  1. Wouldn’t say that Haddington’s win at home to Dunbar was a shock. Haddington now 12 matches undefeated this season, while Dunbar won 4 out of 11 in Premier League.
  2. Following the same situation a couple of days ago with Fauldhouse, it is quite worrying.
  3. First of all, I don’t disagree with anything you say in your post. Second of all, I don’t think you will argue with me in that I am opinionated in my views. People will either like that or think I am an obnoxious p***k at times. I don’t mean to be the 2nd but that’s where it is. In Mathu King, Musselburgh, in my opinion have the greatest player in our level of football over the last 10+ years, taking all this into account. Even now, Mathu is still one of the best forward players in the league and rarely gets beat in high ball challenges. I just think the guy needs help at the moment in the Burgh front line., though I would have him starting in all matches if his legs/body allows this. Darren D is a brilliant goalscorer, but he has had a number of injuries over the past 2+ Covid-seasons and again this season. Dean B was brought in due to his goal scoring while at Dunbar. Unfortunately, this hasn’t yet been reciprocated at Musselburgh, though I appreciate it is early doors given the reduced 2020-21 season. Jordan S had a phenomenal season, I think in 2019-20 with Tynecastle, hence the moves to Bonnyrigg, then Tranent and now Musselburgh. With only 2-3 games so far, obviously can’t say how his scoring proficiency will pan out this season. Conor T is not a forward, in my view. Burgh currently sit 5th in the Premier league table. However, if you look at the scoring charts, Burgh are 13th in league and none of the 4 forwards are anywhere near top of your scoring charts, at the moment. Love my team, but still think we need either a poacher in our team who is going to grab goals or a burley forward who can complement Mathu & any other forwards in the team. On the issue of captain, once Mathu retires, I think that the next player who should captain the team should be mouthy AND be a defender, where they see far more of the flow of the match as opposed to a midfielder or a forward. Cheers Faceman
  4. That is actually quite incredible PTB and as always you are correct - and you can add another, if you count Binnie, the goalkeeping coach as the 3rd keeper. I will need to watch and would not say who to leave out, but we definitely need another forward in the squad - and not just to make up the numbers. We have nine midfielders (11 if you add two defenders who can play in either position). That is where you could reduce the number(s). Anyway, back to Cup business on Saturday. I would definitely give some of the fringe players a run out against Tynecastle. No point in such a huge squad if you don’t give all guys a chance to show the manager of their worth.
  5. Do you think they are senile like. Am sure the officials won’t have forgotten so quickly.
  6. Derby day in the East Pf Scotland leagues this weekend. Burgh wanted to inflict defeat to the league leaders for 2nd time in 4 days, having already beating Penicuik in Midweek. Tranent though, wanted the 3 points to ensure that stayed on top, given their league placing was due to a better goal difference of 1. At the end of the match, it was plain to see why Tranent had only lost one match this season as they dominated th3 match for the full 90 minutes. Great local rivalry, and bragging rights so far, this season go to the bBelters. However, a loveLy touch at the start of the match. This is Mathu King’s testimonial season, postponed since 2019-20, due to COVID19. Tranent Captain, Shaun Rutherford, presented Mathu, the Burgh captain, with a present, at the start of the match, which I believe was a bottle of champagne, in a presentation box. Brilliant Gesture. Thank you Tranent!
  7. Thank you for that. Good to see Michael back at no.1. Having been replaced by Mark 2-3 seasons ago, his patience, with staying at Bonnyrigg seems to have been rewarded
  8. What today’s match showed today is that at least 1 forward, if not 2 is a must for Musselburgh and just as important a holding midfielder, the likes Burgh have not had since Darren Smith back in 2014-15. Sad to say but Burgh were lucky to only lose 3-0. The U20 keeper, Ross McRae made a number of good saves to keep the score line ‘respectable’. It also looked as if the best player Musselburgh has ever had; Mathu King, was playing in his 1st match for the team. He, like most of the Burgh fans, was hugely frustrated at the lack of passes played to him. It was as if his teammates weren’t sure if Mathu could be trusted with the ball. The whole of Olivebank must have got a huge lift with the 1-0 midweek home win against Penicuik four days ago. Chalk n cheese today as Tranent never gave Burgh a chance.
  9. Cheers PTB / MM Always enjoy your thoughts. I favour a back 3 as well. However for tomorrow’s match, I would either have a back 4, or if it is a back 3, that the 2 wing halves ensure they are quick at getting back into defence. Have seen Tranent twice this season and they are nippy at moving up the park, either straight through the middle, or equally at home running up either wing, especially on left hand side. Hard match, but after beating Jeanfield and Penicuik this season, albeit at home, Musselburgh has shown on their day they can be a match for any team in the league.
