  1. Interesting to see that Allan was preferred to Chalmers again (as he was when the half time change was made v Arbroath). Seen a suggestion that it was for left foot and right foot balance with Otoo the other midfielder, but I'm not having that - if the manager thinks Chalmers is the better option then he'll play regardless of that (which I always find a nonsense argument anyway). I thought Allan was fine earlier in the season alongside Otoo and again on Friday he did pretty well, with his set piece delivery being on the money too. Big opportunity for him to show he's worth keeping as an option and not just a League One jobber.
  2. You've got to ask yourself, which one looks worse?
  3. Certainly looks like it's Ireland then us and France and then the jobbers at the bottom. Shame we didn't get the decision last time round but there's still a triple crown to win and to deny the Irish a grand slam (we won't but at least there's something on the last game again other than aiming to beat Italy to avoid the wooden spoon).
  4. Not particularly, no. He had a poor first half and wasn't particularly brilliant in the second but I'm pleased for him that he got hid goal. He seemed delighted, I assume that's his first senior goal? Really surprised at how poor Thistle were second half. We started the second 45 a lot better and on the front foot and hit the post before we did score. Great timing of the run, superb first touch, very classy finish. Pure Matty Todd. Once the "equaliser" was disallowed, Partick didn't react at all well and we controlled it really well once we got the third. Good ball in by Paul Allan who again looked reasonable enough alongside Otoo rather than having to cover for Chalmers. Much more aggressive press in the second half with Kane (and Jakubiak when he came on) putting a shift in. Got to try and build on that now. Also, is there any better sound than fans shouting "cheat, cheat" when the decision is actually correct? Wonderful stuff.
  5. Offside "goal" looks tight but could well be off. Angle doesn't help, but it wasn't a clearly onside call like Stewart was claiming at the time. Thistle goal looks to me like Hamilton pushed up to play Graham offside but Fagan-Walcott was sleeping and didn't step up at the same time so it looks like a Hamilton error but it's probably not. Our goal, we should be hitting shots from the edge of the box but we never seem to do so in any game. Did it tonight and we get the reward. Good reactions this time from Fagan-Walcott. Partick's general play in and out of possession has been very good - fast passing, decent movement, always probing when they have the ball and with a clear plan for every player when they don't have it. On the flip side, I have no idea what shape we're playing and why people seem to be in positions alien to them. McCann has played wide left plenty times so why is Holmes there? What is Benjamin?
  6. Initial thought was 4-2-3-1 with either Benjamin or Fagan-Walcott at right back, and McCann, Todd and Kane behind Holmes but I guess Todd could play RWB. Not sure how the rest of the team would work though. Would mean McCann or Kane playing midfield unless it was 3-4-3 which I can't really see but who knows?
  7. I guess we could have offered various bonuses that Raith won't have (playing bonus, goal bonus, keep us in the division bonus), but it sounds more like Murray trying to stir things up than anything of any note.
  8. Think all the supermarkets are doing that? Our local Tesco and Morrison's certainly have (the Tesco recently, the Morrison's I think has always been that way). It is annoying though, especially if you want to go to the toilet mid shop (especially pertinent with a toddler) or need to go to the kiosk and then have to barge your way past folk in the check out bit because it's now a one way entry system.
  9. Finally caught up with this after we got a free month of Paramount + Season 1: Excellent, I thought. 9 good to very good episodes and 1 I didn't enjoy. Lots of familiar Star Trek tropes (which continues into season 2) but with better character development than the other Nu-Trek shows. Liked: the crew, particularly Number 1, Ortegas, Chapel; the pacing of most episodes; the little nods to fan service without taking the piss; the submarine episodes (Momento Mori and the season finale). Didn't like: the fairy tale episode (I know that's also a Trek trope but I usually avoid those ones and despite Mount in particular hamming it up, I didn't enjoy it); how some of the crew - Uhura, M'bemba - are experts at absolutely everything; the Chapel-Spock stuff was over played and felt forced at times; the death of a character that I liked. Season 2: Pretty good but not as good as Season 1 IMO. No Pike at all in 2 of the first 3 episodes when he's the best character is wild. Setting up the Gorn threat at the end of the first episode didn't pay off until right at the end wasting any tension there. Obviously they tried a few things which met with varied reponses but it was only really the courtroom episode that didn't hit the mark for me. Liked: More of the crew getting things to do or being the main episode lead; the Lower Decks crossover was well done and had some good comedy moments; the musical episode wasn't terrible; the jeopardy in the finale. Disliked: the new engineer, played for comedy one presumes with the very strong accent and "quirky" hair and background; too little Anson Mount; too much Spock-Chapel again; the Number One plot from the end of Season 1 was completed in a rush with no consequences. All in all though a good show and I'm looking forward to season 3. Will have to get another free trial to watch of course. PS for those who don't know, the "Short Treks" stuff is on Paramount too. They reference it a little in the episodes of the Main show (Una's liking for Gilbert and Sullivan etc) and they did something similar in Discovery where in the finale to one season it had a few returnees from the Short Treks, so that might be worth watching.
