  1. Was the Blackburn match meant to be sooner? I can’t remember the original fixture list and I know that Camelon is rearranged from the earlier abandoned match. Also, was the ground pretty cut up after Saturday’s match ?
  2. At start of season, if you were to predict results of each match you would pick 2 wins and perhaps 2 draws or maybe 3 wins and a loss? At start of season, loss if, picked would have been away to HoB. Now, you realistically could predict 3 wins and a draw/loss . One of these wins would now be away at HoB given their results this season. But that match could be the hardest given the home loss earlier in the season. The draw/loss would be Camelon, but how many times do we get beat from them - seldom. If we did get 4 wins, as it stands, I don’t think I would be surprised. All depends on the day.
  3. I think The Swifts result at Tranent shows that there are no matches you can confidently predict the result. You mention the next 4 matches, where Burgh could/should expect to get a maximum of 12 points from them. However, although HoB has only won 3 league matches this season, one was at Olivebank. We also drew at Blackburn, so certainly not a gimme at Olivebank. Camelon have had a very up/down season, but have anew manager and also won at weekend. We have had the upper hand in recent matches against them, but generally close matches. Finally, we beat Whitehill last season, with two late goals in Roswell, but again they seem to be getting better in recent matches. Only the Blackburn match is at home, the other three away. All are winnable but out of seven away League matches, Burgh has drawn four of them. Any reason to be positive for 4 wins? Not sure if the above reflects this but I would certainly be disappointed if we did not win at least 3 of them.
  4. Do you think the number / calibre of signings earlier on this season, from Camelon has perhaps backfired for Bo'ness? Genuine question, as although I did not think Bo'ness would necessarily win the Lowland League, I thought your team would have been much higher up the league than were Bo'ness sits at the moment. Is it that teams in the Lowland League are better than the club anticipated or are the news signings as well as existing players just not good enough to be in the top half of the league? I know you are but 1 of a supporter on this forum, but it would be good to know of your thoughts sof the season so far. Cheers
  5. Cheers. Getting carried away with all my numbers! Yip, only two matches in hand with Tranent. Still think my sentiment is correct though. In most seasons, all teams have dip in form so all still to play for at the moment.
  6. A few weeks ago, some people were saying it was a two-horse race for the Premier League title. Last 6 matches for current top 4; Linlithgow 18pts from 18 Penicuik 15pts from 18 Musselburgh 13pts from 18 Tranent 11pts from 18 Particularly with Linlithgow having 2 matches in hand over the top 2; still plenty of chances for top 2 now to be caught.
  7. Musselburgh v Broxburn match is on today, following pitch inspection. I did bootcamp this morning about 3 miles up the road, at Newcraighall. Didn’t run on the pitches there, rather round them. But the underfoot conditions were dreadful! Perhaps Olivebank’s drainage is much better, particularly the sterling work a number of guys did with a corner of the pitch at the Olivebank road side of the ground. Remains to be seen whether match will be played for full 90 mins, but good luck to the boys today. Definitely a winnable match, having watched Broxburn earlier in the season at Dunbar. Look forward to PTBs commented later today on how the match went. Also, great that a number of supporters will be able to stay relatively dry under the temporary covering behind the goals at Market Street end of the ground.
  8. So is the decider tomorrow when the loser has to apologise very rarely known PTB to be wrong with his comments
  9. Two pitch inspections last night in the Scottish Premiership before matches took place. I fear for groundskeepers health in the next few days worrying how their pitches will fair if matches do go ahead this weekend
  10. Clearly you have a sh1t name when your posts are never enthusiastic about anything other than rubbishing a particular team or manager connected to the Lowland League. Clearly you are just on the rise wanting to get reactions, when some of your questions border on the ridiculous. ‘Are you happy ... and 2nd round Scottish exit’. Berwick should be getting beat from Stirling, given they are in a lower league and Stirling 2nd top of their division’. ’I clearly don’t have figures on what the club spend’, but clearly keep on spouting about how much money they are spending’. Have a Kit-kat; have a break.........
  11. Perhaps it is neutral as who ever wins has a great chance to get into the Scottish Cup preliminarily rounds next season; again, if the same rules apply, where the winners of the cup have a play-off with South of Scotland cup winners to gain that privilege. Not sure how West of Scotland set up affects this?
