  1. I can understand why a lot of people don’t like having too many loan players but I’m reasonably comfortable with it, especially if the club can be relatively certain they will not be recalled. Done correctly I think you can get a better standard of player than the club can afford to buy / sign on a permanent contract. Im also not sure we can afford too many 3 year deals in case things don’t work out. As such quite happy to see the likes of Donnelly and McCracken be loaned to us for another year if the option to buy is not there. I pretty much agree with your thoughts other than the strikers. It may just be the fact I’m a card carrying curmudgeon but I think I’ve lost patience with Robinson and especially so with Bakayoko. Robinson may still come good so as you say if but I’m not sure I’d want to tie too much money up in him. Bakayoko for me simply doesn’t show enough desire. Too willing to fall over (and get booked) rather than fight for the ball and for such a tall player he just isn’t willing to dominate aerial battles. Recent examples being the first Celtic goal and possibly the first Kilmarnock goal. Come the end of the season I think we would be best thanking him for his efforts and moving on.
  2. I’m a bit surprised at that. For all the criticism Warnock has received I still think he will achieve what he was brought in to do and save Aberdeen from relegation……….
  3. Just released today I believe. The white dial Speedmaster Moonwatch Professional. Fantastic looking watch. Only thing I would perhaps be slightly concerned about is the comfort clasp only allows for two settings about 2mm apart. Other than that I think Omega have scored a home run with this one. @Bigmouth Strikes Again if I remember correctly you own a Speedmaster. How comfortable is it to wear?
  4. Yes, I don’t mind admitting Aberdeen have a good support that stands by their team. Pretty good vocal support as well. Not like the other half of what was the New Firm. They disappear whenever the going gets tough. That’s not simply my opinion as the 1,940 for the Doon Derby is evidence of that. A chance to get behind their team to avoid relegation at Dens and most were content to sit at home just in case the result didn’t go their way.
  5. Cracking pair of trainers for running. Just don’t wear them playing football if you’re a defender. Those heels would prevent any forward being offside.
  6. Given it’s Dundee FC related I thought it was the most appropriate thread to post it on. Also by posting it on the Dundee thread it’s an added bonus for you - you get to read it within an hour of it being posted.
  7. If it’s the incident I’m thinking of quite a few around me thought the same thing. The incident was over by the Derry, half way into the Killie half of the pitch. The ref flashed a red card with no Killie player standing beside him (if that makes sense). It was after a foul against (I think) McCowan. I can only assume it was another player being booked. Perhaps for dissent?
  8. There are very few players in this country like McCowan. His ability to shoot, tackle, pass, take a fee kick, penalty, take on a player and make himself available for a pass is right up there. Add in the fact that he is arguably the hardest working player in the team, consistently shows how much he cares, and you really do have a player that could step into the role of being our captain whenever that is required. If he was playing for either of a certain two teams in Glasgow he’d have even more freedom to express himself and soon silly money would be getting touted. Before anyone calls this hyperbole consider this. In my opinion he brings far more to the team and has more ability than Kamara and he was sold to Leeds for over £5M. Hopefully he does sign a new contract but if he is to go it’s time Dundee stood their ground to get an appropriate transfer fee, significant add ons and a sizeable sell on fee.
  9. United have spent 50% of their time in the lower league over the last 10 years. The worse record of the recently published “top 10 clubs in Scotland”
  10. Was there ever any chance whatsoever that Cameron would have been strong and brave enough to get close enough to the player to stop the cross for the goal? No.
  11. If only the Derek Adams you (and pretty much only you) lauded was still at County the table could have looked oh-so different.
  12. Wow. Not sure I’ve ever seen a post quite like this before. Taking a guess at your IQ I should in all fairness explain that is not a compliment.
  13. Shows how bad it is that after the 1st half I’m not fuming and I’m actually quite relieved. Genuinely thought Celtic would hit double figures. I think I’ve got a better of idea how United fans felt after getting beat 9-0 from Celtic at home. Not nice.
  14. I’m more worried Livingston is winning and I’m only half joking. It looks like Celtic can hit double figures here. That’s the sort of result where teams around you smell blood. Could easily derail the whole season.
  15. I’m now thinking it would be more relevant for you to post in what the Bon Accord score was at half time!
  16. For such a big guy his lack of aggression is definitely disappointing.
  17. The above could easily be a cut and paste from quite a few of our match threads this season. I am far from convinced by him.
  18. Just in case your interest in Dundee gangs from the late ‘60s into the ‘70s extends beyond the YLF. I think the Whitfield Shams colours were only used when Jack and Victor led the gang………* *they were in fact sky blue with a white stripe if I remember correctly. Perhaps @Derry Alli can confirm.
  19. Was it not Goodwin that made Watt your vice captain suggesting he bizarrely had / still has a lot of faith in Watt? The only other reason I can think of making him vice captain was Goodwin knew he was stuck with him (where else would Watt get close to the wages you are paying?) and it was to try and avoid another Jack Ross type situation.
  20. I think United will still get promoted. The trouble for United fans is I don’t think your board will have the same courage of conviction as the Dundee board did when we got promoted so I think you will be stuck with Goodwin next season - at least until early December…..
  21. If Arbroath go down that will be three clubs in a row he’s played a part in relegating. He really needs to start choosing his employers more carefully as some people may start thinking he’s the common denominator.
  22. Yeh, I don’t think he’s going to bag us loads of goals but I’m hoping he’ll help create more chances. He certainly appears to be an intelligent player so he may well help the younger players in the team.
  23. Have to agree your defence looked a bit shaky when Mellon and to a lesser extent Main (still not convinced by him) came on. Don't think your defence looked at all troubled by Bakayoko though.
  24. Especially against teams that will put pressure on us. I think we were able to play with a less aggressive and more attack minded midfield against Ross County and St Johnstone because those two teams are so poor.
  25. I think every midfielder should and needs to be able to do basic defending if they play in a team that will be under pressure for large parts of a game. I wonder if that’s part of the reason why we don’t play well against the better teams? They force us to defend more and more of their defenders and defensive midfielders are capable of joining the attack. He’s still young though and if he can learn to defend / tackle the way McCowan has he’ll be a real all round outstanding player.