  10. Not even going to watch this on TV, that's how bad it is. Probably. Ach, who am I kidding? I'll have it on in the background. 4-0 Thistle.
  11. 9. Never guess those computing ones right. Did think about pressing the right answer but talked myself out of it. Idiot.
  12. Couple of points about the issues mentioned above, without directly replying and tagging everyone... On the Hamburg trip - not only is the timing pretty terrible, I'm a bit confused about the while point of it all. Not only will Meggle know all about the stuff St Pauli do, a lot of the stuff that makes the German fan experience good are things like selling beer and bratwurst in the stands(which we can't do), having the 50%+1 rule for ownership (which ironically the German board have basically took us away from), cheap ticket prices (affordable due to a massive TV deal), etc. They talk about a museum (which we don't have the space, or the interest from the public for) and volunteers (which we already have a lot of). So what exactly was the point other than a wee jolly to a European game? On the scout stuff - it's strange that there have been some pretty disparaging comments both on here and on dotnet (yes, I know) about him being a failed council worker, or a glorified bib and cone collector, to "fannying about" during the warm ups and about his ill fitting track suit. I didn't know who the guy was or his name until someone posted it on the other site yet other people were posting stuff which suggested almost a personal dislike of the guy. Overall, the whole club is in a bit of a mess at the moment. But if we can get a couple of bodies in and pick up a surprise point in Glasgow then you never know, suddenly things maybe won't seem so bad.
  13. Aye, IIRC the microchip in the ball that they use to get the timings right for semiautomatic offsides is an Adidas proprietary technology.
  14. You can loan one player from another team in your division (e.g. Logan Chalmers Dundee Utd to Ayr, Brad McKay Falkirk to Kelty) but there seems to be conflicting information about this particular window. FWIW, I've just read the SPFL Rules section on Temporary Transfers and it doesn't seem to suggest there are extra caveats, despite what the papers say. So I was guilty of that too, because I was sure I'd read that somewhere too.
  15. Weird that so many Raith fans now want rid when he was the bees knees at the start of the season. Anyway, you can't loan players from the same division in this part of the window (doesn't need to be from the Premiership, if say Falkirk or Hamilton had someone they didn't need then it could be them).
  16. As someone (maybe SPFL Mediawatch?) said on Twitter, the SPFL really should do a retro day. I think the NFL and some other leagues do it, and obviously Man Utd played Man City in retro kits on the anniversary of the Munich disaster, but as a wee one off every few seasons that would be class.
  17. Saw there were multiple posts on this thread and got excited. Then read the posts. FFS. Hopefully get something sorted soon. Tough run of games coming up.
  18. Not me (although a 13 year old told me "f**k off, get out my fucking way, I'm not doing that, you can't do f**k all anyway, f**k off, specky c**t" a couple of weeks back) but my art teaching colleague got a right hand slap to the face recently as she tried to stop a fight. Wasn't an accidental "in the line of fire" one either, by the sounds of it. Pupils are fighting each other, fighting staff, verbally abusing staff and the answer seems to be to cut funding to dedicated support units. And to make classes "more interesting" so people don't get up and leave and go "lapping" (wandering round the school instead of being in class). Genius.
  19. Yes, he played on the left that night. Dundee burned through about three right backs trying to stop him. I missed the Kozma hat-trick plus two assists game v St Mirren so that Gibson performance is probably still the best individual performance from a Pars player I've seen.
  20. I always prefer the Netherlands kits when they have black shorts, but they've obviously worn white a lot too (and now oranje, since UEFA/FIFA decided that one colour kits were the way to go).
