The Partick Thistle thread
Jacky1990 replied to South Lanarkshire Jag's topic in Scottish Championship General Chatter
Would rather Thistle went full seaside and continued our on-field slide all the way to the Lowland League than even entertain the though of supporting Rangers 2.0. We might be shite fans. But we'll never be "let our club die then greet any time other team's fans mention it" shite. Bore off. -

Used them as a subby before. Use diamond drill bits to cut holes in concrete. -

Its absolutely astonishing he has a high ranking job at the SFA. Kind of hope he gets the United job just so he fucks off from his current role. -

Whats the general thoughts on Scott's potential? Future international? -
Not sure. But it certainly isnt because someone like Ewan Henderson isn't getting games against Morton and Alloa.

Croatia has a 10 team league. Switzerland has a 10 team league. Austria has a 12 team league. There are loads of reasons Scotland is struggling to produce quality youngsters. Claiming its solely down to the number of teams in the Premiership is bizarre at best.

Anyone got any idea where we've plucked the £2million owed from? My guess is that would be about 2-3 times our playing wage budget for next season. Surely there is no chance of us getting that?! -

Its for Ann Budge to attempt to save face so that her legacy isn't a team that were comfortably the worst in the SPFL Premiership this/last season. -
Surely they don't have a legal case at all? The decision has been taken following a vote by member clubs, which include Hearts, Thistle and Stranraer. Other than "aye, but I don't like the result", there's surely no basis at all for this.

Actually edited my original comment because I realised I might come across as a dig at you, which is wasn't intended to be! But aye, sadly it wont be the end of the matter.

May I remind you that this is Scottish football.

I imagine for the SPFL saying they're talking about Leagues 1 and 2 is like ticking the wee box that says you've read the terms and conditions. -

Why would any club vote for a reconstruction that would give them less money, especially during the financially uncertain times ahead due to covid? It doesn't make sense. The only reason reconstruction is anywhere near the agenda is because its Hearts that are getting relegated and not a Hamilton or a St Mirren. Have we been shafted by the situation? Yes, undoubtedly. But if there was a solution that wouldn't adversely impact any of the 42 teams financially or sportingly (44 if you include Kelty and Brora), then Scottish football would be doing that. There isn't. At some point at least some clubs are going to have to take the hit for this. As shite as it sounds for us, those clubs being the teams that finished bottom of the leagues is about as fair as you can get. We aren't in this position because of some backhanded politics by other SPFL club chairmen, we are in this position because we've been fucking dug meat on the park for the best part of 3 and a half years now. We have no one to blame but ourselves. -

Just read the club statement. As much as I obviously want what is best for Thistle, I think the statement reads a bit desperate and Rangersy. Also reads more like an interview transcript rather than a carefully prepared club statement. Whatever happens on Monday we need to get a way forward for Scottish football confirmed so clubs can start preparing. At this stage its surely doubtful that any reconstruction plans will get enough votes to pass through, whether that's the 14-10-10-10 or something else. -
Big fan of that away top. Seem to remember Nike making a black and white anti-racism top for the Netherlands v England 10-15 years ago, always though that was well smart.

Really like that, certainly something a bit different

You know the drill, pop your teams home and away strips for next season to give us all a gander.

Murray Park/Lennoxtown
Jacky1990 replied to SouthLanarkshireWhite's topic in Scottish Premiership General Chatter
Murray Park opened in 2001. Barry Ferguson and Stephen Hughes had made their debuts before that. David Bates and Tony Watt absolutely dont count as Old Firm developed players. Nonsense to suggest they do. -

Reading about the French decision just makes me think this is a non started since the clubs overwhelmingly voted for it. The word frivolous comes to mind. You might say there is plenty time until October, but there really isn't if it ends up in court. And what do we do in the meantime? If there is a chance we are a Championship team next year do we have to pay the players their Championship wages until its confirmed? Can we afford to do that one everyone comes off furlough? How do we target and sign players when we are in limbo about what division we'll be in? IMO its time to accept it, move on and use the sense of injustice to fuel us next season. -

To be honest, at this stage I'd rather we just get on with it. Surely the further Hearts take this, the more the delay in getting the football back up and running? If thats the case, surely that could be devastating for some clubs? There's also the money the SFA/SPFL would use to fight it, which would no doubt come at the expense of clubs somewhere along the line. -

I wonder how much of this is just Ann Budge wanting to make sure her legacy isnt: Took over in the Championship Reappointed Craig Levein Got relegated back down again. Won f**k all inbetween. Happy coincidence that it rhymes. Surely all this does is throw a spanner in the works on getting football back up and running again? -

I see Jonny Hayes is available as well.... What has them being out of contract have to do with it. Baring some funding miracle, none of those guys will be playing in League One next season?
