  1. As others have said, Thistle promoted an experienced player to manager twice in a row (Archibald and McNamara), both of who were fundamental in us winning promotion, staying there for 5 years and finishing top 6.
  2. After being convinced by his modest and humble interview during the week, I think it's safe to say we should give a huge amount of thanks to Gary Caldwell for laying the groundwork for today's comeback... NAT!!
  3. Just listening to the Caldwell interview on Sportsound. Tell you what, must have been some fucking presentation for that egotiarical twat to get through an interview for the managers job. Surely that interview is the final nail in his managerial coffin.
  4. Exactly this. Also, he's actually went back and counted, what a gimp. I imagine it was the equivalent of when someone who everyone dislikes at work leaves but you still feel compelled to write "best of luck" on the leaving cars.
  5. Naw he didny! In fact, its Caldwell. He definitely did. The mans lack of self awareness is staggering.
  6. Can someone summaries the main claims from Caldwell? Wont get a chance to listen anytime soon.
  7. Three on permanent bye byes - Hall, Harkins, De Vita Out on loan to a QP or the likes - Mansell
  8. Just needs to work til January when McCall can get rid of Caldwell's dross and bring in some functioning attacking footballers.
  9. McLaughlin Forrest Findlay Devlin Taylor Christie McTominay Armstrong Fraser Russell Shankland Forrest basically told to play as high as possible but help defensively if needed. Give Robertson the night off.
  10. Totally agree. Did Walter Smith not do similar and leave the shouting and balling to his assistant (McCoist)? I would imagine sitting up in the stands would give a better view to make any tactical tweaks at half time.
  11. A central defender who cant do contact defending and who thinks he's some beckenbaueresqe ball playing centre back cause he takes 4 or 5 touches before lumping it aimlessly up the pitch. I also cant trust a centre back in his mid 30s with a hairband.
  12. Having a conversation at work about lasts nights game, and one of the topics was Mikey Devlin's place in the team/squad. Not fishing, genuinely want to known out of curiousity, if you guys have everyone fit, does Devlin make your strongest XI? And would he get a game ahead of Considine? Cheers.
  13. I am not over 30, never mind 50! But i think it kind of sums up my thinking on him. Best weve had since ive been a fan but imo he is a good striker considered great because we've not really had any genuinely great strikers for decades.
  14. Totally agree. I'd class Doolan in the average to fairly good striker category who once or twice a season would go on superb runs of scoring, rather a great striker who would have a few barren runs each year. Still some boy though.
  15. Although rightfully a club legend, Kris Doolan wasnt/isnt that good a striker and is only fanned over so much because of his longevity, the abject standard of most of our other strikers the past decade and the fact he is an all round good guy. Unbelievable first touch mind.
  16. If it would have kept Miles "what the f**k is this round thing at my feet" Storey out the team, we'd have had more of a chance at least!
  17. McTominay. McGinn. McGregor. McLean. Fleck. Christie. Armstrong. There you go...7 players that are better CMs than Ryan Jack. Each playing at a higher level than him, or at least playing to a better standard at the same level in the case of McGregor and Christie. So clearly not bollocks.
  18. Jack might be having a good season with Rangers but he's about our 8th best CM right now. Would be shocked if he plays against Russia and theres shouldn't really be much need for him against San Marino.
  19. The defenders we are going to be facing against San Marino are significantly worse than defenders in the Scottish Championship. So, in theory, assuming he won't feature against Russia, Shankland has been selected to play against inferior opposition yet with far better quality teammates to provide service to him. If a chance falls to any of our currently fit strikers in the box, I'd far rather have the chance fall to Shankland rather than Brophy, McBurnie, Phillips, Russell, Burke or any of the other options we have available.
  20. I agree that he offers something different but im not sure I would have him as a starter ahead of McTominay, McGinn, McGregor, Christie, McLean or even Fleck based on current form. For me, he's a very good squad player and I'd certainly have him there, probably in place of Johnny Russell.
  21. My cut off for Scotland squad consideration is anyone who is, or potentially is, in the top 2 or 3 players in each position eligible for Scotland that are fit to play. Shankland absolutely falls in to this category, at least the potentially part, at this time. Especially since we are playing at home to San fucking Marino.
  22. Hold on, are there people seriously upset that a guy who has scored 49 goals in 53 games is in the squad because he happens to play in the Championship? Ross County and Livi (and sadly Thistle) have proven over the past couple of seasons that the difference between the bottom end of the Premiership and the Championship is minimal. Shankland has been phenomenal for two and a half years and would walk into any team in the top league barring two or three sides. As for as the hopefully tongue in cheek suggestions of Nathan Austin because "where do you draw the line?". Preferably at the point you are deemed that shite you have to drop out of professional football and work as a labourer.
