  1. Aye - but maybe Penicuik lost the league today at home today
  2. That has to be worst Burgh result in more than 20 years.
  3. Sorry FB. Just seen your question. I live 12 miles away, and it was bright sunshine for most of the day so I assume East Lothian was fairing better that further in land. Saying that, Had Haddington been at home, their match would have been off as top corner didn’t get the sun cause of the new OAPs Home so lot of frost still in ground. Looking to PTB to tell me if the 6-0 was being kind to Burgh and he is honest about our performances. With Linlithgow’s great run, I knew it was going to be tough, but that is an absolute rout! Linlithgow at moment must be Penicuik’s main rival for title chase - taking nothing away from Tranent, but they have stuttered a wee bit recently.
  4. League match 22 of the season for Musselburgh today. At home to Linlithgow; kick off 2.30pm. You have to go back to 27 May 15 for the last time The Rose beat The Burgh in a league match at Olivebank. Scorers that day were Stevie Thomson for Musselburgh and Roddy McLennan & Kevin Kelbie for Linlithgow. #montheburgh
  5. Huge 5 days coming up for Musselburgh Ath with two homes matches against 3rd and 2nd in League. Burgh play Linlithgow on Saturday, both coming into the match with long unbeaten runs behind them. A win puts Linlithgow in 2nd place in the league. A win for Musselburgh puts them 2 pts behind Tranent and 1 point behind Tranent. Then on Wednesday Burgh are home against Tranent. Two home wins could put the Burgh into 2nd place in the league, which a couple of month's ago, would be unthinkable! We can but wish and hope! #montheburgh
  6. A couple of interesting facts or two pieces of useless information coming up, depending on how your mood takes you! Musselburgh Ath have/has played 21 league matches this season. 1. A third of these have ended in draws. 2. All seven draws have ended in a scoreline of 2-2. A bonus thrown in as well; if Saturday’s league match away to Crossgates ends in a 2-2 draw (or even 0-0), that would mean that half of the eight draws would be against Fife teams. Interesting to note that the match, if the pitch is playable, kicks off at 1.00pm. This must be one of the earliest kick-offs Musselburgh Ath has been involved in, in many a year, if not the earliest (competitive match at least).
  7. Thread is better when he is not on
  8. Thank you PTB. Did wonder if the match would go ahead and maybe not if all that drainage work at the top corner of the ground didn’t go ahead in the summer time. 10 results without a loss is great going, but seeing the three teams above, it is a must for Burgh to continue with this. Didn’t realise Murrell went off injured. Hopefully he recovers soon. Hard match next Saturday.. Crossgates certainly no slouches; nine points behind Burgh, but with 2 matches in hand. Remains to be seen if the match will go ahead as don’t think the weather will be too kind next week. Keep the reports coming - really enjoying them.
  9. Not ideal weather for football today. Wonder how many matches will finish with the amount of rain in past couple of hours. I envisage a pitch resembling Olivebank a couple of seasons ago when we played HoB just prior to the COVID shutdown. Let’s see what happens, come 4.20pm this afternoon.
  10. Hope you enjoy the match PTB. Going on the away match, Burgh should win, but as you say, that away result against Tranent shows on the day any team can win in this league. Look forward to your wee write up after the match.
  11. Musselburgh are at home this weekend to The Swifts. The reverse fixture was nine weeks ago with Burgh winning 4-0. This was the start of a nine match unbeaten run, so tomorrow Burgh hope to take this to 10. Both teams won their last league matches, each winning 4-1. Last week Burgh beat Blackburn at home, while a fortnight ago, The Swifts were victors at home against Dunbar. Should be a good match to look forward to.
  12. HibbeeJibee - You are a great poster on here - in fact, one of the best. I have a question of you. Did you REALLY mean to name this page Premiere ?
  13. Six wins and two draws stretching back to 2 October for Burgh, so our home league match on Saturday will see an attempt at nine matches without loss as we face Blackburn. One of the wins, was a 3rd round East of Scotland cup tie, beating Kennoway Hearts 2-0 at Olivebank. The seven league matches, starting away to The Swifts at beginning of October has seen Musselburgh pick up 17 pts out of 21 pts, to keep us secure, at moment in 4th place in the Premier League.
  14. He certainly is a haver, sorry wafer, or both! To even attempt to shoot from there shows initiative and how many players would hit the ball so high and inside the top right of the goals. Quality strike/effort.
  15. Someone mentioned the same size of crowd as you ( 800+) and Tranent only has 3 sides of park where fans can stand. However, when you get a large crowd, it can be very hard to confidently estimate the crowd. Think the guy with the 1200 figure walked round the park, where figure should be easier to count. Not sure that will be beaten this season, except perhaps when we are at play-offs stage.
  16. Whitehill will be wanting to get that big midweek loss out of the way by getting a win tomorrow. I would love Whitehill to remain in the Premier League next season, but sentiment has to be put on the back burner this weekend. This is a match that Musselburgh should be winning so hopefully 3pts in the bag for the Burgh come 5pm tomorrow evening.
  17. Think you are wrong (if you are saying Linlithgow didn’t get beat 3-1 by Penicuik in the league). All early season matches were league games. If you are not referring to the 3-1 match on 7 August; my apologies.
  18. At that point, you made up my mind to check. In the league, it was in season 2012-13, when Camelon beat Burgh home and away. 2-1 at Camelon in Sept 12, then 3-2 at Olivebank on 24 April 2013. Kelbie scored in both matches. But last time you beat us was 2nd round of the East of Scotland on 21 December 13, when once again Kelbie got amongst the goals.
  19. You are correct Alan. Perhaps with the exception of this year, Camelon are normally a difficult side for most teams to beat, but I can’t remember the last time you won against us. Generally always a good match for Burgh fans to watch.
  20. You could make a change either up front or back 3 if you go with a midfield of 3. Are we playing a diamond shape this year? Didn’t know Aaron wasn’t Mach fit, but why not get him on at the start? Give him 30mins or 1st half. We want to be winning matches or scoring early on with best format than perhaps bringing on a guy late in the match. Also, what’s happening with Jackie Myles. We also have a surplus of midfielders, but Jackie gets very little time now. If I was him, I’d be saying get my photo off the front page if I’m only good enough for that.
  21. Burgh have drawn 5 out of 8 matches away from home, more. Than any other team in Premier League. We have another 2 away matches on the bounce against 18th and 15th; Whitehill and Camelon respectively. Neither of these teams have drawn any league matches this season so Musselburgh have to get rid of the draw-King tabs and win both matches. Perhaps, after coming off the bench in last 2 matches and scoring both, our loan player from Spartans, Aaron Murrell should be on from the start to spearhead our forward line.
  22. Now to move over to the Penicuik thread. Oh wait.... Certainly the team to beat at the moment and a crucial match next weekend with Tranent hosting a Penicuik. A win is nearly a must for the Belters, given a win for Penicuik would move them 4 pts clear with 2 matches in hand. Linlithgow will also like a Tranent win given, they are probably the only other team with a chance of catching the top 2.
  23. Not sure if it at same levels as previous season(s) due to COVID but the wee bar is open on match days. I’m sure PTB will advise when he is next on.
