  1. What? Its hardly unusual for a club to insert a buy back clause or first option clause when selling young players with potential. However I do realise the idea of receiving any sort of transfer fee might be an alien concept to an Ayr fan.
  2. Excellent to get Rudden confirmed. Not a big fan of McCall brown nosing Rangers* though. Can only hope it is with a view to getting more players off them, hopefully Nathan Patterson on loan.
  3. If the Scottish media get a nomination for this it would surely be Joey Barton. Most pundits choice for POTY, only to be unceremoniously punted by January.
  4. Storey/Sammon - I remember being away for work and seeing the news they had both signed. Think we expected one of the two to sign and i would have been happy with either so was delighted to get both. The top 6 surely beckoned again with a strike force of Doolan, Sammon and Storey. Que relegation and Storey spending two years looking like he had never seen a football before. Adam Barton - remember reading an article about him while he was still at Preston (I think) about how he didnt really like football. Thought he'd get found out by the pace of the game up here. But ended up playing a big part in us getting top 6. Reverted to type in his second season but still better than expected.
  5. Photo or it didny happen, amma right?! But honestly man, take the rest of the day off. It doesn't matter if Weir thought we played in black and white and called us Patrick to his mates. He shared some of his wealth with our club, helping is to become debt free and revolutionising our youth system. That is all that matters. May he rest in peace. End of story.
  6. Was only pulling your chain. Both Rudden and DKD would be excellent signings. Plus both are young with decent sell on value if they do well.
  7. Any time I've seen him he has looked like a competition winner. IMO he'll start slipping down the leagues over the next few years and end up at a mid table League 1 / upper League 2 team.
  8. This bickering over Colin Weir's financial involvement post his death needs to stop. We are incredibly fortunate that a multi million pound lottery winner chose to invest in our club. Now that he has sadly passed away, there is surely no guarantee of any further investment from the Weirs. Until we hear otherwise, as a club I trust that we havent been solely relying on the Weirs to stay competitive and that we are financially fine to continue to move forward.
  9. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/50896434 "Rangers* announce partnership with Orange County" Thats like something out of Only An Excuse. An absolute parody of a club.
  10. Caldwell's the type of p***k that would talk about what good a job he did to get us into the top 10.
  11. Wait, do Rangers* officially call themselves the famous? Not just their fans being weirdos? Hahaha what a riddy
  12. McGregor tried to elbow him out the way and got flung out the way. Weesht
  13. Yes. He won the ball and his foot was on the ground without studs showing. Im not sure what part of the tackle made it a sending off.
  14. Footballs fucked if thats a sending off. Won the ball. Foot on the ground. Hard tackle? Yes. Dangerous? Bollocks.
  15. Stevie Mallan and Scott Allan are absolutely hopeless when Hibs dont have the ball. Bizarre to start both of them together in a game like this.
  16. And so the rebuild begins... https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/ayrshire/ayr-united-captain-ross-docherty-21120701
  17. Might be getting confused, but thought you couldn't talk to players out of contract in the summer until January? Would that not be tapping up?
  18. Limited it to players with 5 or more caps. Otherwise he would be straight in.
  19. Agree, always thought he was alright, but probably the weakest of our recent regular keepers. Fox only ever got in the squad as squad filler.
  20. Seeing the worst XI posts on the various league forums got me thinking of the amount of dross we've had in the national team over the paat 20 years or so. So heres my worst XI since the 98 World Cup. Tried to keep it to players with 5 caps or more to weed out the one cap wonders, but do as you please. GK - Rab Douglas: (19 caps/0 goals) we've been relatively lucky with goalkeepers recently with Gordon, McGregor, Marshall and Sullivan all being more than capable. Bit harsh on the big man who was always decent rather than good or bad, but big Rab is the weakest number one we've had. RB - Robbie Stockdale: (5 caps/0 goals) proof that not everyone that plays in the EPL is a world beater. Don't think he played a competitive game which, considering he was part of the early Berti years, tells its own story. Average player simply not good enough for international football. CB - Lee Wilkie: (11 caps/1 goal) big, lanky, possibly slightly above average SPL centre back who looked more like a basketball player. Was first choice for a period, despite looking totally unconvincing in every game. CB - Danny Wilson: (5 caps/1 goal) the great defensive hope. Looked great when breaking through at the dead club. Good defender and very comfortable on the ball, surely to be at the heart of the Scotland defence for the next decade. Moved to Liverpool 4 or 5 years too early. His second coming at Hearts got him back in the reckoning before chasing the money at the new club. An absolute waste. LB - Stephen Crainey: (12 caps/0 goals) never looked comfortable at international level. Awkward on the ball and too slow. Fair play to him for making a decent career for himself but he was no Gary Naysmith. RM - Paul Devlin: (10 caps/0 goals) does anyone remember any of Paul Devlin's 10 caps? Does Paul Devlin even remember? Further proof playing in the EPL doesnt make you a good international player. CM - Gareth Williams: (5 caps/0 goals) looked to have a good future after starring for Notts Forest before injury haulted any progress. Not his fault, but a sign of the dross the Berti had to work with. CM - Gary Caldwell: (55 caps/2 caps) hear me out. A very good centre back that would walk into the current team. However, seeing Craig Levein play him at centre mid, at home, in a must win game against Serbia boiled my piss. Suffered from the Charlie Mulgrew falicy of thinking he was a cultured defender because he took 4 or 5 touches before launching it forward. Had no right to be playing in midfield. But played there for a good few games over his career and was a man down on each occasion. Also an utter p***k of a man (nope, still not over his recent managerial spell). LM - Gary Teale: (13 caps/0 goals) worked hard and had pace. That was about it. Dont remember him doing anything of note even though he was part our most succrssful team recently. ST - Kevin Kyle: (10 caps/1 goal) him and Scott Dobie are, for me, the epitome of our team under Berti. A donkey of a footballer. ST - Chris Martin: (17 caps/3 goals) yes, there have been worse strikers, but no one has come close to pissing me off in a Scotland top more. Despite an impressive club record at Derby, I've never seen such a slow a professional player. Was also a big part of Strachan's "i know better than you" routine as he was keeping Griffiths out the team at the time. Thankfully the current management seem to have forgotten he exists. Manager - Craig Levein: Four. Six. Fucking. Zero.
