  1. Didn't see the game live and have no skin in the game whatsoever, but IMO the Celtic penalty was a nonsense (their player not only instigated the contact, but changed direction to do so), the red card was in the "seen them given sometimes and not other times" category but was correct, the Hearts penalty was a nonsense but the correct decision under the current laws and guidance. Certainly nothing worth the Rodgers meltdown but I get it that he's deflecting from his teams current malaise and his own underperformance as a coach.
  2. As long as its a cracking own goal like that trialist did when Airdrie played us a few years back. Think it was Airdrie anyway? Trialist came on, got announced as a trialist on the tannoy, scored a brilliant OG, got announced again ad a trialist on the tannoy, all within about 5 minutes. Quality cameo.
  3. Tough game in store as always but I think we look better playing the 4-2-3-1 and obviously having Todd fit makes a massive difference to how we play. Assuming everyone got through today unscathed I think we go with the same team, possibly Jakubiak for McCann although Lewis had his best game for a while, especially in the first half. Good to have options at last. Not sure if I'll make it or not but hopefully I can get along and we can keep this mini run going.
  4. I think with Benedictus, Breen, Fisher, Comrie all fit and Otoo and Hamilton available to play there, he might not be as crucial, especially if we continue with a 4. But I think we could use an out and out right back who could also fill in if we play a 3, especially if Comrie doesn't come back to his best. We'll also need cover or a replacement for Edwards on the other side of course, assuming Fenton isn't the answer. Agree that Hamilton was very good again today though.
  5. I'd be delighted if we can get Welch-Hayes and Kane signed up permanently in the summer by the way. Fagan-Walcott is a maybe at the moment.
  6. Ayr have been slightly better this half but that wouldn't have been hard. We've been pretty poor this half but we haven't really needed to do much. Hopefully we can get a wee run going but this league is bonkers and it's going to the last day for sure.
  7. I suppose you're in no danger of going down and the top 5 looks pretty set so tome to get planning for next season.
  8. Well the two boys Ayr fans were wanting to come on are both on now, let's see if it changes anything.
  9. Wow. That is laughably bad from Ayr. Superb from Kane though and well deserved.
  10. First 25-30 minutes we were playing football then it descended into a bit of an arm wrestle. Amazed we've scored from a set piece, especially since it was the smallest man on the park who scored it. Looked like the keeper's feet got caught in the mud or something, I've no idea why he didn't just stick an arm out or something to block it. Strange how poor Ayr look when they were absolutely superb in the game here when Bullen was manager.
  11. Should be two or three up in all honesty so we're losing this 1-0 probably. Oh how webe missed Matty Todd. Just having someone running from midfield makes such a difference and when he's as talented as he is it's a real game changer.
  12. "Yes, enemies within. We might once have associated such a phrase with despots" Hahahahahahahahahaha. Letts must surely be the greatest satirist of his generation.
  13. Two home games (and there's no guarantee of two - we lost in the first against Queens Park when we were relegated and Falkirk lost in the first when they failed to beat Airdrie last season) may have resulted in another 10,000 paying customers across those games, but after VAT, after policing and stewarding costs, after travel and potentially accommodation costs for the away game(s), etc are you really suggesting that would be a much better financial outcome than winning the league (with between 20 and 50 grand extra in prize money) as well as a 6,000 crowd for the trophy lift game that wouldn't have happened had we been 2nd, 3rd or 4th? That would make some sense if we are talking about this seasons accounts, but these are for last season. The increased salaries, money for Otoo and KRH etc won't be included here. Absolutely. Given the last time we'd won the division under Alan Johnston we'd actually made a small profit, I think most people assumed that we might be in a similar-ish position, especially since a lot of players left us and those who came in (Hamilton and Benedictus apart) were younger players and loanees.
  14. Only the 5th player in the open era to win 500 matches on hard counts behind the big three and Andre Agassi.
  15. The second round of sanctions are coming but couldn't be applied until the appeal from this one was dealt with. Still only a couple of wins ahead of Luton and they aren't in great form... long way still to go before the Ev are safe.
  16. I think after us hitting the frame of the goal about 27 times in the match at East End, you've had enough luck in this fixture. (Yes, OK, so not hitting the target is poor finishing rather than luck, etc, etc and so on).
  17. No thread on this yet? Great result for us on Friday night and more importantly a decent performance, especially after going 3-1 up. Matty Todd being back has really made a difference although it remains to be seen if he can cope with a game so soon after playing an hour at Firhill. Maybe Moffat will come in and Todd can be held in reserve for the last half hour if he can't manage to start but otherwise Jakubiak coming in for Holmes will likely be the only change. A win here would see us looking towards a midtable finish (think the top 4 is pretty much set now) and would really pile pressure on Inverness, but I'd happily take a point of offered at a venue we don't have a great record at.
  18. Never seen us win at Ibrox, which isn't a surprise since we haven't beaten Rangers away since before I was born and the only other time I can think we played there was in a 1-0 Coca-Cola Cup semi final loss to Celtic (which is the only time I've been to Ibrox). I can't remember seeing us win at Rugby Park either, but other than that I've seen us win at all the current Premiership and Championship clubs. Same goes for Leagues One and Two although I haven't been to Cove, Annan, Spartans or Bonnyrigg. While the bookies would say we didn't win at Borehamwood, we won on penalties so I'm claiming that.