  12. Not sure the full match report will return. When I attend matches this season, just good to watch games without any note taking. My thoughts only as I’ve seen comments to the contrary elsewhere; £8 is too much for us to charge, but that is the club’s decision and they are entitled to do as they think best for them.
  13. Last time the Alex Jack Cup was contested, the final between Musselburgh and Oakley was played at a neutral venue; New Victoria Park, Newtongrange. From what you say, maybe that has changed this time around?
  14. Thank you as always PTB for your comments after each match. Like how you don’t gloss over matters and actually say when the team are not at their best. Good that we remain in a cup competition. Two points to note. Using one of your words; there was a lacklustre response by Mathu after both his goals and the response from his teammates when congratulating him. The crowds seem to be down in a number of recent matches. Maybe today was because of Siny’s Wedding, though I wouldn’t imagine that too many fans were there for whole ceremony?
  15. I stand to be corrected, but I can’t remember too many Burgh players ‘re-signing’ midway through a season, for the next season too? Shows the commitment of Liam, who progressed from the U20s two seasons ago and the most successful (so far), of his other three team-mates who did the same that year. Well done Liam
  16. Haddington for me. A comfortable 4-1 win and based on that match, Haddington would appear to be on track for a spot in the Premier League next season. Play some good attractive football, with players competing for every ball. Also, the crowd was around 150 more than the Nitten match. So was it a couple of the young guys that stayed out of the pub for some extra homework, or two of the older players who know their priorities with opting to watch the opposition?
  17. Another good home crowd today at Haddington. Fact that over 300 in attendance probably due to top 2 sides in Conference A meeting for 1st time this season and expecting a close match. In truth, the 4-1 win should have been more. Haddington totally dominated 1st half, scoring 3 goals. In 2nd half, Leith staged a mini revival getting back to 3-1 and had a couple of to get a second. But Haddington re-asserted control of the match and could have easily scored another 3; albeit only a solitary goal coming near to the end of the match. Hopefully Haddington can make it a cup double next week, when they travel to face Brechin in the Scottish Cup 2nd round.
  18. Thank you for this PTB - hopefully it is well attended, as it has been when previous forums took place. Great opportunity to hear at first hand what position the club is in and to be able to ask questions of the committee, manager and players at first hand. Idle weekend for Musselburgh since Tyecastle knocked us out in the first round of the South Challenge Cup. Still, it may give fans an opportunity to watch two rivals ; Nitten V Tranent play in the cup, or an equally intreging match being the two pacesetters in Conference A go head to head for the first time this season: Haddington v Leith. Think the latter will be my match of the day.
  19. Glad to hear that. Burgh normally very reliant in passing information like this out
  20. Great post Pete PTB is usually very astute in his thoughts of each match, so it’s good someone else comes on her and acknowledges his efforts. Not seen much of Burgh this season, but based on previous knowledge I totally agree with you when Burgh players approach the 18 yard box. Sounds like Joe Hamil has same thought on match management, as his previous incumbent, Geordie. Both wanted team to play silky football / passing game from front to back. As said recently, when it works, it’s a joy, but it does not always and often breaks down. Quite a few times it’s in and around the opponents box, and you think why not take a chance. In a crowded box or when rain has fallen, if a shot is hit at distance, if it doesn’t hit the target, good chance the ball could ricochet and Burgh could be there to fed off rebound. At least a few times this season, Bradley White is being more adventurous / taking chances, which can lead to goals, as we saw recently.
  21. Cheers for the report and clip showing the goal PTB
  22. A Burgh supporter on twitter referred the move/goal as a thing of beauty on twitter. Good movement from one wing to another particularly the last couple of plays before Dean knocked the ball in. Also heard that Jo and Calum were both on form running up and down the left/right wings assisting in creating a number of chances on the day.
  23. Regardless that Nitten are at the foot of the Premier league, today’s match will be anything but easy. No wins in the league yet for the away side, this season, but they come seeking their 3rd league win in a row at Olivebank. Burgh need to be ready for a tough afternoon, but every confidence of the team getting all three points
