The St. Mirren FC 2023/24 thread

We simply don’t score enough nor do we look like scoring. The earlier poster is correct our current front men won’t hit 10 goals between them from now till the end and this could be the reason that we lose the top six spot. I hope I’m wrong but today had we a decent forward we’d have got a point at least - and as for Gogic he’s outstanding and we need to offer him the top wage of anyone at the club. To lose him would be a crushing blow -

Someone else I spoke to said they expect Bacchus to go for a small fee. I’m not sure that helps our cause. I’d rather he stayed and played out the season rather than take 25 grand or something. We won’t replace Bacchus like for like - I’d also hope he moves south rather than Aberdeen. -
Aberdeen v St Mirren, farewell to 2023.

How often do you beat either of the old firm? Celtic two weeks ago granted but you don’t tend to do to well against the bigger boys particularly Rangers. Be good to se you boys do your bit for the league and win against them more often. -

Midfield is non existent and as it stands Gogic would help in there. I suppose tho he is also holding the back line together. Taylor is needing rested too he’s far too casual and causing problems for us at present. No doubt he has ability but he’s prone to one . Dunne seems to be well out of the plan despite being fast and a solid enough player - I have heard people say he’s not got it but I think he’s deserving on a chance now . The main issue is that in final third we are dire. No creativity no ability really. Lots of running and huffing and puffing but no goals. I would probably say Mandron deserves a shot and I’d like to see him and Nahmani play as I think Mandron is a clever player. Ayunga seems to want to beat a player two or three times and it generally end with possession lost . Tough watch these past two months and a v hard game on Saturday. -

As mentioned before I like Taylor but he’s far to prone to switching off or playing a slack pass -

Our set pieces are rubbish - corners in particular are not good enough -

the best team I’ve seen - sure it’s early days but the past year has been superb . I’ve been supporting the team for 36 years and I’m struggling to find a better side -

Some amount of nonsense being spouted in here. Robinson is the reason we are we’re we are. The things that he’s put in place to be successful would also be lost. Martin Foyle? Diarmund O Carroll this is not good for us not at all. Folk also saying I’d be happy to lose Bacchus! Really you’ll happily trade the chance to do something special so easily. I’ve been watching and supporting since 1987 and this team I think could be the best I’ve ever seen. Losing Bacchus this late would be a shambles and for what 275k . Peanuts -

I’m not a fan of any of the options. I’d have enjoyed a Tribute to Hugh Murray 1997/98 away or a neon yellow something different. I really liked the Kelvin Homes white kit of 1990 .I understand we have had blue before but I genuinely cannot believe we might go with another red kit which is pretty boring -

Boys Munce doesn’t look like he has the engine but it might be the fact he’s only really getting games now. Strain I’d say too gives you a great hour but looks v tired after this. -

Losing Strain and Baccus but still emerging stronger with two new players who aren’t playing with the team at present and who’ll need time to bed in. They’ll no doubt be sold for 250k per player. Not a chance we will get 700k for Strain -

So why are we selling for 300k - He looks back to his best again and is again being selected for Australia. The fact is that he could leave for nothing but the chances of us replacing him are slim at best. I don’t understand how if reading on here is correct we’d sell him for 275k actually but would demand 400k extra for Strain? How does that work? Is Baccus not worth the same ? -

Someone on a Celtic website saying they’re interested in Strain - it came up when I typed in St Mirren to Google and was one of the news stories. Possibly rubbish tho - hope so -

I’m not overly negative we have some good players but I’m simply saying that my concern is regarding our defence. I am worried about the loss of some experienced players. I hope this is unfounded and we are fine . -

My point is that the central defence looks weaker - I hope I’m wrong but are we suggesting Taylor and Gogic and Fraser will be good enough. Time will tell I guess but I think the loss of an experienced back line including Trevor is a slight worry -
