  1. You surely arenae a Linlithgow supporter? Granted, with the 6 matches remaining, it will be a tall order for The Rose to win the league. But they surely still have a chance. Two matches against Tranent and one against Penicuik - the only 2 other teams that can win league apart from Linlithgow. Win all three and who knows... I was talking with a Premier league player today and he said Linlithgow were clearly the best team his side had playEd against this season.
  2. So you proved my point All teams you detail, asper my comments have a great chance of winning their respective league. You look no further than Syngenta who were absolute ( close to)certs to win Conference X. But wetting their pants ability has allowed to steal a march. Who xan say if the same may happen now to Bo'ness given they are in a few cups still. I could yell you who will win each league but you or someone else may come back with its not quite that simple .....
  3. Apart from the supporters of the 3 clubs involved, it is great at this time of season that it is this close and literally all 3 could win the league. Indeed Conference A has two teams; Conference B has three teams and Conference X has four teams all with great shouts of winning their respective leagues. My only hope is that whoever finishes on top, wins the 3 team play off to gain promotion to the Lowland League. Shabby that winners of league could remain there next season due to the Lowland league’s shocking vote during the week.
  4. Well said NB. Even on that basis, I hope Penicuik go on to win the league. Before it really didn’t bother me who won the league. In the first season that was stopped by COVID (2019-20), Jeanfield were by far the best team that played Musselburgh, home and away. Like you I was very surprised at their slow start this season in league. But it looks like that form, from a couple of seasons ago has been re-discovered.
  5. Honest as usual PTB - thank you. Saw a tweet from HWU saying they deserved the win and in effect we had Ross McCrae to thank for getting the draw. How was the crowd today - did the reduced entry fee boost numbers at Olivebank?
  6. Certainly would not ask you to name names PTB and respect your thoughts here. Football chat is all about opinion. General time dictates if opinions are right/wrong. I know lots of people don’t agree with me and think I am all waffle, but I can live with that. Wasn’t at the match today, indeed not at any match. In past 20 years, I have seen least amount of football than previously. A bit of a transition year in more ways than one which I will stick to. Hopefully address this in 2022-23. A disappointing result. Burgh should be winning these matches, though I see Burgh played with 10 men in 2nd half. What I would say though is Burgh players have to take responsibility for themselves once the ref blows for match to start. Rightly or wrongly, manager will get boot for poor results. Players may agree/disagree with Manager’s team picks or tactics, but they have a voice which they should air, if not happy and can let their feet/heads do the talking during each 90 mins of match.
  7. Very disappointing for a couple of couple of Burgh fans to think we could be relegated PTB. As I said before, we had a disappointing serious of events at start of season on the managerial front, then with Liam Burns, who seemed a great coach, left early in season. But, we had the same squad as pervious season and so a squad who should compete at top of league. Moving on we’ve lost 4 keys players, but despite a ‘bad season’ never out of top 5/6. Certainly vital for next season we need to hit the ground running and I hope Joe already has incoming players in-sight for pre-season. The league cup group football comes at good time for Burgh. Realistically we SHOULD win all 4 matches, though but all accounts, the match against Haddington will decide who tops group.
  8. Wonder if the word missing after astonishing(ly) is Sh1te or Brilliant or maybe both apply depending on who reads the trail of posts. I’ll keep my thoughts to myself but respond as I do, on occasion, like a wee chat on P&B. It is astonishing that Tranent have used 3 more players this season than Musselburgh. I would hazard a guess, I think, backed up by some posts I have seen on twitter that had Tranent used less players (given how good their results were for most of the season), they would be top of league right now. If you have a winning side, why change it, except for cup matches. I don’t know answer, but how many players have Tranent bought pre-season and during the season. It seems a lot to me, but happy to be proved wrong. Don’t think Musselburgh have bought many, perhaps more have come in on loan. If we have used so many players, in my mind it is because we still don’t know what our best team is. Transition is a good word. I actually felt we had a good squad at start of season, and perhaps testimony to the team, Musselburgh, by recent standards are having a poor season, yet still sit in 5th place, albeit played more matches than most. Think we may finish 6-7th. However, having lost 4 top players this season (2 to Tranent), Musselburgh must buy players for new season, who gel quickly, or else we would be in trouble. I agree on the part of the U20 team. I think, particularly now, when Burgh aren’t going to be relegated it would be good to ‘blood’ more youngsters into the main team, for a run and see, without as much pressure if they are good enough to make the step up on a permanent basis for 22-23. But, having not been involved in Friday night football, maybe the talent is lacking at moment? Certainly though, the whole point, for me, of the U20s is that it is a feeder team to bring on young players in the hope they make the grade. I am disappointed that recently, only Ross McCrae has made the set up. Sorry, but no idea what the last point / praise is with gate prices.
  9. After a draw against Syngenta tonight, maybe the manager will ask for another forward. Good luck to Tranent, with the fact that they seem at ease to be able to go out and by new players as and when and at a whim, but can’t help but think that while some of the players are really good, Callum Donaldson and Kris Renton; great buys, they never seem to have a settled side week in week out. Still a great chance of winning the league, but time will tell if such frequent buying and selling/releasing of players will have the desired affect.
