  1. 100% this. Runs into tackles so quickly a quick change of direction by the player with the ball and they are away. He should spend time looking at Beck to see how a smaller player should go about getting between the ball and an opposition player. Of course you need to be willing to take a knock doing that and I’ve not seen that side of his game to date.
  2. No question the better team won. Well done to Hibs. I think you’re now the favourite for a top 6 finish out of Dundee and the teams below us. I’m disappointed that we be put in such a lacklustre performance, especially the first half. Too many passengers today I’m afraid.
  3. I think playing Tiffoney, Cameron and Costelleoe at the same time makes the team too lightweight against any half decent team. I thought Mellon and Main improved the team when they came on, as did Mulligan. I actually thought Donnelly was ok today. Several players worse than him today.
  4. Thank you. I will just have to remind myself there are brighter sides to life and I should know because I’ve seen them - but not very often.
  5. First time I’ve endured Edinburgh when the rugby is on. Not nice!
  6. Are you in a position to provide a bar graph and a pie chart to back this assertion?
  7. Outstanding idea. I’m going to see The Smiths Ltd in Dundee on Saturday evening pretty much as soon as I get back into Dundee so it’s going to be a busy day for an old man like me. If I knew how to give you a standing ovation GIF I would. Perhaps @This Charming Man or @Bigmouth Strikes Again could oblige. Thank you.
  8. I’m trying to buy tickets now but it’s going so slow. All the free tickets in the latest section released (section immediately behind the goal) are towards the main stand side. I wonder if they’ve only released half this section so far? Either way it should be a good support.
  9. The man just oozes style effortlessly. No chance you’d see him wearing a frankly vulgar red pullover.
  10. Is that not a tv presenter from the ‘90s / ‘00s? I think he did consumer type shows in the main. I can’t remember his name though. I also think it’s more a maroon coloured jacket which is completely unacceptable under any circumstances but especially when speaking to the Proclaimers!
  11. Not sure how Joe will cope next season with league games every weekend and European travels and games mid week - or am I just getting ahead of myself?
  12. How many have been sold? 700-800 I would guess.
  13. Oh, I think it’s fair to say I have played a fair bit of football. I don’t agree with your assertion “If youre running, jumping, and stretching your leg, then youll also twist and your arms come out”. I’ve seen plenty of players running, jumping and stretching without the need to twist their body significantly. Despite your assertion to the contrary I think he could have ran, jumped and stretched without turning his back on goal. You apparently think that is not physically and / or reasonably possible. You clearly have a different, more defensive, position of a player in a team you support. You’re entitled to your opinion of course.
  14. So you don’t think he bottled it by turning his back on the shot?
  15. Still doesn’t answer why he turned his back though. I know it takes a bit of courage but I think players should be standing their ground.
  16. I think a bigger question is why your player turned his back on the shot like he did. Why not show a bit commitment to the cause and keep facing the ball? Definite penalty though. I don’t think you can just pirouette in the middle of the box with your arms out wide then complain about conceding a penalty when your arm stops the ball heading for goal.
  17. Just watched the highlights. BBC showing its usual bias with the highlights. Didn’t show a single shot on target by St Johnstone…………….
  18. His control of the ball, ability to shoot and pick a pass are all superb. Unlike most flair players McCowan’s work rate and defensive work is also superb. It really is a pleasure to watch him play. I just hope we can tempt him to sign a contract extension.
  19. That’s what I’m thinking. I definitely don’t think we can have Tiffoney, Cameron and Costelleo all in the starting lineup. Good point but I do think there was perhaps an element of Sylla not yet 100% settled in the side. Either way, I’m certain Doc will assess his options at training this week. I also get the feeling Doc sets out a clear game plan and everyone knows exactly what is expected of them. Not a classic today but there was some great team work.
  20. Would Sylla and Boateng in midfield work if we were to drop one of Costelleo / Tiffoney / Cameron from the side? I’m thinking in games where we need to be more defensive / patient.
  21. I note that when discussing luck you appear to be ignoring any luck United has had in games. Regardless of who is lucky and who is not, it’s not luck that a team like Raith score so many late goals. It’s good coaching and having recruited players with a good attitude and good work ethic. I thought the body language of the players from each team was notably different last night. If you wish to continue speaking about luck. How lucky are United to have an owner that chose to buy them and subsequently invest well in excess of £10 million to the club in his short tenure? There are plenty of clubs that will never have that sort of luck.
  22. I was asking that very same question watching the game tonight. From what I’ve seen of him he looks extremely poor and if truth be told a little unfit. @RandomGuy. was Middleton any good when he was at St Johnstone?
  23. Exactly. United win promotion and they will not have the courage (or money) to change their manager like we did. They will be stuck with Captain Birdseye and because of that they will struggle big time in the big league.
  24. Considering he was a sub for quite some time I think Ashcroft has done a pretty decent job recently. I would imagine this is a way of trimming costs as it looks quite a relatively large squad now. It would presumably also allow Ashcroft the chance of a regular game.
  25. I hope you’re not complaining. It gave you a chance to buy a t-shirt that I would imagine is still in near pristine condition, a commemorative poster and have a few drinks with your mates abroad.