  10. Good read PTB; thank you. Do you think there will be any changes in tomorrow’s line up. Will the new guy, Tanner keep his place? Do you think Conor cemented his return to the midfield, or will Fiddler return? At the start of last year’s cancelled season, there was a thought that Mathu would be Burgh’s 12th man. However, even now, it seems you can’t keep our greatest ever player out of the starting line up, when he is fit. Do you see this continuing? Lets see what the main man the main man PTB thinks?
  11. Burgh’s last two opponents have been Irvine Meadow and Penicuik. Yet, tomorrow’s match could be the toughest test of the past 8 days- away to new league leaders, Tranent. At this stage, the likeliest outcome for Premier League Champions is either Penicuik or Tranent. Having won against the Miidlothian team, in midweek, Burgh will be looking to do the double tomorrow.
  12. Every chance that tomorrow’s match between Tranent and Musselburgh could host the biggest attendance figures of the Premier League season, so far.
  13. To quote PTB; huge game tonight, and a huge win, inflicting Penicuik’s 1st loss of any points this season, after winning 1-0 at home. Will say no more and look forward to PTB’s thoughts when he sober’s up from his adrenaline rush!
  14. Wasn’t there PTB, so good to hear from someone who was. Interesting what you say about decisions made by the officials. I know when I’m at matches how peed off you can be if the ref or lines-person gives an incorrect decision. However, match is 90 mins and overall players have to take main share of responsibility if they get beat. I hear what you say about back 3 v a 4-4-2. I think a back 3 is best, as long as wing-halfs’ come back quickly when opposition are in attack. But on Saturday, not sure how we could have played a back three. We released Brad and Liam Reid, I assume was unavailable. So only Jono and Page were natural centre backs (though Dec would have fit the bill to make up the three). Two defeats in a row, so disappointed to hear what you say about belief of players, particularly with Penicuik and Tranent the next two opponents. Given so few new personnel at the club, surprising about lack of belief as most players should know each other’s games inside out. Definitely need all guys to pull together starting from tomorrow night.
  15. Broxburn sit in 3rd place in the Premier League at the moment, yet Dunbar have already beaten them twice this season; once in the league and in Saturday's Scottish Cup tie. Would be good if some Dunbar supporters came on to this page and give their thoughts on how this season is going for them.
  16. Will wait and see what the official crowd is for Saturday's match at Dunbar v Broxburn, but a quick count, I got around 330. Lots of young kids there, either in a group or with older persons, which is fabulous to see. Based on this and the Dunbar v Musselburgh crowd, agree with what you say
  17. Thought I saw that Alasdair Adams signed for Bonnryigg at start of season, so I assumed he’d joined as Mark Weir had left the club? So, is Ally injured or has he left the club. Also see Andrews got man of the match award yesterday. Great effort, after being reserve to Weir in recent times.
  18. What a twat. A wee red cause I made your bottom lip tremble! You diss the ‘effects’ of a guy who stepped in to give stats that fans in the Lowland + EoS leagues want and look forward to. If you think it is too simple; simply move on rather than give voice on something that frankly isn’t worth your efforts. Guys who provide info like this, in their own time should be welcomed. Look forward to your next dot
  19. Huge match today, away to Irvine Meadow in the preliminary round of Scottish Cup. Burgh should go with no fear. Currently 8th in league with 1 loss out of 8 matches in league and that was at home. Meadow are 7th in WoS league with 2 losses out of 9 matches in league; both at home. Same stage last year, Burgh beat Penicuik away. Fingers crossed for same outcome this afternoon
  20. Aye, just groundhop elsewhere. Am sure someone else will like your dour chat.
  21. Great to see the number of fans going to watch Haddington this season. Certainly the biggest crowds I’ve seen in a while at Millfield!
  22. Glad to see the comedians are still in town as the Edinburgh Festival nears the end Basic.... what do you want. Crowds at start of match; half time & full time, to get the the optimum times that grounds are at the fullest I appreciate you saying that it is excellent work, as the guy is putting a lot of work in this season, including scores / scorers for each match too
  23. Certainly wouldn’t criticise the big man! One of his best features, for me, was coming on regularly to P&B. We all knew who he was and I for one, liked his honesty. I miss him around this scene
  24. In the scheme of things, the Manager at Fauldhouse did not last that long in his post. I do wonder if the powers at be at the club regret not coming over to the EoS when the main body of teams came over three seasons ago. Who knows if they would have settled better and had a place in the Premier League right now?
  25. Do you think that over the past few years Hunter has been Bo'ness' biggest player asset youve had? Consistently played well any time I saw him against Musselburgh and who wouldn't want a guy like him shoring up their defence and also a powerhouse up the other end at corners, free kicks etc.
