  1. HoB have 13pts from last 5 matches; while WW lost 4 and won the other of their last 5. Maybe you are right and my arithmetic is lacking, but while HoB have the players who look like escaping relegation, it does not look as if same can e said of WW. Definitely want WW to stay up by the way
  2. I if you are a WW supporter, you have been worried all season about retaining your position as a Premier League Club in 2022-23. After today’s result, any lingering hopes must surely have got. Five matches ago, HoB had 22pts while WW had 15pts. Now HoB are on 25 and WW on 18. Huge turnaround and it looks like HoB now have the momentum to climb higher than their current position of 14th. This means, if WW are to climb out of bottom 4. They have to make up at least 11 points on LTHV and hoping other teams lose all matches or draw against other teams in current relegation places. With only a max of 21 remaining, prospects are sadly bleak for our Midlothian neighbours.
  3. I have had many a Barney with other posters on P&B. Certainly this year I am trying to avoid these. Last couple of years (before this season) I felt as if I was the sole representative on the Musselburgh thread, so at times felt a duty to respond if a question was asked or if someone came on and made a statement I didn’t agree with. Not my job / right, but felt I should / needed to do. Luckily, for me, there is a new poster in town, so although I still regularly partake, I at least have an ally and someone who is now the ‘Lead poster’ on the Burgh page. I am no friend of Alan C f - but I think a couple of guys on this thread need to draw breath before spouting crap on their own forum. Two points if I may; 1. Since when was a supporter / non-supporter not allowed to come on and make comment on someone/team’s thread? Pretty boring if it is only own-supporters who come on, unless you are fans of a couple of clubs on here, where their own fans argue amongst themselves. 2. You say Alan has posted 30 times? So? I assume you read some or all, so you will know full well why so many posts have come from him. Alan is purely responding to posts about him or his club which have mainly been raised by Linlithgow fans - many of who know they are going to get a response back.
  4. Cheers Specky. I get it; this is the Linlithgow Rose page and you guys have every right to question posts if you disagree with other poster(s). However, I see the message that guy posted has been removed, which is good. But he was out of order and anyone who knows him from your club needs to have a loud word in his ear.
  5. Love this I agree and think over the past 15-20 years we have shown this to be true. However, Tranent are going in the right direction to claim this status and it is up to Musselburgh to bounce back quickly.
  6. I like the honesty PTB! Things certainly don’t look on the bright side at the moment at Olivebank, but what we can’t forget is that Musselburgh are still 4th in the league, albeit that we have played most games in the league. Rather be 4th top at the moment than 4th bottom. This should allow time to work out what our issues are and make sure these are sorted come start of next season.
  7. Not the first time Tranent has had an U20s side in the Development League. They had a team in 1st season that clubs moved over from Juniors to EoS.
  8. I am maybe wrong, but when we were still in the Juniors - thinking of coming over to the EoS set up, Musselburgh had an open night for fans to come and listen to/speak to the Chair of the club. I am sure it was said if we were ambitious and wanted to move up the leagues, it was mandatory to have an U20s side associated with main club. It appeared that most clubs coming over took up this option, one way or the other. I know Tranent and Haddington had U20s in the 1st season, though Tranent were kicked out of the U20 league while Haddington disbanded. With a poster saying there are 10 or so clubs without U20s teams,, maybe this is not the case. I love seeing U20s from any/all clubs getting a chance to play in the main team and try and make an effort to applaud any club who doses involve the younger guys.
  9. So just chuck the U20s league in the bin? Stupid answer you give. Don’t have to sit on bench but surely they will be pleased to be considered. Also gets them in to know some of the main team and get involved with pre-match warm ups and training set ups. The guys in the U20s will be ambitious and will want any chance to show they are worthy of a place in the Saturday squad. First season, Musselburgh signed 4 of the under20s. All given small amounts of match time on Saturdays which grew as season went on. Two still at a Burgh, other two moved on with other EoS Premier sides. Our goalie was given a chance last year as a sub in Wick, Scottish Cup tie. Was brought in as no. 2 keeper this season, but is now no.1.
  10. If that’s the case, wonder why it took till this afternoon to be announced. I know fans living in Musselburgh will be pleased for Bradley but gutted for themselves and the club. Was only last year Bradley was touted as being a long stay at Burgh and future captain for the club. PTB; Do you know if Bradley was looking for a move or did this come as a surprise to him?
