  1. Sobering thought for anybody getting carried away. IF we had lost at Hamilton instead of winning we would now have 49 points, Accies would have 44 points and would have a game in hand. And we still have to play each other twice. Fine margins.
  2. Just gives that little greaser another incentive to put one over on us. As @Raybowski89 said, our unbeaten run will have to finish sometime, just hope that it isn't tomorrow night.
  3. Plastered on the Cove changing room walls for sure. Hope it doesn't come back to bite us.
  4. The inspection was at 2.15, I think, with the KO scheduled for 5.30pm, no?
  5. Please allow me to be the first to wish you a Happy Anniversary for tomorrow! Sorry guys, you must be hurting. https://news.stv.tv/sport/marvin-bartley-appointed-as-new-manager-of-queen-of-the-south Edit: This was my prediction for the final league placings this season. He fooled me an aw. 1. Falkirk 2. QoTS 3. Hamilton 4. Cove 5. Stirling 6. Alloa 7. Montrose 8. Kelty 9. Annan 10. Edinburgh This has to be our season to go up because simply, we can't afford not to. No promotion and we’ll have to go part-time and that has to be avoided at all costs. Edited August 2, 2023 by Bairn in Exile
  6. Somebody needs to give Burrell a right sair yin in the first couple of minutes On Tuesday to put him off his stride for the rest of the game. Clubber Lang, come on down!
  7. Another Story of The Matchday video. The camera lens must have got a good cleaning at half time.
  8. I’ve always thought that it must be strange having your squad training so far away from Palmerston that it can’t possibly engender closeness between the players and support. I slightly understand that it is all down to your geographical location but it must be a bit of a hindrance building bonds? Our squad has just been involved in a fun training session at TFS with some of our Junior Bairns who hopefully will go on to be fans in the future. If Queens were to get a Roy McGregor type owner with oodles of cash in the future and you were to progress to the Premiership, do you think the club would then insist on all the players being Dumfries based?
  9. The Daily Ranger has Edinburgh City announcing a new player signing so I'm hopeful that they will make it to the end of the season. Shite with computers, this is the best that I could do. Edinburgh City are delighted to announce the signing of talented former Celtic and Burnley Midfielder Frankie Deane! Welcome to the Citizens Frankie!
  10. More years ago than I care to remember I worked down in Rothesay for a couple of years and to augment my meagre income I worked in a pub a few nights a week and weekends etc. As per usual, the Glasgow Fair would arrive and hordes of Weegies came "doon the watter". Inevitably, the landlord, who was also a Glaswegian, would "casually" be asked "Eh, Robin, what, eh, school did ye go tae?" His answer was always the same and left them flummoxed - "St. Ibrox".
  11. All this talk of the fans (the owners) making a mess of their own stadium reminds me of Jimmy Carr on QI talking about wife beating and keying your own car! We have a really nice, modern stadium, the envy of many, take care of it please.
  12. Surely if the fans tidy up after themselves, putting their rubbish into receptacles provided, then the club wouldn't need to employ so many cleaners etc. and more cash could be directed towards the playing staff? Win win.
  13. We'd better hope that we go up this season because if we don't and all the leagues stay similar to how they are looking at the moment then the league 1 derbies next season could be the Binos v the Wasps and Us v Stenny! We'd have that Neilly nob haunting us even more than usual. Actually, with us winning most Saturdays these days he hasn't been around as much as in previous seasons, long may it continue.
  14. HAPPY NEW YEAR! To all Bairns fans everywhere, from Adelaide to Zanzibar, here's to a fantastic 2024 and hopefully promotion. COYB
  15. Eh, naw. A fair few meaning: a fairly large number a fair few (British English) (British English also a good few) (also quite a few British English, North American English) a fairly large number.
  16. "Borrowed" from the QOTS thread. We are 14 points better off than we were at the same time last season and 7 points better off than Dunfermline were too Please John, keep up the good work.
  17. Giáng sinh vui vẻ tới tất cả những người ủng hộ Bairns ở khắp mọi nơi!
  18. I really hope we can go up this season so that we can get back to playing at real football stadia again. I’m not at the games in the flesh so it might be different if you are actually there but the difference in atmosphere in watching the Accies game in front of a couple of crowded, substantial stands and watching the Annan game in front of one man and his dog on Falkirk TV was like chalk and cheese as a viewer experience. The other away game this season where I felt like I was watching a real football match was at Stirling, once again a stadium with a couple of decent stands. The atmosphere at the other grounds just seems to dissipate into the ether. Some of the away games this season are like a slight step-up from watching Bonnybridge Juniors at Jenny’s Park.
  19. Neither of us knows the income / expenditure of the 2 clubs and maybe Accies are taking a gamble in spending money on one of our best players, strengthening them while weakening us. Anyway, I surrender, you win.
  20. Right bud, last time. They don't get big gates, right? They need to sell their academy players to bring in income to compensate, right? They can't afford to wait until the players are fully fledged to sell them because of cash flow pressures, right? We were in a similar situation with Ryan Blair, Botti Biabi and Tony Gallagher, we had to "cash them in" early to give us some income. An Accies fan would know the numbers better than me but I think that they got something like 600 - 700k for the 3 academy players that they sold at the beginning of this season, that is why they can currently outspend us.