  10. We will never know, but I bet when Geoff was sacked and the new management team came in, officials did not think they would be in this position with 8 matches to go. I have seen Dunbar 4 times this season, at home and haven’t been bowled over by them in any of the matches. Only one point out of 12 in 2022 leaves them as potential relegation material. Think the current bottom 3 will go down, the other from, Blackburn, Dunbar and LTHV. Hill of Beath most likely team to pull away from current position. Yes they have matches in hand over LSVT, but maybe the extra points are more important at this point. Time will tell.
  11. So what are your thoughts of the player Omni? Seemed to have a good pedigree when he was younger - a number of top teams seemed to be keen on him. Playing 27 (?) games for Tranent, he seems to have been given a fair chance by management, and a good tweet by Craig Stephenson. Would you have liked him to stay at Tranent, or are you content to see him leave. Musselburgh are crying out for good players at the moment, so I hope it all works out for Knox
  12. Tongue in Cheek response (of mine), but you are correct
  13. Always think that is a daft rule. If a club loan him out then surely he should be able to play for the loan club and show his parent club they were wrong to send him out
  14. The question we all want to know - is the laddie a student?
  15. Still time to resolve the decline - bring back Geoff
  16. A bit worried when I saw Lochgelly taking the lead half way through the first half, but good to see Mathu back on his scoring exploits with a hat-trick, albeit by a team near the foot of their conference. Also good to hear what you say about Lloyd being your MoM. All good teams should have a strong, tenacious (seen that word a couple of times this weekend) midfield; couple of players who should control the match with another 1 or 2 moving up and down the flanks, troubling defenders and putting in good crosses for forward line. A double home win in next 2 matches, could see winner take all in last group match at Millfield! Perhaps the 2nd placed team might progress into the last 16 as one of four best placed runners-up.
  17. Sad to see the demise of Camelon this season. Whilst not in top 4 or so of best teams, I always saw Camelon as a stuff/hard side to beat in seasons gone by. By all accounts yesterday’s performance sounds like a side who are going down. Let’s not kick ourselves that they will suddenly find form and get enough points to remain in Premier league next season. Then, whoever is in charge of club will have two obstacles in their way. Building a side capable of promotion and to sort out a ground which seems to be crumbling before their own eyes.
  18. Stevie; did you have to get your mummy to type that for you? Just answering Andy’s question. Remember when you get off the potty in the morning to get someone to wipe your bottom now.
  19. Bit of a recent wobble only winning 3 of last 6 league matches, but I take your point
  20. Finding this season a bit hard to take. Very strange start with two new managers involved pre-season and no new players of note. Always going to be hard to be in the mix with teams like HoB, Jeanfield, Linlithgow, Penicuik and Tranent all ‘presumed big hitters’, but on their day, Burgh still had the backbone of a very good side. Roll on to now and four top players in Evans, B Donaldson, Whyte and C Donaldson all away; two to Lowland League teams and two to our nearby neighbour. No incoming players to match their ability (at least so far). I am at odds with at least one Burgh supporter, who I am in regular contact with, re my appraisal of some of those who have left. Never the less, Burgh have been severely weakened between start of season and now. Burgh should finish top half and still in two cups so not all doom and gloom. But we need to be preparing for next season now and at least have players earmarked to be at Olivebank as soon as pre-season kicks off. I have a feeling that on the whole it will be a completely new side, give one or two, in 2022-23, so good luck to management with their endeavours. Tough match today, away to Broxburn. The auld guard need to be at their best to come away with 3-points. MTB
  21. A week ago, I thought it was one way traffic, with Linlithgow heading for the title (may well still happen). Then Crossgates get their win and Tranent buy 2 class players in Chris and Callum Donaldson, who I rate as the league’s best right back. Tranent definitely back in the mix for the league title.
  22. Cheers hit man I need to take time out at the start of the season for a couple of reasons. Have seen Musselburgh on 3 occasions, all away. At the moment different priorities to deal with, but we shall see what happens at the start of the new season. It is good PTB does a summary as was kayemphoto. Definitely think Burgh going through a transition just now and hope all is good for 2022-23.
  23. Thank you for the photos and also for the great wee write up you did. I am sure fans and players, whether present or not, appreciate your efforts. Great mention for Ben Reilly - who I think is going to be a big player for Burgh in the coming seasons.
  24. The boy is back in town, the boy is back in town.... Good to have you back PTB Heard the referee had a shocker first half; heard that Musselburgh were much better in 2nd half. Heard some fans thought if 2nd half was as bad as 1st then the attendances would lessen further as season moved on. Good to see all the positives in your summary. Just as happy to see your comments on Jackie as I am about Ben Reilly. We hope that when new, young players come into the fold that they fit in and are not overawed. Knew Ben from about a year ago, watching him being trained by others. His attitude was excellent, so was his willingness to train and listen to how he could improve his movements/skills etc - so it warms my heart, the comments you make. Nice to see Smith getting a goal and being involved in another. Perhaps it took longer than expected for him to settle in agt Olivebank, but a positive as we move on. Since LTHV were promoted, I think they have had the upper hand on Burgh. A well skilled outfit who are nobody’s mugs so 3 pts are great. Also heard that the young keeper for LTHV, Kieron Renton made 2 or 3 excellent says on his return to Olivebank. On the whole, I love ex-Burgh favs coming back and proving that they still have it (as long as Burgh win). A tough match next week against one of two clubs who could still overtake Musselburgh in the league. Have seen Broxburn twice this season and they weren’t great either time, but at Albyn Park, they are usually a hard nut to match.