  11. It would be interesting to see who do not want to re-sign, but if their thoughts are not with the club, then perhaps use them sparingly. However, if you don't want to be with the club, should you not be trying to excel at this time to show potential bidders how good you are? We have the nucleus of a good team - a mixture between young and not so young players and if I was the management and your description of the match is accurate (no doubts about your honesty PTB), I would be asking at training what the issue is and if players don't want to play for Burgh, then show their hands. At one point in the match, all 4 forwards were playing so it is not as if the fire-power wasn't there to have more than one effort on target. Normally we also see Bradley taking chances from afar, though he might have been playing to deep given the initial line up on twitter. If there is a positive in all this, Burgh are in 4th place, out of 18 clubs, yet we (you and I anyway), are still having misgivings about the performances week-in week-out. Maybe, I am expecting too much, maybe any players we read this might think that I should shut up as they are trying their best? Final word just now; if Jackie Myles is still able to come on as a sub, why does he seem to be the only player who is never considered in Burgh's starting line up this season. Granted, he may not be the player he was 5-6 years ago, but you want a bit bottle in the midfield area and he would be that person. Having him and Michael Moffat in the line up these past few seasons has been pleaseing to see. Both players who always put in 100% commitment, whether they were playing well or not. For me, Burgh are certainly poorer this season for either/both these players not being on the part come 2:30pm. Michael is away now but we haven't got any kind of a replacement for him. Fingers crossed, hopefully next year.
  12. Wasn’t offended NB - all good. I haven’t been waxing lyrically about my team this year and definitely think we have been very hit and miss all season. Were the only league team until today to have beaten Penicuik, but then we do purely against bottom three teams. No team has a right to win, but when you beat teams 4-0 and 3-0 away from home, you kind of think you will win at home too, but.... Nice to see Burgh twitter praise Whitehill just now about the way they left the dressing room after the match
  13. Thought you were better than that NB; but I will give you that since your team won. You will note I said Should win, not will win, as Whitehill are the 3rd team in the bottom 3, at time of match, who have beat Musselburgh; two of them at Olivebank. Burgh were 4th this morning and I think WW were bottom having lost 7 of their last 8 league matches, so I didn’t say anything most others would have agreed with. However, great result for your team and I hope WW and Nitten climb the table and avoid relegation.
  14. Half time Penicuik 0-2 Tranent. If Tranent are still up at full time, it will be a great result for them, inflicting only Penicuik's 2nd loss of season in league and keep the title challenge a three way race.
  15. Musselburgh should be good enough to get a win at home today against Whitehill. Think that we should already be thinking about next season, where league is concerned, even if we want to remain in top 5, come end of season. Burgh should at least be giving match time to players in the Under 20s who could make the step up to main team next season. By that I mean give guys 2 or 3 matches in a row in starting line up and not bringing them on for last 15 mins of the game. Then they have the opportunity to prove, if they can, that they are worthy of such a position.
  16. Probably Tranent’s most important match of the season away to Penicuik. Not even thinking about Linlithgow, should Tranent lose today they will be playing Premier league football again next season. Given where Penicuik would be with a win, they wouldn’t lose 11 points in their remaining 12 matches (at same time as Tranent having to win all their last 13 matches).
  17. The guy on twitter who does all the crowd stats for EoS has the following numbers, either directly from the clubs or from someone who normally responds to him on twitter. Easthouses 45 Penicuik 294 Musselburgh 367 Blackburn 151 Haddington 287 Leith - not yet detailed
  18. Losing 4 league matches ( two against teams higher up than we are) have killed off any chances for Burgh this season as well as drawing 8 matches out of 23 - the joint top of clubs in this division. Musselburgh's aim has to be to finish in the top 4 in the Premier League this year and then strengthen the squad in time for start of next season, to realistically challenge for top spot in 2022-23. Hard match away to Newtongrange on Saturday but think we have won previous two league matched at New Victoria Park.
  19. Leith close gap - albeit having played one more game than Haddington. A good ding-dong battle between the top two teams, who have still to play each other home/away in League.
  20. Before the Linlithgow match the Ave crowd for Broxburn’s home League matches was 172. If 500 attended last night, Ave would go up to 202.
  21. Its like a lovers tiff each time you come onto the Linlithgow Forum Alan
  22. Question for you FB - Has there been a number of new players at Linlithgow since Ferguson left, or is it purely the way the players have rallied with Herd at the helm? Huge change of fortune since the change of management.
  23. Thank you PTB Looking outside and although a few miles from Olivebank - seems to be a fine morning so hope no issues for tonight's match against Tranent. Hopefully there will be a big crowd to support both Musselburgh and Tranent in their last match of 2021. Traanent were the dominent team in the first fixture of the season and Musselburgh will have to play much better as they try and avenge the 0-3 loss this time around. Hope its a good match for all. A Burgh win gets them to within 2 points of Tranent in 3rd place of the Premier League. A win for Tranent will see them back in 2nd place, 3 pts behind leaders Penicuik and one ahead of Linlithgow. The title rests between the top 3 teams for the remaining matches of this season. Regardless of this, Burgh have the players to complete and win tonight's match, so here's hoping for a home win for the boys in blue.
  24. Cheers UST. Good bit of coverage for fans not able to get to Olivebank yesterday
  25. Well done Kayem Love seeing your photos. You and the ladies from Blackburn and Musselburgh do great service for East of Scotland fans. All best for the festive season and look forward to seeing more of your action shots in the new year.
