired.
  13. I think you are reading too much into these link ups. One thing is certain, you are definitely overlooking the fact that a player cannot simply be sold to another club without the consent of the player. Like it or not market forces will still decide who goes where.
  14. Any excuse to post that photo TCM and who can blame you? Truly a great team.
  15. He certainly was. I was sad to see him go at the time but I took comfort from the fact he was going to the biggest club in Scotland outside the old firm.
  16. Back in the day we never used to worry about the weather stopping play this time of year. Almost 36 years ago to the day* * I’ve kept the photo black and white as I thought that would be in-keeping with photos of our other trophy successes
  17. “Bled” is not an adjective I’d choose to describe his contracts over the years. I think he did give a lot back to the club over and above whatever ability you assess he had on the park. When taking into account the hours of unpaid work he did for the club I doubt he’d be on a particularly great hourly rate in comparison to many other players (that have failed spectacularly) our managers have signed over the last 10 years.
  18. Rudden has been told he is surplus to requirements, yet made a number of starts over Robinson. Was starting with Rudden simply a reflection of Robinson recovering from injury, Doc not liking what he sees in training or Doc simply looking for a different style of player to double with Bakayoko? Regarding Kerr, he’s been a fantastic servant to the club and deserves great credit for his continuous positive attitude. I think that moving Kerr on is another clear signal that Doc knows exactly the sort of players he wants to bring in. As much as Kerr loves the club I think a move away at this stage of his career would be beneficial for him as well as the club.
  19. At least we both agree that it’s funny - albeit I am sure for different reasons.
  20. If I was in your position I wouldn’t wait for his post match interviews either.
  21. @Staggie52 I assume you are still comfortable with his post match comments?
  22. Claims he didn’t do enough homework before taking the job? Is this not the man who prides himself in being thorough? I wonder if he ever actually contemplates the fact that he could be a big part of the problem?
